Hola fellas!

So here comes the next thread - with some teensy clips that you guys might throw glare hexes at me for, but in my defense, I wanted to add a random line or some about them. So, erm. Yeh.

What I am doing is, posting the written with the clips right now, for a change ... aka, exercising some rare (and shocking?) weekend discipline 😆 Okay, almost weekend. Friday doesn't count as weekday for procrastinators like me 😆

Anyway, enough of my digressing bak-bak. Despite the cliff hanger of a sadu return probability left like a threat at the end of the previous episode, we can happily discover Kesar is still behaving himself. Well, to begin with. Then of course things happen, as they should not and always do bless Murphy, and the Kesar leash snaps! And how!

Not more to say as a prelude to today's scenes, but I do want to post the promo that was aired for this episode (it was an ME) because like the handful of promos that were aired for Gulaal, this one too was the right amount of information leaked, and the right amount of suspense raised!

The Promo Link (courtesy original updater on YT)

And now for the scenes.

Scene 1:

I know, talk about starting a thread discussion with a Talli Gulaal scene - but I wanted to add the first bit, because I like how Gulaal's answer to Talli's "iska matlab hai use apni galti ka ehsaas hua" is not an instant YES, but a shayad. Despite the evident reform in Kesar - since the night of his tending to her when she was unwell, despite all the recent evidence of how he's warming up to her, showing every sign of being her Kesar as she knew him to be - Gulaal doesn't say a snap yes. And its interesting to me that she doesn't - not because she's holding any of his cold acts against him, but because she genuinely still finds herself at a loss of figuring out what's cooking in that twisted head of his, why he oscillates between this hot and cold moods - special mention here to the most recent twist of events in the jeep ride back. That she's cheerful and calm about Kesar taking her to see her family is evident from the way she shares it with Talli, the happiness is in her eyes - and yet, if she'd jumped the gun and said yes to Talli's question, I would have inevitably wondered if she suffered some partial amnesia about the last part of the jeep ride. Her 'shayad' is not shown as an explicit consequence of that rough end, but that it is hence illustratively included, is, to me, one of those many times that I appreciate how the CVs of this show didn't believe in showing scenes and forgetting about them to suit their convenience. Perhaps just a trivial detail, but still, goes on to show the consistency at large. Kesar has shown change, but that doesn't explain in any way, why he was so cold to begin with, nor why he is still alternating between extreme inexplicable mood swings - Gulaal's shayad stands justified.

In addition - to the latter GT bit, when MB is watching them from outside, I felt like him, except with lesser tolerance, and greater threat of wanting to go hit my head into a virtual wall! He was just giving a sober and his age apt exasperated tone down reaction of my more dramatic 'seriously Galool, why are you so compulsively a problem seeker?' one 😳 Vintage Gulaal.

---

Scene 2:

So I cut half of this scene while uploading, can't remember why, and it seems to be now, while watching it again, that I should have added that part too - especially since I bothered with adding the GT bits. Maybe I will upload it tomorrow sometime as a separate and post the link here - for now, please accommodate.

Anyway. The scene basically starts with Gulaal sharing the incompleteness of her happiness in the Vasant's sapna coming true, with his picture. As PB had noticed the day before, her grief seems to be fresh with this instance of the school opening, and Manasi as always does a great job with poignancy. MB walks in on her - oh those beautiful MB Gulaal scenes, I have no idea why I chopped this, grrr - in his typical fatherly way, consoles her, tells her that even Vasant would want her to be happy for a happy occasion like this, and not be shedding tears - sounds cliche when I say it like this, but its as good to watch as usual MB G scenes. Besides, everytime MB pats Gulaal's head, I think of what he promised her when her lagan got fixed with Vasant, of how he promised her, that his hand would always be upon her in blessing and support, like that. And like Kesar told Gulaal's friends later, Gulaal, never one to deny MB, agrees with him, wipes away her tears, and smiles.

