Summary:- The Tales of Harry Potter is a series of online books which tells Harry Potter's tale from his first year in Hogwarts and so on. In this series both of Harry's parents- James and Lily are alive and haven't been killed by Voldemort.

Chapter One:- The Family Which Lived

Ten year old Harry Potter was tossing and turning in his comfortable bed unable to fall asleep. There was only half an hour left for midnight which meant it would be Harry's eleventh birthday. He was fidgety and restless and kept murmuring to himself. He switched the night lamp on and off and couldn't stop looking at the clock to see whether it had struck twelve or not. The time ticked away very slowly and soon it was 12:00 am July 31st.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HARRY POTTER! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!" Harry screamed on the top of his lungs. Within a split second his parents James and Lily Potter burst into his room looking quite upset due to being disturbed from their deep slumber.

"Shh!" Lily whispered. "Don't make noise Harry!"

"But mom it is my eleventh birthday!" Harry insisted. "I want to make some noise!"

"The boy has got some point!" James said. "I was just as excited for my eleventh birthday!"

"James!" Lily said indignantly. "Harry go back to sleep, otherwise you will wake up the baby!"

"Aren't you guys going to wish me?" Harry asked, looking expectantly at his parents.

"Happy Birthday sweety," Lily said. "Now go back to bed and don't try waking anyone up!"

"Happy Birthday son! We are so proud of you! We couldn't have asked for a better son! I hope you grow up to be just like me!" James blabbered and Lily pulled him by the arm and tugged him out of Harry's room and switched of the lamp with the flick of her wand.

Harry lay back in bed and thought for a while about his life but couldn't think of anything better to do so he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

At around 9:00 AM July 31st Harry's eyes flew open and he sat up in bed in a split second. James and Lily on hearing this were in his room before Harry could put on his round glasses. In between Lily and James was Harry's little sister Felicity who was eight years old. Lily was 31 years old and she had dark red hair upto her shoulders. She had brilliant green eyes which were smiling at her eleven year old son. James had dark black hair which was messy just like Harry's. Felicity had short curly hair which was a mixture of red and black. Harry was thin and lanky just like both his parents. He had a lightning scar on his forehead and his hair was black just like his father's.

"Mom! Dad! Felicity!" Harry exclaimed. "How did you guys get here so fast?"

"We apparated silly!" Lily exclaimed smiling.

"But...how did Felicity?" Harry asked confused.

"Side-along apparation. She held onto our hands and here she is!" James said laughing.

"How come I was never side-along apparated?" Harry asked.

"Well...no particular reason! Now get up! Happy Birthday son!" James said.

"You should be happy you haven't side-along apparated. It feels nasty!" Felicity said. "You know not good."

"Yeah...I guess I can understand that smarty-pants!" Harry said.

Felicity was truly smarty-pants. She topped all her classes in Muggle school and she was way ahead and much much smarter than other students in her grade. Harry on the other hand was an average student who got decent grades.

"Brush your teeth and have a shower!" Lily said. "And be quick!"

"Yeah you don't want to keep your guests waiting!" Felicity said.

"Guests! Who?" Harry squealed.

"You will see enough!" James said.

Then he, Lily, and Felicity apparated out of there. Harry jumped out of bed and ran into his bathroom. He quickly had a shower, changed and ran downstairs. There he saw-

"Padfoot and Moony!" Harry exclaimed. "You guys came!"

Harry ran into his father's best friends Sirius Black (Padfoot) and Remus Lupin (Moony) and hugged them. Both of them had gone on a secret mission and it was doubtful whether they would make it for Harry's eleventh birthday. He was very close to both of them and was very glad to see them.

"Of course Harry!" Sirius said and flicked his wand. Immediately there was a big box in his hand. He handed it over to Harry. Harry took it eagerly and ripped it open. It was a broomstick repair kit.

"Wow!" Harry exlcaimed excitedly. "This is just so cool! Thanks Padfoot! You are the coolest godfather ever!"

"Don't forget me!" Remus said and flicked his wand. Immediately there was a box in Harry's hand. He ripped it open and saw a sneakscope, a device which sparkles when something sneaky and unfaithful was around.

"You are cool to Moony! You two are the coolest godfathers ever!" Harry said smiling broadly.

