FACT OF THE DAY:
All of the members of the D.A. still have their coins. They see them as badges or medals of honor – proof that the owner had been at the heart of the fight against Voldemort from the start. J.K. Rowling likes to imagine Neville showing his to his admiring pupils at Hogwarts.

In real life, Natalie McDonald was a young Canadian fan of the novels with a terminal illness, Leukemia. A friend of her mother's wrote to J. K. Rowling to ask her to write to Natalie. J.K. Rowling did not receive the letter until after a vacation, and though she admits to fearing it was "too late", wrote back, telling Natalie what happens to each of the main characters, only to find out from Natalie's mother that she had passed away. The two women began a friendship, and Natalie was thus added to the books (into Gryffindor, the house of bravery), as a tribute. Her mother kept the contents of the letter secret until her other two children finished reading The Deathly Hallows.

FACT OF THE DAY:
Harry's lightning bolt scar was applied by make-up teams approximately 5,800 times by the end of the series. Daniel Radcliffe had the scar applied 2,000 times while the rest were applied to stunt doubles and stand-ins.

In the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Honeydukes "is floor-to-ceiling psychedelia" and includes Mexican skulls made of sugar. The cast was told that the Honeydukes candy was lacquer-coated, when in fact it wasn't, to prevent candy from disappearing between takes.

July 8th
1999: The book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is released in the United States.
2000: The book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is released in the United States and the United Kingdom simultaneously on this date. It was the first Potter book to be released in the US and UK on the same day.
