Nikhi all the points you have written in ur last post are absolutely true...i m writing from mobile so pls forgive anu typos...
For a few minutes let me put aside the actors...i am going to put aside the fact that indira is played by rati (who has an ardent fan following) and rishi is played by sv(who has his own fan following by now) and i am only going to look at a fiction story we have been watching for close to one and a half yrs now.
It started with a 25 yr old girl who was the breadearner and head of the family as the guys in the family were useless. The problem with the girl was that she has sacrificed many yrs of her life just for earning n she was eagerly waiting for her brother to come back n shoulder the reaponsibilities so she could also think about herself. she was not able to see the lighter parts of life due to her responsibilities...then comes rishi who is lighthearted n jovial at the age of 27 , comes from a rich background so has never worked in his life...oppisites attract n they fall in love... from then onwards the story should have neen how they mutually grow together over the yrs and how their personalities get balanced by being with each other...rishi should have taught indira how to be happy even in most difficult circumstances, how to slowly work at changing the mentality of sharma family members, and indira should have taught rishi how to be more responsible and mature with being jovial...hd should have ideally been this jourmey and this was how i saw the story when the serial started. But due to the poor script this was not to be...i am sure its not only the writers but mainly the TRPs which are to be blamed for the umpteen changes in story line...
After 8 yrs of the story these are the things I do not like about the characters and how they stand today:Rishi (2nd most important character in HD after indira, this i am admitting it openly)- He was also supposed to be a character who should have seen immense growth in last 8 yrs. But i do not see any growth in him from when he was 27 yrs old bachelor to how he is now as a 36 yr old father and husband. He does have many endearing qualities but for a 36 yr old guy he is utterly useless ( not only taking care of office work but no contribution at home also). I was okay if rishi did not want to work and indira and rishi had mutually decided that rishi was going to run the house and take care of indu's studies etc and indira would earn. this is okay with me.But rishi is doing neither thing. in front of indu, he has been shown as a useless, workless, women chasing, drinking , card playing , loitering father, which is disgusting for a man of 36 yrs living in a family who desparately needs both financial and emotional support. in fact if SV was not playing this character i am not sure how this character would have been tolerated by me for so long. To the extent i think if indira had married a man whowas the exact opposite of rishi , it would have been much better. She needed a guy who was responsible, mature, financially and emotionally sound, with a good work ethic. By now (after 8 yrs), all her financial problems would have been okay and she would have been a more content person by now.Indira and her family- there are many aspects in which i wanted indira to also grow by now. i can understand why she was always rude, stubborn, making decisions for her family, never finding time to laugh. Her life from age of 18 to 25 was really very tough. She is just like the father figure of the family. But by 8 yrs and different cercmstances i wanted to see her change each and every member of her family from utterly selfish people to normal working folks and in the process see her growth to a well balanced individual who lives, loves and laughs, works, cries, fights for justice but without the standard chappal, thappad etc...by now she should have matured enough as a character to reach a good place in her career along with her family life. Also all the supporting characters have such a good scope of improvement. So their should have been some improvement from their grey characters towards white. in my opinion the people who are the same shade of grey for too long are actually black, as if a person doesnt learn then he his life is stagnant.and unfortunately we have been witnessing major stagnancy in all the characters since the serial started ...whether it is rishi, indira, sharma family etc ...whatever biggest circumstances happen, nothing is learnt from it , no change happens in them permanently, they keep regressing.....different tracks come and go but HD story or characters never grow up according to their age or circumstances...also i do not like that indira is just too light with all these characters, she gives them the fish to eat but is not able to make them learn how to fish (this duty is not hers originally, its her fathers but them he is shown useless). But she should really sit rishi down and tell him that his irresponsible behaviour is not tolerable. he might have been rich once , but he has chosen to marry a middle class girl, so he should shoulder a portion of the financial, household, indu's and other responsibilities. Smilarly with all the others too. Illa could have shown so many things on how to make family members more responsible like division of work within the family etc etc , but nothing is shown in the serial