Then just as he begins to leave - scene included in the clip from here - Gulaal asks MB if she can go to the mandir first, of course MB consents, is telling her to go with Dushyant - and in the prime of the moment, with loha garam Kesar comes and strikes - uski zarurat nahin hai Motabha. Gulaal ko main le jaunga 😎 Kesarji continuing on his clean strokes from yesterday, impresses MB too with his 'gesture' of responsibility now - in addition to the long list of Gullu's maayka! Although, rishte mein to MB bhi Kesar ke baap hain - and he has that flickering moment of pause before saying okay to Kesar's offer 😆 He's probably wondering ye aj Kesar kahan se uga hai 😆 and as if on a consequent memory of how pichli baar bichari Gullu drown hote bachi thi, he adds - sambhal ke leke jaana - LOL at MB's dubious trust on Kesar 😆 Can't really blame the old man, Kesar has shown too many shocking 'true colors' for him to not even be surprised! And the way he turns to include Gulaal in the next part of the instruction - to reach on time for the ceremony - like he trusts her better than him to understand the importance of being on time... I love MB's body language here! Manoj Joshi is such a fine actor, there are all those subtle signs of how he's taking this leap of faith, and still assuring them once, and twice, and again - because he can't help but be wary of Kesuda and his ways, lol! And while Gullu gives him back an affirmative, Kesar ji to bas khade hain, waiting for his old man to exit so he can engage in nain matakka with Gullu 😆 Okay fine - I'll be fair to him, he does give those couple nods to MB, but honestly, I think his eyes are on Gulaal for the most... and kudos to Neil for how well he brings out that anticipation, despite his face not being in focus here - like he's waiting just to meet her eye once. And as soon as MB exit, he does turn right back, and do just that - and as always, in the span of a second or two, such a meaningful look exchanged. I personally thought Kesar was sort of checking out on her in that brief space - because he's overheard the conversation supposedly, and its for us to imagine how much or how little. In general, Gulaal looks evidently subdued and solemn, and the final brief exchange is Gulaal being just that, and Kesar ever so subtly looking at her, like he knows what she's feeling, like he shares that emotion - and like just with the sharing of that gaze, offering her comfort. And then, Gulaal lowers here eyes, ever so slightly, with that hint of a smile which understands the silent comfort being offered. Such a transient but touching exchange there, sigh!

Scene 3:

Okay, before I start off with GK here, I have to mention that the first time I saw this scene, I actually thought these two were the same guys who were Kesar's friends in the Talsagra bar scene 😆 I think it was the yellow kurta in particular that misled me and I was like 😲 why are his friends maroing such a palti 😆 Until Yogesh so kindly did what he does best - taunt Rewa - *cough* and clarify otherwise *cough*.

Onto the scene. One of the happy initial thing here (after the fact that GK had a bike date, which is one step up on jeep date ☺️ ) was the shot of them both in the temple, with Kesar a step behind, but a head taller. I just like the way it came out, like he had her back and all - in a warm protective way, while being a scene of him, subconsciously perhaps, standing a step behind her, than with her. Such a precise depiction of where Kesar stands currently, in his relationship with Gulaal - having in fact grown up enough to be her back wall now, for real, but yet not there, where it takes to be her equal.

Further kudos to the excellent camera angle, which on the one hand is focused on Gulaal's face (Manasi emoting so well in accordance with her voice over) while in the BG those two loafers can be seen just distinctly enough to make out their continued affronts. The depiction, again, not just literal, but also metaphoric, in how pure Gulaal (a woman) is, her prayer out and out about Vasant, her late husband - while those guys, who represent the kind of society and/or norms which practice ridicule and intolerance for such women at large, with their cheapskates on the GK bond, angled typically in demeaning Gulaal of course...

