What was your first public performance like?
My first public performance off-screen was during a dance competition when I was only four. I often participated in competitions. My first on-screen performance was in Peshwayi on Alpha Marathi. It was a dance item in the programme. Besides that, I did 30 episodes of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na with Kushal Punjabi, six episodes of Hello Dolly on Star Plus. I did a negative role opposite Aman Verma in KumKum Pyara Sa Bandhan on Star Plus and now it is Hare Kaanch Ki Choodiyan on Sahara One.
Could you elaborate a little on your role in Hare Kanch Ki Choodiyan?
Well, I play the lead role. The name of my character is Shamli. She is a very innocent and strong headed girl. She is bubbly and cute. She loves everyone around and looks for someone who can love her too. She is somebody who would go to any extent to fight for truth. She is a very strong willed girl. Her innocence leads her to places and sometimes to her downfall.
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to play Waheeda Rahman's character in Guide. That role is so dance-oriented. To me, dance is worship.
Which is your favourite and most memorable performance?
I have done theatre for long. I feel my favourite performance was in a play written by Dilip Prabhavalkar, called Premasathi Vattel Te. It was a comic play.
What are your future plans?
I would continue doing Hare Kanch Ki Choodiyan. I have already shot for pilot episodes of three teleserials where I play lead roles. If they are approved, I will surely be doing them.
