So guys... here's our Discussion of the Fortnight!
Is there any character in the HP books that you started off disliking but started to like later on? If so which one was it? Why did you dislike them? What made you like them later on? Happy discussing!

Great question!! But my answer would have to be Snape!
I didn't like Snape that much in the beginning because I thought he was making Harry's life harder than it allready was...end especially after he killed Dumbledore! But then when I read Deathly Hallows and realized that he was really on Dumbledore's side, and that it was all planned...I didn't feel so negative towards him. I actually felt extremely sorry for him when I found out that he loved Lily. When Voldemort killed Snape, I literally wanted to snap Voldemort's face in two...😆😆

Snape is too obvious of a choice, so I'll choose....Draco Malfoy.
He was a really annoying prat in the beginning of the series, and I wanted to bang my head against the book whenever he entered the story, but later, especially in Half Blood Prince, I started pitying his character a lot, because he was practically being forced to do something he wanted no part in, and he couldn't take it anymore. It's not like he liked Dumbledore or anything, but he didn't have it in him to kill anyone, unlike his father, and that's what made me like his character later on in the series.

Snape would be my first, first choice! I really hated him in the first few books, I couldn't understand why he couldn't be like all the other teachers.

I mean of course other teachers were heads too but they never favored their house whereas Snape would always favor the Slytherins. I thought it was highly unfair of him to do that as a Professor.

Secondly, his awkward and quite repelling behavior with Harry. I couldn't think why he wasn't sympathetic at times with Harry and instead he would make his life so horrible. I couldn't grasp the fact why he couldn't be normal and likeable.

Lastly, I couldn't control my anger and disgust for him when he killed Dumbledore, but deep inside I knew that it had to part of some sort of a plan.. Dumbledore couldn't be fooled so easily.

Then I started liking him for the obvious reason.

hmmm...im stuck between Snape and Draco...and i cant think of anyone else as of now😆

I totally hated Snape in the early books because of his rudeness to Harry, but when i found out he loved Lily and was protecting Harry i felt so bad for hating him😆...his character turned out to be positive! it was kind of shocking though..

my reply...ummmmm...🤔.....my answer would be draco...i think i don't need to say why i hated him...but his behaviour towards the end of the series was much better...i liked the part in the beginning of book 7 where he is sitting with all the death-eaters...the way his character has been potrayed by the actor(sorry to say i don't know his name) is also good...!!!

I would say Ginny.
I did'nt dislike her in Chamber of Secrets because I didnt pay much attention to her character. To me, she was just a plot device to get Harry to fight Riddle. Nothing more. Just like how Lavender felt like a plot device to get Ron realize his feelings for Hermione. (At least that's how JKR wrote these characters.) Later, I found it a bit strange that her character, all of a sudden, changed into a feisty, popular girl from a shy, fade-into-the-background girl. I think that was the time I disliked her the most. I felt like she was a pretty non significant character before HBP and suddenly she becomes very important. But, Ginny's attitude towards Hermione and Ron angered me the most. But, now when I look at her character in retrospect, I feel the reason for my intense dislike towards Ginny was my own personal bias because she dared say anything to Ron/Hermione since their characters are VERY personal to me and I just could'nt stand that a character who has just gained importance (since she was'nt with the trio completely through all the books) dared to say anything. And I guess she had grown on me because I realize that she has some very good qualities like being friendly and nice to what were considered "uncool" people (Luna and Neville), standing up for what she believes in, being independant and incredibly strong.
