A Whole New Saga
Note- Guys this is not actually a Harry Potter Fan Fiction. Erm, I mean it's not centric around Harry and his friends. It's about a new set of students in Hogwarts, and their lives there. The main protagonist of my series is a young girl named Grace Anderson and her friends Josh, Anna and Michael. You will see the Harry Potter characters, of course. In my series we have a new dark wizard like Voldy (who went moldy-LOL), about whom I will reveal later as the story goes on. This is just a sneak peak into my story, you will get the first part in a day or two. :) Please don't ignore the story, it's going to be as action-packed and fast as the fabulous HP series, and I will retain the magic. :)
Disclaimer- I own Grace and most of her friends. The characters which are from the HP books belong to JKR (luucckkyyyy). The Hogwarts School, houses, ceremonies and stuff also belong to the extremely lucky woman.
Chapter One - A Tragic Beginning
It was 10:30 in the night and there were just one and a half an hour left for Grace Anderson's 11th birthday. She was sitting on the laptop, her eyebrows narrowed due to her deep concentration. She was very engrossed in her work and her hands kept typing furiously on the keyboard. Her mother, Sheila Anderson asked her to stop working on the "electronic gadget" and go to sleep.
"Just five minutes mom," Grace said. "I'm just chatting with Jane."
"Care to explain what chatting means?" Sheila asked. "You and your electronic gadgets!"
"It's called a COMPUTER," Grace said. "I am almost done. Just telling her a goodbye."
"A kompu..what?" Sheila asked.
"C-O-M-P-U-T-E-R" Grace spelled out. "Please don't remind me of the hard time I had trying to explain to you what it was, for you and dad to buy it for me!"
Grace remembered that there had been a huge row in her house when she asked her parents to buy her a computer with internet connection. They had no idea what it was, looked so very confused that it almost drove Grace to insanity. She couldn't understand what generation they came from. Honestly, everyone knew about computers, even her best friend Jane's two year old brother Jack. Why was it that only her parents were oblivious to anything fun?
"Go to sleep Grace Anderson," Sheila said. "NOW!"
"Alright, alright," Grace muttered, as she turned off the computer.
After giving her mother a quick hug and kiss, Grace went went into the bathroom to change into a pair of cotton pajamas. It was 29th July, a day before her birthday. Grace was a pretty 11 year old girl, with black hair upto just a little below her shoulders. She had an ovalish shaped face. She was a tech-savvy girl, and was up to date with all the electronic gadgets, softwares, etc. Once she was done, she tied her hair into a loose braid and went to sleep.
The next morning, she was awoken from her peaceful slumber by her parents Sheila and Jeffry Anderson. They were cowering over her, singing out the Happy Birthday song! She got up with a start and looked at them, a weird expression flashing across her face. They had a gloomy and sad expression, some what like they were trying to tell her something. Her mother pulled her into a tight hug, and gave a kiss on her forehead. Her father did the same.
"Mom, dad!" Grace said. "What's wrong with you two?"
"Happy Birthday Sweetie," Mrs. Anderson said. "We love you very, very much. No matter what happens, we want you to know that."
"Mom," Grace said, a little cautiously. "Is everything alright? I mean why are you behaving so...different?"
"Nothings wrong silly child," Mrs. Anderson said, but Grace could bet that she saw her wipe of a tiny tear from her left eye. "Anyways, you freshen up and get dressed, while your father and I set up a little surprise for you."
"Okay mom," Grace said.
After her mother and father left the room, Grace locked the door behind her, and head to the bathroom. After a quick shower she changed into a red half-sleeved shirt and a black jeans. She pulled her hair up into a high pony and went down. She saw that her parents had decorated the entire house with balloons and other decorations. She grinned broadly as she saw her only and best friend Jane, smiling at her.
"Happy Birthday Gracey!" Jane said, pulling her into a hug. "May you have many more!"
"Thanks Jans," Grace said. "Thanks a ton for this mom and dad."
"Anytime for our sweetheart," Mrs. Anderson. "You are our only child. Our gem, our life. We'd give up our lives for you..."
"Mom why are you becoming so sentimental," Grace asked curiously. "Are you suffering from some health disorder? Umm like cancer?"
"Heck no!" Mrs. Anderson said, alarmed at her daughter's accusations. "It's nothing child...just temporary mood swings."
"Smile mommy," Grace said, giving her a hug. "I love you. You and dad may be technologically handicapped, but you can throw one heck of a party!"
"We aren't your parents for nothing," Mr. Anderson said, grinning broadly.
Then they cut the birthday cake, played a few games and had some good food. Mrs. Anderson wouldn't let Grace out of her sight and kept reminding her how much she and her husband loved her. Grace found this a little weird at first, but let it slip later. Maybe she was just having those mood swings she spoke about.
In the evening when Grace, Jane and Mrs. Anderson were talking about the upcoming school year and such, Mr. Anderson barged into the living room and pulled his wife away from there, taking her into the bedroom. Grace was about to protest, when Jane told her to stay. After about half an hour, a hassled Mrs. Anderson, followed by a pale Mr. Anderson entered the room.
