Amrita Prakash is 19 and she is happy that she's playing her age on screen too. "I don't see myself wearing a mangalsutra or wearing saris all through the day," she laughs. Amrita plays the rebellious Sanskriti in Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai. "The character is very strong-headed and stubborn. She doesn't believe in customs and even goes for a relationship . I don't think there are many characters like her on TV," she says. And does she identify with the character. "I am very strong-headed , but I am not really stubborn. As fas as live-in realtionships go, I don't know if I would go for one, but they are certainly not tabboo anymore," says Amrita. And though Amrita maybe playing a modern character she doesn't look down on the family dramas on television . "They are working, arent they? People love watching them, that's why producers are putting in money to make them," she says. Meanwhile, it's not just television that keeps her busy. Amrita's also busy studying these days. "I am doing my graduation from Mithibai college. Though I can't attend all the lectures, I try to go to college if the pack-up is announced early or if it's a late shoot I go on the sets from college. It's hectic, but I want to complete my education. I am very focussed about it," she says. Having worked in films like Tum Bin and Vivaah, isn't Bollywood on her wishlist? "I want to finish my graduation and then pursue Bollywood, till then I am keeping myself busy with television," she says. |