Phir kya! Le lo aur panga! I mean come on, these people don't follow local news or what? One would assume Kesar's reputation to precede him, the way he single handedly did safaai of all those goons upon his very entry/return 😆

Anyway, in Kesar's defense, those were two losers right there 😕 With all their unsolicited general info dispatch on the life of a 'widhwa' they called every one of those punches on themselves - and more 😡 Neil is fantastic - from the moment of his smile freezing for a nanosecond, followed by the transformation in his expression and body language, to the way he jumps off the bike, Gulaal immediately snapping out of her own offended mode to holding him back - and I LOVE LOVE LOVE those couple seconds of so that Kesar spends struggling in vain to be checked, that excellent slight touch of sheen and redness creeping into his eyes as he looks everywhere other than at her, and the way his teeth actually look like he grinds them, before SNAP, he's had it! Phir kaun tu aur kaun main 😲- bas dhishum dhishum

And not for the first time, I love the editing of this show. A scene that could have played on and on, for a billion repeat cycles of effects and what not - the camera work and final editing is so precise, nothing overdone, with just a flash of black and white freeze for one shot, and one more, respectively for Kesar's first punch to each of them, like it marks the moment of embarking the grey territory for Kesar. The scene manages to show the height of rage and outburst, without dragging or looking OTT, most importantly without repeating use of shots for nothing but to fill time. Not to forget I personally happen to love this BG score, from its usage in some prime and best executed GK confrontations. Also, the brief alternating between the scene at the location of the ceremony, is as if to convenience assumption that the 'fight' was longer than shown without putting us through the ordeal of brute overdose. I've known but few gory sequences done with the same impact in such a clean and quick way 👏

Moving on to Gulaal's expressions in the occasional shots of focus - a yet darker revelation and all the shock of it - so characteristic of Gulaal, to have not felt a 'harbored or protected' sort of instinct in the way Kesar stood up for her, but to be out and out appalled at witnessing this dark side to him, the sheer thoughtless extent of it, as she tells him later.

And on that note I want to point out, as I remember saying also for the kabaddi game after Kesar gets drunk - there is such realism in Neil's act and the whole finish of this scene - in the very last part when the men are holding him back, NB is not the 'hawt' youth in rage, nothing attractive to the camera in a trite manner, instead genuinely evokes something quite along the lines of Gulaal's own reaction - the shock, the stunned shudder and horror at the sight of him!

And want to point out a direct comparison, with the first Kesar scene where also he indulges in a fight - however a far more typical hero entry than much else, where as this scene was a glimpse to so much more of his person, even if I was to focus on the 'fight' alone. IMO, a direct representation of how far both Neil and Kesar come from the opening, in the unraveling and evolving of layers. 👏

As for the guys, not only did they deserve it, but were actually two blind fools who could have still run for their lives in time, but chose to make it to the ER instead... !

---

Scene 4:

(Okay I think we should include this scene in the next thread - cause there will be better flow to it - although it was a part of the ME, at least partly, as the promo also indicates. But for discussion, I find it better clubbed with the next series of scenes, so yeh?!)

---

And now jump into the discussion promptly all of you because me has been such an encouraging 'cue' on time this once 😆

Happy Friday everyone =)

Jzee..Happy Friday to you as well

So I cannot resist my temptataion to jump right into discussion this time After reading your excellent essay.

Well I would like to mention specially abaout the Scene 3.This is one one of those rare scenes where we actually came to experience the kind of extreme emotions of Kesar when It comes to Gulaal.Whether it is agony, pain, love, passion, possesiveness. His intensity is so well shot and kudos to NB for pulling this off so so well.I specially admire the scene where he tries to avoid his outburst though burning in fury on hearing the lewd remarks passed by those pathetic guys. The suppressed anger,His boiling temper and the way Gulaal holds his hands and tries to distract him and take him away.. but he won't budge. On any other occassion when Galool would have been so close,He would be all dreamy but the anger on his face and way he refuses to meet her eyes and tightens his jaws.is absolutely amazing. It also reminded me The scene when he comes to know about Dushy giving money to Talli's -in -laws .Even the uber cute gesture of Gulaal feeding him after the jaya parvati vrat could not soothe him and he constantly stared at Dushy. This Guy knows how to not lose his focus..😆

