I know they appeared in Book 4 and it has long gone since we last heard of them......but here is some info I grabbed off wikipedia.org

Beauxbatons

Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is a fictional magic school similar to Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series of books. It was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and existed at least 700 years ago, as that was when they began participating in the Triwizard Tournament. Beauxbatons is located in France and its current headmistress is Olympe Maxime.

Location

Some have speculated that since bouillabaisse was served at the opening feast of the Triwizard Tournament, and this fish soup is generally served in southeast France, one could assume that Beauxbatons is somewhere on the Mediterranean coast of France, perhaps Marseille. This would also explain why Beauxbatons students are so cold when they arrive at Hogwarts, which is in Scotland. Also, when Hagrid and Maxime set out on a secret quest for the giants at the end of book four, Hagrid is questioned about where they went (in book five). He airily replies that he went to the South of France.

Another speculation is that, since in France the area with the most connection to magic is Brittany, the school might be found there.

Uniforms and Study

The students' uniforms also suggest they are accustomed to warmer weather than they encounter at Hogwarts; Beauxbatons robes are made of light blue silk. The school coat of arms is two golden wands crossed over one another, each shooting three stars.

Beauxbatons students follow a strict system of protocol concerning the behavior of students towards their professors, noticeably absent at Hogwarts. They also seem to care more about their studies and their school's reputation. The French school follows a different examination system as well. At Hogwarts, major board exams are taken in the fifth and seventh years. Beauxbatons students sit for their exams in the sixth year.

The Palace of Beauxbatons

The Academy is housed in a glittering palace, brighter than Hogwarts Castle, as befitting its distinct Mediterranean feel. The food, at least according to alumna Fleur Delacour, is delicious but much lighter than the food served at Hogwarts. Rather than suits of armour, the halls of Beauxbatons are flanked by statues of diamond. The palace contains choirs of wood nymphs, who serenade the students while they eat. Beauxbatons is Unplottable (as most magical buildings are), so no Muggles or even wizards from rival schools can find it on a map, and it may be disguised so no one can really see it unless they know to look for it. "Beaux btons" is French for "beautiful sticks." The "btons" part is presumably a reference to magical wands. The French word for "magic wand" is "baguette magique", which would make most people in the English-speaking world think of a loaf of bread, so it is not surprising that Rowling did not use it.

Beauxbatons competed in the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. The champion for Beauxbatons turned out to be Fleur Delacour. Neither Fleur nor the other Beauxbatons were very impressed with Hogwarts; Fleur spent much of her time bragging about how much better Beauxbatons was.

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Olympe Maxime journeyed with Hagrid to get the giants on Dumbledore's side before Lord Voldemort could. Also in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Fleur Delacour is back as Bill's fiancee.

Durmstrang

Durmstrang Institute for Magical Study is a fictional magic school in the Harry Potter books, similar to Hogwarts. The school existed at least 700 years ago, as that was when they began participating in the Triwizard Tournament.

Location

Durmstrang is thought to be located in northern Europe, or northwestern Russia or the Baltic coast, although the name points to its German origin (thought to be a play on the phrase Sturm und Drang, a German literary movement).

The school would appear to be very far North, as part of the school uniform includes furs, the locale is often freezing and the days are very short in winter [1]. This would seem to invalidate Bulgaria, which has a warm climate and long winter days. All known Durmstrang characters have a Slavic name or accent, which seems to rule out Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland as the school's main recruitment grounds. The school could be located in one of the Slavic areas with a German-influenced history, such as Livonia.

Uniform and Study

Durmstrang students wear heavy furs with blood-red robes, yet another indication of the cold climate of the school's location. In the film, they wear Russian ushankas and tsigeika coats. (Rowling's version is considered canon).

Durmstrang is known for placing great emphasis on the study of the Dark Arts. Whereas most major schools limit the study to mere Defence Against the Dark Arts, Durmstrang students actually learn them. The wisdom of this curriculum is questioned by others in the international magical community.

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire[2], Draco Malfoy hints that Durmstrang may only permit pure-blood students, or may at least not admit muggle-born witches and wizards. It is unknown if this statement is true at all, and if it is, whether it was the policy of its former headmaster, Igor Karkaroff, or a general policy of the school.

Durmstrang Castle

Like Hogwarts, Durmstrang is located inside a castle. The castle is only four stories tall and fires are only lit for magical purposes. It has very extensive grounds though - as Viktor Krum tells Hermione Granger, the Durmstrang Castle is smaller than the Hogwarts Castle, but the grounds are much bigger. They are similar to Hogwarts in that the Durmstrang grounds also have lakes and mountains, but on a larger scale. He also says they play Quidditch alot.

Durmstrang has a reputation for teaching the Dark Arts, possibly because of its former headmaster, Igor Karkaroff. Karkaroff was a Death Eater, but he got out of Azkaban by giving the Ministry of Magic dozens of names of his co-conspirators. In keeping with Karkaroff's Death Eater ideology, Muggle-born students are not admitted at Durmstrang. It is unclear whether this admissions policy has changed since his demise.

Bulgarian Quidditch Seeker, Viktor Krum, attended Durmstrang, and was still in school during the 1994 World Cup. In the 1994 Triwizard Tournament, Durmstrang's champion was, to nobody's surprise, Viktor Krum. It was ironic that Krum attended the Yule Ball with Hermione, who is Muggle-born and would not have been admitted at his school.

At the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Karkaroff flees as soon as Lord Voldemort arises again. In the sixth book it is mentioned that Karkaroff was killed by the Death Eaters. It is not known who took over, or whether the school's reputation improved or worsened due to this.

Bye for now! 😊