"Now for our gifts!" James and Lily said in unison. They flicked their wands together and the table was filled with gifts. Harry ran eagerly towards it and opened all of them to find various items.

"This is just so cool!" he exclaimed happily. "This is so the best birthday I have EVER had!"

"Don't you want my gift?" Felicity asked.

"Sure thing!" Harry said.

Felicity ran upstair and came back and handed over a wrapped present to Harry. Harry opened it and saw a book titled How to be the perfect brother.

"I thought I was already the perfect brother!" Harry chuckled.

"Well this is how I want you to be!" Felicity replied.

"I will try!" Harry said smiling.

The four Potters along with Sirius and Remus had a wonderful day celebrating eleven year old Harry's birthday. All six of them were exhausted. They were lying exhaustedly on different couches in the Potter's house. Suddenly there was a sound and all twelve eyes shot to the fireplace and Lily muttered a spell a a brillian white owl holding an envelope in its mouth flew upto Harry and dropped it on his lap.

"For me?" Harry asked the owl.

"Silly boy!" Sirius said. "Owls don't talk!"

"That must be your letter from Hogwarts!" Remus said.

Harry looked at the from address and yes, it was from Hogwarts. He opened the envelope carefully and read the letter:-

Dear Mr. Potter,

You are invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

With this letter I have enclosed the list of textbooks and other items you to bring with you on the first day of school.

You should catch the Hogwarts Express on September 1st at platform 9 3/4 quarters.

Do not be late. We look forward to seeing you on September 1st,

Harry went through the list of textbooks and other items for his school year and looked at his family and friends who were beaming at him.

"Where do we get all these books and supplies?" he asked.

"Diagon Alley." Lily said.

"We will take you there soon, don't worry!" James said.

"Will you guys come along too?" Harry asked, looking at Sirius and Remus.

"We have a mission and we are really busy." Remus said.

"But we will really try to be there!" Sirius added.

"I hope so!" Harry said.

"When can I go there too?" Felicity asked looking at her parents.

"When you turn eleven." Lily answered.

"But I wanna go with Harry!" Felicity said.

"That's impossible!" Harry said. "I will see you in four years!"

"You will have to come back for your holidays!" James said.

"That I don't mind! Is Hogwarts a good school?" he asked.

"Of course! It is the best!" James, Lily, Sirius, and Remus said together.

"I can't wait!" Harry said smiling.

"You will have the time of your life! Better be in Gryffindor or else we will disown you!" James joked.

"James!" Lily said. "Give the boy a break!"

"Gryffindor?" Harry asked.

"It is one of the houses in Hogwarts. There are four houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Huffelpuff, and Slytherin." Lily said.

"Gryffindor was where your mother, Sirius, Remus and I belonged to. It is where the ones who were brave got sorted into." James said.

"Ravenclaw contained the smart ones." Sirius said.

"Huffelpuff contained the ones who were loyal and faithful." Remus said.

"That's about it!" James said.

"What about Slytherin?" Harry asked.

"Slytherin contained the ones who were evil, and cruel! Don't ever go to that house!" James said.

"Slytherin is fine!" Lily said. "Harry don't listen to them. No matter which house you go to we will love you all the same."

"Thanks mom!" Harry said and hugged his mother.

"Anyways it is time for Sirius and myself to leave." Remus said.

"Can't you guys stay over?" Harry asked expectantly. "Please?"

"No can't do! We have a lot of work! But we will see you before you leave for Hogwarts!" Remus said.

"Bye guys! I will really miss you!" Harry said.

"We will miss you too." Sirius said smiling. He was very fond of his godson. "Bye!"

"Bye Harry, James, Lily, and Felicity! See you soon!" Remus said and the two disapparated.

By night time Harry and Felicity were playing a game of magical chess.

"I really need to go to the bathroom Fels!" Harry said. "Be right back!"

He sped upstairs but paused next to his parents bedroom when he heard them speak.

"How long can we keep this from him Lily?" James asked.

"I don't know James...we will tell him when he gets of age." Lily replied.

"But...wont he wonder why he gets so much attention at school?" James asked.