"Grace, Jane, you girls head off to the shopping mall in the city," Mrs. Anderson said.
"The mall?" Grace asked. "I dislike going to the mall...and besides why?"
"Because your mother is saying so," Mr. Anderson said sternly. "Now off with you two!"
"Dad, mom, what's going on?" Grace asked, looking from her mother to her father.
"Here wear this jacket," Mrs. Anderson said, handing over a blue jacket to her. "And stick to the crowd. Don't wander off. Come home late...stay away as long as you can. We love you...don't forget that!"
Saying so, she pulled her daughter into a tight hug and wiped away her tears. Grace, perplexed, hugged her back. Her father joined in the embrace and the family just stood that way. It was an emotional moment for the couple, especially, while their daughter just stood between them, perplexed and confused. She felt her mother's tears fall onto her face and she touched them, not knowing what was going on. After a few moments of silence, they let go of her.
"Now off with you two," Mrs. Anderson said. "Have a good time, and come home around 10."
"Why so late?" Grace asked.
"You might have a surprise awaiting you..." Mr. Anderson said. "Or a shock." (in a whisper).
"What?" Grace asked.
"Nothing child," Mr. Anderson said. "Good bye."
The girls left the house and headed for the mall. Grace's house was a little away from everyone else'. There was a long walk along a lonely road before the girls entered a small town, full of people. They lived in Minnesota, USA. The girls walked on a little more and waited at the bus stop. The bus arrived in ten minutes and the girls got on. Jane asked her friend whether she felt their parents weird behavior...they were so sentimental...as if they were going to die and leave Grace. Grace shushed her at this point and told her that it was mood swings only, perhaps. But deep down inside, she knew something was wrong...terribly wrong.
The mall was unusually crowded and Mrs. Anderson's wishes were granted. The girls had a fun time. They saw the latest Twilight movie, much to Grace's displeasure. She disliked the Twilight saga, and found the love story in it to be based on lust and attraction...it had no depth, she felt...and she also felt that the heroine was a spineless damsel in distress. Jane loved it though, she was swooning over Edward Cullen throughout. After the movie they saw a fifteen minute 4D [Four Dimension] movie which was full of turbulent movements which Grace thoroughly enjoyed. After the movie, which left Jane in jitters, the girls had dinner at McDonalds. Both of them had a Cheeseburger and pepsi. Once their outing was over, it was around 10:00 p.m. They finally walked back to the bus stop. Their bus was already there. They got on and went home. Jane insisted on accompanying Grace to her home, but she firmly denied. She walked down the town and the lonely street to her house.
As she approached her house, she saw that all the lights were switched off. She thought it had something to do with the "surprise" her father had spoken about, but as she approached it closely she saw that the front gate had come off. She ran up her house and pushed open the door. Everything was dark. She took out her cell phone and flashed the light around to look for her parents. But the sight that met her was truly horrific.
The whole living room was thrown apart, literally, and her father was lying unconscious, his head facing downwards and his leg up on the sofa. Grace shook him to get some response out of him, but he didn't stir. She checked to see if he was breathing, but he wasn't. She flashed the phone sideways and saw her mother lying in a crippled position in the foot of the stairs. She ran to her and tried to revive her, hot tears flowing down her cheeks.
"Mom, mom," she cried. "DAD! MOM! Wake up...what has happened?"
"They wont awake," a small, sad whisper came from the back.
Grace turned back and saw two people wearing black cloaks. She couldn't see their faces clearly in the darkness. They walked towards her, and she clutched her mother tightly.
"We are sorry we couldn't make it on time to save them," one of them told. It was a man was thin, tall and lanky.
"They are dead Grace," the other one said, a lady. She was upto the man's height.
"NO NO NO!" Grace screamed. "Who the hell are you, and what did you do to my parents?"
"We wish we could have made it on time to save them, my child," the lady said. "But we were too late."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY TOO LATE?" Grace yelled. "WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THEM? THEY CANNOT BE DEAD! THEY WERE PERFECTLY FINE-"
"Grace-"
"Tell me," Grace snapped. "How could they have died? I mean...both were perfectly healthy...no diseases..."
"They were murdered, Grace," the lady said, sadly.
"MURDERED?" Grace roared. "Who would want to murder my parents? And there is no visible injury..."
"Grace will you let us exp-"
"First and foremost," Grace seethed. "Who are you? Why are you dressed so oddly, and why did you say you were too late? Did you know my parents would get..m-m-mmurdered?"
"I am Neville Longbottom," the man said. "Professor of Herbology in Hogwarts-"
"Herbo...what?" Grace asked.
"And I am Professor Victoria Summers," the lady said. "And I teach Muggle Studies in Hog-"
"STOP FOOLING AROUND!" Grace yelled. "What nonsensical, fake subjects are you talking about? Herbology? Muggle Studies?"
"Grace you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," Professor Longbottom said.
"School of what?" Grace asked, shocked.
"Grace Anderson, you are a witch," Professor Summers said, with a kind smile.
That's it guys! Hope you all liked it. :) I worked hard on the first chapter. Will update soon though! :D
