Looking at the scenes of Nikhil and Ishana, Ziks your analysis seems right. I also feel Sami and Jes are right too. My POV is that Nikhil deep down Loves Laajo for being a good human being. However he is struggling to put behind the past and forget Laajo may be because in his subconscious he has feelings for Laajo. In his Struggle he is trying to be normal as well as over enthusiastic with Ishana flirting with her , so that she does not bring Laajo's topic in between. But Alas Ishana's insecurity is getting the better of her and even for a trivial thing like the bracelet she is suspecting and blaming Nikhil. Ishana knows that Nikhil has feelings for Laajo which he is trying to conceal more so after she saw his agitated exit when Ranjo told him about Laajo's Love.

Even I don't want Nikhil to be with Laajo because of Ishana's insecurity. But the point here is that Nikhil already has feelings for Laajo which he doesn't want to accept because of his compulsion to be with Ishana whom he thinks he loves as they are together for 10 years. As and when he will see Ishana's true colors ( evident from upcoming tracks) slowly he will get away with the compulsion and start to think objectively about relationships only then he will openly accept the fact that he Loves Laajo and all he feelings for Ishana were just to hang around and not worth it .😆