"What do we tell him James? Should we tell him there is a murderous dark wizard who tried to kill him shortly after his first birthday? That he tried to kill all of us and that he lost his power when he tried to get through you and me? That the killing curse he sent to the three of us rebounded and hit himself instead? That he may regain power one day and will come after us? That that is why he has the lightning shaped scar on his forehead? Tell me James, is that what we should tell him?" Lily asked crying. "Don't you see how happy he is? Don't you want to ruin it all?"

"Do you think he will be safe at Hogwarts?" James asked.

"That is the safest place on earth for him James. With Dumbledore being there I don't think Harry is any danger. Don't worry sweetyheart, he wil be fine." Lily said.

"Do you really think so?" James asked.

"Yes honey." Lily replied.

Harry heard them kiss.

On hearing all this he walked into the bathroom and closed the door. After doing his business he changed into pajamas and went into his room and banged the door.

"What is that noise Harry dear?" Lily called out.

"Nothing mom...just felt like banging the door." Harry replied.

"Don't do that again!" she said.

"Yeah...whatever." Harry said.

"Harry! Come down! We have a game to finish!" Felicity called out.

"I'm feeling too sleepy. We will play some other day." Harry said.

"Is it because I'm winning? Don't be such a spoiltsport!" Felicity said.

"Just shut up!" Harry said and switched off his night lamp.

He lay in bed and thought about what he had heard from James and Lily. He couldn't believe it that they had hidden such a terrifying truth from him. He wanted to confront them but his love for them prevented him from doing so. He would do that another day.

Chapter 2:- Diagon Alley

The rest of the holidays flew by uneventfully for Harry and the Potters. It was the day for Harry to go shopping in Diagon Alley. He was already ready and was waiting at the breakfast table while Lily was cooking breakfast. James was in the room changing his clothes for the visit. Felicity was at the table too and was making witty comments at everything.

"Just stop it Felicity!" Harry said fed-up.

"Why Harry, just because you aren't smart enough?" Felicity retorted.

"Felicity please stop it. What is wrong Harry? Ever since your birthday you have been unusually moody. What is with you?" Lily asked concerned.

"Mom!" Felicity complained.

"Felicity. Your room. Now." Lily said pointing her finger towards the staircase.

Felicity got up and went upstairs. Lily sat down on a chair next to Harry and patted his head.

"What's wrong dear? Why are you so upset?" she asked.

"Nothing mom." Harry replied.

"I know there is something bothering you, otherwise you wouldn't shut yourself in your room not talking to anybody. I'm your mother Harry, no one knows you better than I do. Please tell me. You know you can trust me." Lily said softly.

"Do you trust me mom?" Harry asked.

"Of course I do Harry. What sort of a question is that?" Lily asked.

"Well then...if you trust me please don't ask me what is wrong. I will tell you when I'm comfortable doing so. Until then I would like to keep it to myself." Harry said.

"If you put it that way...okay...but do talk to me whenever you feel like. You should know that I am always here for you and so is your father." she said and hugged her son.

"Thanks mom. I will definitely talk to you when I'm ready." Harry said smiling.

"Now that's my boy!" Lily said and got up from there. She went upstairs and into the bedroom she shared with James.

"I don't know what it is James. He seems to be going through something but he doesn't want to tell." she said.

"Do you think it is puberty?" James asked.

"Could be...but we will ask him again later and that time you can do the honors!" Lily said and disapparated from the room and back into the kitchen.

After a hearty breakfast, Harry, Felicity, Lily, and James got into their bewitched car which was given to them by the Ministry of Magic. The car was completely secure with charms and entachments and was undetectable to the Muggle eye.

Harry sat silently at the back and kept looking out constantly as if something was going to jump into the car and eat him up.

"Why do you keep looking out you prat?" Felicity asked.

"Mind your own business!" Harry replied.

"Harry don't talk to your little sister like that and Felicity don't use such language!" Lily warned.

"I think Harry is going through puberty." Felicity remarked, smirking.

Harry blushed and his cheeks turned a deep red color.

"NO! It is not puberty! It is a personal problem!" Harry yelled.

"Geesh! Puberty is a personal problem silly!" Felicity said sniggering.

"Just stop it! Why can't you stop worrying what I'm doing?" Harry asked.

"Felicity stop worrying about Harry." James said and Lily nodded in approval.

