Boy, so much of 'genes talking' in this episode - like all damn over!
When you compare and contrast the Durgesh of a couple episodes ago, the mata ka/ki bhakt in the temple so genuine and moved by Gulaal's generous acceptance - with this Durgesh, who as you say Srushee, walks mid air high and mighty - one look at his father and his antics explains the story. Honestly, when I was watching that other episode I found myself wondering how just a rejection of proposal - that fair, when you think of the injustice to Gulaal (or any damn girl ) this alliance would have been - made him so vengeful and bitter, so as to do his best to turn her life upside down! It all comes together, in the FB sequence when we get to know the very obnoxious Mathuradas -MD - (ps: why were you calling him Jamnadas Srushee?) It shocks me a bit, actually disturbs me, that Revji did not see the blatantly out of line traits of this man in his attitude towards the eunuch at the mandir all those years ago. Revji himself holds back MD at that point mildly telling him not to behave hence, but honestly, how does he commit his future child to such a man's family?! It was almost God's hint to him, to not make such a hasty call, but I suppose everyone makes their share of naive decisions. FF to now, when MD makes his oh so pompous loud entry - how again does Revji deal with this man making jokes like ye ghar to tumara haina?! And what's with his annoying trait of throwing money 😡 ite the, to he should have given some to that eunuch at that point and saved the drama?! Why was he going to grab his throat for 'begging' when he can afford to flaunt and dish out notes like that?! 🤬 Okay, obviously, he just wanted to show his revulsion towards their kind - and however mean this sounds, he really did deserve what he got in the name of a first born son to show off to the world. Too bad the child had to bear consequences, but really, the fact that the child grows up to be someone like Durgesh - that extent of evil vengeance in him, despite an entire life of 'punishment' - if the worldly disgrace faced in his form, if his sheer mata ki bhakti doesn't humble him to defy his father's genes and be benevolent in spirit - well, he truly is his father's son! Honestly, the fact that he's even ready to marry someone, ruin a girl's life - is just PLAIN WRONG. He could have found a 1001 and one reasons to remain a bachelor, without revealing his truth - but he chooses to take the chance of ruining another poor girl's life to keep up the make believe prestige - gah! [Ignore my excess rant. These are personal grudges talking... nvm!]
Anyway - back to showoff Mr. MD put rightfully to spot by MB - on that note, I love how repulsed MB is at MD's ways. Its not just because his son is compulsively sacrificing here - its far far more in concern for Gulaal - his angel. That's exactly what I can't imagine, Revji not seeing, what is so plain to MD! This mockery in the name of joking from MD, ridiculous! Even PooBaa can see it transparently! Revji 😡 what were you thinking! Even if Duggu was a perfectly normal male, how could you pack off your daughter to such a place, which talks only about money! The same Revji who will (FF to future) tell Yogesh money doesn't groom a child or determine the kind of upbringing! Sigh, at his lack of acumen with regard to the future of her own daughter!
Btw - Vasant in his Devdas mode when he looks on sadly at Gulaal in tears, hugging her mother, as Revji gloats about his big catch for his daughter - is something of the image Gulaal herself was in the final week, everytime she would look at Kesar and his pain, and know how much of it was on account of her 'righteous' decision, how she could be the one to undo it with but a yes for a no - Vasant is exactly that image of guilt here! And his guilt heightens every second, after the entry of MD, and his ostentatious antics - 🤢 - SPECIALLY, when he throws all that money at Gulaal's feet, OMG REPULSIVE that was! Was Revji suddenly blind?! 😲 Did he not feel the piercing of that insult to his daughter - one who was such a self respecting (and dare we add self loving soul 😆 ) did he not for a second feel that offense everyone else in the room felt, even her father in spirit MB?! Jeez, for a moment it seemed even Dushy took offense, wake up Revji!!!
And talking of Dushyant - that quick scene between Jhankana and Dushy was epic 😆 Truly made for each other! Why we did we not see these two get together? Oh right, because that would have taken away the gem of Dushyant we got post leap, the sulking evil cupid JK's motivation to get GK awkward every second 😆 and of course, no green monster lurking around Kesar's mind! So yeh, Dushy had to sacrifice Jhankana for GK's lowe-ishtory 😆 But one a serious note, I have a huge what if about this episode. Which is, what if Duggu had been a proper straight male - and the rishta had been accepted. It was interesting how easy it seemed for Dushyant to get over his obsession for Gulaal here, which makes it evident that the peaking of his obsession had far more to do with his rivalry with Vasant, that the forbidden out of reach fruit that Gulaal was! Yes, he found a challenge in her being so elusive to him; but his obsession, the extent of it, was far far more fueled by the fact that Vasant was beating him to the deal! If she was going to anyone else, but Vasant, he was quite okay with giving up the chase!
On another note, the first look that Durgesh and Dushyant share reminded me hugely of how long these two were going to go, how long and how far! I was all dhyaan se dekhlo, ye dushmani bade aage tak nibhaani hai 😆
Anyway - overall, such a paced episode. One of the creepiest characters ever, in all this show - MD beats every bad character in this show - Dushy, Duggu, JK, Sudha and Giga while they were bad - every damn person! He's not intentionally evil but oh so ostentatious manner is enough to cut all the other genuine evil traits and be singularly repulsive! Truly, again, a man deserving of divine wrath as he received!

and onto next episode...
