I did not know her before I HD.

Then I saw HD. My first attraction was Indira and Rishi. As the story progressed and started admiring her voice and Rati's ability to use it as an instrument to add depth to the scenes.

Then I started catching up on SBS etc. And started liking her attitude

Oh with what confidence did she say at 100 episode party (?) that HD will never become a Saas Bahu drama

Well today it has become worse than that. Only it is maikey instead of Sasural. If Rati had to play a traditional role of "male", looking the other way as his wife gets bullied, tortured and killed...I would see that at least there is some satisfaction as an actor in playing a role reversal.

But poor Rati, today, does not even have that chance.

she is being forced to play a completely dumb bechari lechari ladki who does not even know female biology and has to be ordered around by an alpha male to get hot water

No wonder Rati lacks the spark nowadays!

Oh what must she be thinking when she gets the script?😭

I know many forum members are very young or live sheltered lives. Thus may not have experience of dealing with raw sexuality and its underlying currents in real life.

But Indira is not such a woman. She has been out in man's world, not doing a normal society approved "female" profession of a doctor, teacher. she was out in the world fighting the likes of Sameer in their own territory.

so coming across males with potent sexuality was not something that was new to her.

Yet, today we have Rati being reduced to play a new low, in a series of new lows as show is plumbing down sewer level depths at bullet speed!

She had to play a bumbling female experiencing sexual attraction for the first time - like a newly hatched chick running around in circles😔 ...and that too while her husband may be being killed by her family somewhere

What an insult to her character!😭

Jem,
When did this happen ? did i miss something ? I couldn't figure Indira getting attracted to Sumer in today's episode.
These are serous criticism for Indu for no reason... I don't think even Sumer is attracted at this moment to Indu.. so where this sexual attraction crop up from ?

Mahesh

No one, least of I want to be disappointed with Indira, least of all level serious unwarranted criticism. Why would we, who have been so emotionally invested in her (despite her flaws, like Rishi), want to trash her?

Now to your points

Sumer is attracted to Indira. That is why we had that atrocious song playing in his head yesterday, not once but twice when Indira or marraige with sharma girls was being talked about. That is why we had that wonderful eyelock and shoulder brushing when he left the house and left Indira to her teaching and lecturing. That is why we are seeing this man mutter "he is a brahmachari" multiple times, as if to remind himself.

That is why we had that silly little attraction dance played in the barsaati when they were developing photos. This dance was classic attraction dance.

Now Sumer is a sexual animal (brahmachari or not). CVs have been pretty blunt with that message, since day one.

Now to Indira

Experiencing attraction to another male, especially sexual attraction, is no crime, married or not! This is a physical reaction, driven by body chemicals. It does not make anyone characterless. contrary - it makes you human.

That Indira is experiencing this attraction has been evident since day one. CVs have been giving us clues of this in every day, including that ridiculous dancing around him like a clueless newly hatched chick. It is not overt like every other woman in HD who is openly lusting after him, but is below the surface.

What galls me is not that Indira is attracted to this guy. What galls me is the circumstances under which she is experiencing this attraction and how she is letting it make her witless.
  • her wedding day, right after she came out of the temple, making all sorts of tall promises in front of God. She was so captivated by a cop catching a petty thief, she even forgot it was her wedding day and just minutes before, she was making some pretty intense conversation with God.
  • Her husband is beaten, tortured, murdered and re-kidnapped in front of her eyes in the last couple of days.
And yet her brain and body have spare capacity to indulge in dance of sexual attraction
    • Her whole "I hate you so" trope with him when she could not even recognize her husband's body or smell when she hugged him
    • The whole eyelock, shoulder brushing that went on yesterday.
    • Today, she was so overpowered by his presence in the barsaati, she was clueless, fluttering here and there, not able to concentrate on the task at hand, staring at him and thinking he is backing her into a corner, when he was looking at the picture with Rishi, utter blankness during these proceedings etc
If there was any doubt that Indira is not attracted to this guy at a physical, if somewhat repressed level, it was today.

Again, attraction is not the issue. Issue is how little her husband had value for her that he could at this very point be being tortured (most likely) and injured (most likely), and she is capacity to indulge in these frivolous human emotions

Let me give you an example

We all love food and all have to eat. No sin in it all.

But when we are slightly tense - an exam, an interview, a family worry, a tough project, etc... we all foget eating. Our body and brain do not have energy to spare to concentrate on these legitimate human activities.

All the resources body and brain has, are devoted to that thing that is occupying us.

Especially when we are in traumatic situations, like loved one's sickness.

Here, Indira's lover, her husband is experiencing the most horrific circumstances he can experience, and she herself has been a witness to them. So she should be in that heightened state as well where all of body power is devoted to one task - save Rishi's life. Yet here she has spare capacity to indulge in her suppressed attraction

That is what is galling

That is what was galling (although I never knew that CVs would sink so low as today), when she made eyes at the copper on temple steps and forgot her wedding.

Issue is always context