"Everyone likes the first child!" Felicity muttered under her breath.

"Here we are!" James exclaimed. "Diagon Alley!"

"It was about time..." Harry said.

"I don't know what is wrong with you Harry but your recent behavior isn't helping in anyway. We are all trying but you aren't." Lily said.

"Yeah Harry, we were waiting to show you this place but you are hardly interested!" James said.

"I am excited guys...I am unable to show it." Harry said.

"Whatever it is please stop being a spoiltsport and enjoy life when you can, you don't know how precious your life is." Lily said.

"Yeah I know." Harry said.

"Good. Now be a good boy and put on a smile and come!" Lily said. "You will meet some fellow wizards who will be joining you in Hogwarts. Try to make as many friends as possible. Felicity, keep the witty comments to yourself please."

"Okay mother." Harry said and plastered a smile.

"Yeah whatever." Felicity said put on a fake smile.

The four Potters got out of the car and went to a big marketplace named "Diagon Alley" which looked like a plain brown bricked wall to the Muggle eye. They walked into the market and was greeted by many wizards and witches talking on the top of their voices and hustling-bustling around.

"Boy this place is crowded!" Harry exclaimed grinning.

He kept walking around looking all around him when he bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! I wasn't looking! I mean this place is just so amazing!" Harry said all at once.

"It's okay dude!" the tall boy he had bumped into said. He had red hair and was wearing a red shirt which had the letter "W" knitted onto it. "I'm...Harry Potter!"

"Your name is Harry Potter too?" Harry asked in awe.

"No no no! My name is Ron Weasley! You are Harry Potter!" Ron said grinning at him.

"How did you..." Harry wondered. Then he recalled the overheard conversation and fell quiet. "Nice to meet you Ron. Are you going to Hogwarts too?"

"Yup! I am a first year! I can't wait! I have heard it is a great school! My brothers have told me that is an excellent school!" Ron said.

"Whom are you talking to Ronald?" a female voice asked, out of nowhere.

"Mom come here! Look who I am talking to- Harry Potter!" Ron said, calling his mother.

Mrs. Weasley was a plum short woman with red hair.

"Hello Harry! It is a pleasure to meet you dear!" Mrs. Weasley said. "James and Lily Potter, it is so nice to meet you!"

She started a conversation with James and Lily while Harr talked to Ron.

"So have you been here before?" Harry asked.

"Loads of times! Haven't you?" Ron asked.

"Not really...my parents wanted to keep me and my little sister Felicity away from the wizarding world until I came of age." Harry said. "I wonder why!"

"So are you here to shop for your school items?" Ron asked.

"Of course! Are you?" Harry asked.

"Yeah! Do you want to go shopping with me?" Ron asked.

"Really? That would be great! Let me go and ask my parents!" said a happy Harry. He sped off to James and Lily.

"Mom! Dad! Can I go shopping with Ron?" he asked.

"Of course! I'm so glad you have made a friend already! But first let me get you some money from our vault in Gringotts. Wait here please." Lily said and she walked off towards Gringotts Wizarding Bank with James.

James and Lily came back soon and met up with Harry, and Ron.

"Here," James said handing over a bag to Harry. "Your shopping money. We will meet you back in the Leaky Cauldron in hour."

"We will be there!" Harry said and took the bag of money. Then he and Ron walked off towards the other side.

"All I have to buy are the books and a wand. I inherited everything else from my brothers." Ron said embaressed.

"Oh I have to buy everything. I have no older brothers you know. Wouldn't mind it. It would be a lot of fun!" Harry said.

"Fred and George are quite fun when they are not pranking you. Percy is alwayc boasting about topping class and I don't see Bill and Charlie around much anymore." Ron said.

"I can't wait to meet them! Do they go to Hogwarts too?" Harry asked.

"Percy is in his fourth year. Fred and George in their third year. Bill and Charlie graduated a while ago!" Ron said.

"So I reckon we will be meeting them on the train!" Harry said excitedly.

"Oh sure you will!" Ron said. "Hey there is Ollivanders! We buy our wands here!" Ron said.

"Cool!" Harry said and they walked into the store.

Both Ron and Harry returned to Leaky Cauldron in a while. They parted ways and Harry went home with his family while Ron went home with his.
