lovely post piu ! i loved todays epi i watch this show religiously its a great show at times hell scary todays epi was no exception in india where most of the students comes from the secured enviourment such treatment by the seniors is shocking and disgusting..i really felt for the two guys... but at the same time i could relate to aditya and the gang as well...remember how brutually he was ragged by his seniors and wen noone was there to rescue t...hey accpeted this as norm of society or a unwritten rules of college life... if someone is junior he must be prepare for ragging and if a person is senior he must rag the junior... pathetic naa
and coming to the actors oh it was a treat to watch neil karan avi rahul aditi all power packed actors in a single epi avi was a suprise package i loved his acting... aditi was cute as usual karan a powerful host indeed and neil wooh he stole the show i loved to hate him...really he rocked as aditya hats off blue boy u did a marvellous job...
p.s. rahul kamra was playing which character ????? i kept eagle eye on him but couldnt recognize him ???any guesses????
What a spine chilling episode as it not only raised another issue which is major cause of increased teen crimes but it also opened a pandora's box about the practice of Ragging still prevalent in colleges
Let us first trace back the history of Ragging..Basically Ragging emerged as a part of orientation process of newcomers in college where they were made to shed their inhibitions by indulging in casual talks by making them do silly acttivities like singing etc..But slowly and steadily this process of orientation became EQUAL to Bullying'Physical and mental atrocity being EQUATED TO RAGGING.
If we really try to analyse what triggers this kind of violent behaviour in youngsters specially in medical students,we may come to a very interesting phenomenon known as dehumanisation which works specially for medical students.Well as a student enters college with hopes and aspirations ,he opens for himself a whole new diaspora of events and people .People from different spheres of life..Some innocent, some aggressive. So he or she deas with a whole new world.
STEP1 The process of De humanisation starts at this step itself'Dissection being a part of the curriculum brings forth to you and makes you face to face with GORE ,WITH BLOOD.It slowly and steadily makes you reach a point where your heart stops feeling and you actually assume all this gore as a part of your life.
Step 2-The teachers and staff do play an important role in this dehumanization process .The work pressures associated with medical profession makes the people associated a little frustrated and thus all that frustration on the part of the staff finds its way to the students which initiates a cycle frustrating students in turn and contributes in a different kind of bullying..If you do not agree ask any medical student what am I talking about
Step3- The MOST CRUCIAL ONE!! The pressure to fit in'Fit in the COOL gang. This has by far been the most important aspect commonly prevalent in teens where Being COOL is associated with being a BULLY ,being in power and associating yourself with bad habits.
STEP4 'Finally the final nail in the coffin of the dehumanisation process is Of course ragging upto the levels of physical and mental tortures. While we are shocked in this episode how Aditya and Gang can be so heartless ,then the logical answer would be that they have actually gone through all the steps of dehumanization.. Being tortured in the most atrocious ways by their seniors ,it comes out to be their turn to avenge all that was done to them .Now we might question that why can't we be optimistic and try to fight this system .Then the answer is fighting the system requires lots of strength which is lacking mostly in people like Aditya and Gang .So its simple all that they have suffered comes out as more torture to their counterparts now.Its a common theory in psychology. There is a point when a person who is continuously oppressed lashes back and turns to be the avenger when he gets a chance to.
Also a very crucial role is played by the fact that all this is made to appear RIGHT to these people. So when they complete this process of step by step dehumanization ,the end product is a ruthless and violent behaviour..
The OPPRESSED now becomes the AGGRESSOR.And THUS THE CYCLE CONTINUES!!
Am I supporting RAGGING!! NO by no means such practices should exist .I CONDONE IT!! But what lacks on our part is that the root cause is not one Aditya or his gang. The problem lies in the system itself. Unless there are 360degree changes in the SYSTEM ,NOTHING WILL CHANGE.
We might punish Aditya and his gang but what about several Aditya and Gangs still in the pipeline for this process of dehumanization.
Now The QUESTION arises as to what changes can we make.Universities and campuses already have STRICT ANTI-RAGGING CELLS .But then why this process or cycle continues? The answer is SIMPLE. Prevention is always better than CURE.So there should be certain radical changes and options available in campuses
FOR EXAMPLE-
1.Introduction of Psychological counselling for orientation of new students as well as allowing them to mingle in a healthy way by organising youth festivals and stuff
2.By introduction of awareness programs ,promoting healthy discussions
3.To channelize all the negative energies into positive ones by introducing lots of interaction in the campus thereby de classifying the the gap that exists in seniors and juniors.
4.Als parents should really pay attention to the behavioural changes in students so that they can clearly sense the impending doom on their wards and take action rather than encouraging this practice by saying ki ye sab to chalta hi hai'.
4.ABOVE ALL PUNISHMENT OF THE GUILTY IS A MUST.If someone is being associated with such heinous crimes. They should be duly punished before it is too late
There can be many solutions'But my QUESTION is Whether the quest for power and forced respect so appealing that seniors stoop low to CLAIM RESPECT!!
Respect and LOVE as a SENIOR can only be achieved and not FORCEFULLY CLAIMED. Physical and mental abuse in the name of RAGGING AND FUN IS A PRACTICE TO BE CONDONED BY ONE AND ALL.
There is a pleasure in winning hearts rather than forcefully bullying and claiming respect.
What do you think guys?
Well all this comes me,who is a doctor and has passed similar years in a medical college.Where making you stand for hrs locked in a morgue in the name of making you fearless was a part of the ragging process.
