Kate Winslet has finally admitted the truth about Rose's final moments with Jack in Titanic. The actress confirmed on Monday during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that there was, in fact, enough space for Jack Dawson (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) to get on to the floating door in the one of the last scenes of the film.

Winslet's Rose DeWitt Bukater survives the Titanic wreck because she is lying down on one of the doors from the ship that's floating in the waters while her lover Jack dies because he spends too long a time unprotected in the freezing water.

Fans have, for several years, posited the theory that the two lovers could have survived the wreck and maybe even lived happily ever after if only Rose had pulled Jack up on to the floating piece of door. And with Winslet's confirmation, it seems they have triumphed.

"I think he could have actually fitted on the piece of door," she told Kimmel to much applause from the studio audience.

Winslet also went on to talk about how "lovely" it is that fans get excited about seeing her and Leonardo DiCaprio share the same space. "It has been 20 years and people still get such a kick out of it," she said, referring to the fact that Titanic released in 1997. Which is not really 20 years ago, but hey, who's counting?

Winslet's statement vindicated her fans and a few of them took to Twitter to express their feelings

Nice to see Kate Winslet admit the facts. Titanic is a murder story and Rose is the killer https://twitter.com/SamLitzinger/status/694866517981319170 ...
Dawson, Rose Dawson. Titanic
Watching Titanic and hoping Rose makes place for Jack on that door every. Single. Time.

This was a james cameron movie. The guy is not an idiot. No matter what rose says or any fans do, the fact is holding two people wasn't possible. Its not about space. It was about the weight.
There were some physics students who did several expriments and showed that what james cameron showed indeed made sense. Even james cameron had got experts to vouch for the scene before he shot it.

If jack had not been shown dead Titanic would have sunk like Titanic
the ship 😆
the empathy is aroused at last scene where jack dies..
n she throws the blue diamond back to sea showing nothing more
precious to her than Jack..n the grand scene of the epic with Jack waiting after
death..she dies n goes n takes his hand..she married other man bt jack only remains
her one true love..this scenes could not have been enacted had jack not been bumped off..
so i feel it was absolute necessity to bump off jack to give it that soul breaking
emotional connect..😊

agree!!! Not going much into physics or science but audiences connected and empathized with Rose because of the unfinished love story!