Well coming back to the scene..The way he bashes up those goons and his rage scares Gulaal..She had seen his mood swings and tantrums but this whole episode kinda frightens her.Her expressions are so genuine...Subconsciously she is horrified seeing this version of HER Kesar ..whom she used to mollycoddle and pamper. The intensity of rage and the tense body language potrayed by NB is absolutely amazing and the horrified expression of MP is equally praiseworthy. The scene has such intensity that anyone would end up having goose bumps on the kind of emotions Kesar had for Gulaal. She was the Only and the Ultimate woman for him.And everything for him revolved around her.No wonder he was so hurt by the mere fact that HIS Gulaal lied to him and the pareshani scene explicitly conveys the message of his level of passion for Gulaal when he sulks on the fact that why his and her world are not the same anymore.

Sigh Sigh...And then we see a metamorphosis of Kesar -a brat, possessive ,insecure ,jealous and angry Lover into a person who touches the crescendo of selfless and devotion in love😭

Haila..😲.Bole to maine kaahn se shuru kiya aur kya kay bak diya...Is liye I don't comment because ultimately I end up blabbering..Choory Jzee Tere ache se thread ko apni gol mol comment se sadane k liye

Ooops One thing more I just lubbed the title of the post👏

Arre wah - look who was here and active today 🤗 Piyu! And dude you need to succumb to thses kind of rambling temptations more often 😆

In particular from your comment - I love how you said this knows how to not lose his focus 😆 And although we can pass it off in the lighter vein, truly, Kesar's character has a near incredible extent of focus, when he chooses it like that - for a boy of ten to have been away and in a whole new world for a decade to come back with only greater resolve and focus to sort out a muddled past he left behind is tremendous - like how many normal people pass through their teens and adolescence with such steady one dimensional focus?! Like I once said before, I think of Srushee's thread, Kesar has the concentration of a magnifying glass - he can train his entire focus and power onto one subject and be like that for unimaginably long!

@goosebumps - perfect word Piyu! I'm not the usual keen on action sequences and fiction kind of person - very girl at that - but this scene is rare and different in the sense that far more than the fight itself, is the range of undertones to event itself - and for someone not so fond of the violent genre, I've watched this scene unusual number of times - especially that bit I mentioned when Gulaal tries to hold back and Kesar is looking everywhere in momentary futile restrain - 👏

And finally I love the way you talked about the transformation in him - well put Piyu 👍🏼

^^^Jzee actually I really do not comment so often or may be once in a blue moon coz I just end up saying anything and everything about Gulaal as a whole and cannot make sense..But ya I would agree at the goose bumps..I am also not a very action person..and I hate violent scenes..but this scene was so beautifully done that it sent shivers and chills down your spine..If I were Gulaal..I would have freaked out seeing someone like Kesar like an unleashed bubbling lava flowing out from a dormant volcano..The scene was really great in every sense..What is particularly intriguing about the character of Kesar is that his emotions are always extreme rising and ebbing like a tide ..He does not know something in between it is always extreme for him when it comes to Gulaal and even his focus had always been Gulaal..whether he decided to punish her and himself by staying away from her for 10 long years or whether he decided to completely devote himself to make her happy..it has always been extremes..Such was his fascination, passion, devotion and love for her..It reminds me how PB had once said pre-leap when chota kesu does a dharmendar paji sholay act by climbing on top of a terrace in his zidd to accompany Gulaal to her mayka...She said that "lagta hi nahi hai..ye mera beta hai..jab se tu yahan ayi hai..bas tera hokar hi reh gaya hai.."Such was the pinnacle of his selfless yet passionate love..Awww how could she not love him back in the end

And regarding the journey..it has been a treat to watch so a gradual transition in Kesar...👏

haila dekha Jzee..phir maine kya kaha..Does that make any sense...

bole to anu, mini,Maz koi to aao..aur Jzee k thread ko mere atyachaar se bachao🤣

Caps batch 1:

Does anyone else find it interesting that they only showed what Gulaal prayed for and not what Kesar prayed for?? Usually in these type of scenes in any show or movie, they always show the thoughts of the lead protagonists praying in a mandir...but in this case it's just Gulaal...intrigues me what Kesar must have been praying for...answers?

Phir shuru hota hai panga...lol

Kesar's steadily growing anger was interestingly shot

And this bit with Gulaal trying to rein him in...subdue him even as he's just ITCHING to break away and todo the muh of those two losers...lol

For very brief seconds he stops struggling with her

Then he loses that battle anyways...lol...like you can literally see the moment uska sir ghoom jaata hai...when his anger reaches that level

Yeh gaya...lol

Gulaal is so utterly horrified to see him like this...the way he was saying, "ab kyun bolti band ho gayi?" was awesome though...haha

Batch 2:

MB ki daant😆

Who's that omnipresent in the bg always behind Kesar literally giving the illusion of being on his side this time and watching over his shoulder? Vasant ofcourse! lol

Yeh lo...yahaan bhi ghoonghat defense, Galool? lol

He was hanging on by a thread with a mutinous expression on his face anyways and he finally bursts out! haha...so Kesar

Aur phir aa jaata hai Dushy...all well intentioned but still increasing the panga...lol

What a DEADLY venomous look he turns to give to Dushy...haha

Nice recap on the scenes JZ...you have mentioned all the tiny details really well👍🏼...absolutely agree with your thoughts on scene 1 &2

@scene 3..LOL even I thought for a second that those were Kesar's friends...but it wasn't thankfully...just a bunch of douchebags..

Agree about the mandir portions...love the symbolism there...and like Nur says it's interesting how we are not really shown what Kesar is praying for...normally in other soaps it would be something on the lines of jo bhi Gulaal maang rahi hai, wahi same to same..Amen ...lol... I believe he was just thanking the lord that his brother's dreams are materializing and he is glad to witness it.

@fight...I loved NB's expressions yea!...it is interesting is the way the same lines 'widhwa ki zindagi bhi koi zindagi hai kya'..can have 2 completely different tones, like we see when Kesar himself tells her the same thing before they try to break off the DV..

And for a moment even Gulaal was really pissed you can see it well in the cap Nur captured, but she would not have objected too much if he just yelled back at those losers or even maybe just gave one punch...the fact that he pursues them for long, hitting them and even as other people are stopping him, he can't seem to control himself..that scared her.. Kesar was 2 fast 2 furious..hehe..

@scene at home...I like how Kesar's tee collar is all up there..like he's the boss who knocked down 2 men..😆..

@Gulaal in ghoonghat defense...😆...MB had a valid point...she has been covering up for him all the time..and she knows it, but the situation has worsened now, and even she can't hide the wrong done by him..

Kesar's reasoning for beating those guys, seems so right from his POV..and this is exactly what he says to her much much later na that he cannot control his emotions when it comes to her..
but then MB has a good point too, about how one need not stoop low to get back at someone..

Basically I love the dialogues here..

And then Dushyant ka twist, firstly he tries to understand Kesar's pov, that it had to be some extreme words that made him take such steps..and further goes on to say that he would have probably done the same thing! Kesar isn't surprised here...but that piercing look says a lot...Dushyant just standing up for Kesar thinks he has helped ease the tension for the moment...

It's interesting how these brothers are alike in that sense..they both love Gulaal though ofcourse it all starts out in different ways for each of them...but they would do anything to fight for her honor..

Lovely caps Nur! ⭐️

Nur thank you for the caps 🤗 - and between Maz and you, you guys already discussed/capped the scene at home too! Which I was going to include for the next thread - but no care, you have less work for next time 😆 [I will come back and do more bak bak for sure, later]

But before all else just wanted to leave a quick note and say I might not be around or active enough the next few days because the ISA in my campus is under-forced anyway, and there's never any scope to make an excuse and opt out - so between school and prep for Diwali night, I'm going to be more or less MIA. Next thread postponed... until you see the new thread I suppose?! 🤔

In the meanwhile here's wishing everyone a very happy Diwali - especially those who formally celebrate it. Shop a ton, and eat all the good stuff in the world (feel free, or even obliged to share decent left overs *yum mmm*) and basically have a ball with all your folks!

🤗
