JZee🤗...The title "Hate You; Hate You Not!" sums up the scene very well👏...this is soo apt for the scene😳...
This was the first confrontation between them...n the more interesting thing is that here gulaal is the one who is speaking her heart out, all the questions and concerns...but kesar on the other side is the one who is not letting it out...which I think never happened in the other confrontations between them...
I'm still inclined to believe at least a tad otherwise. I think the fact that Gulaal insists she can tackle Kesar, that he will listen to her - provides no solace to MB, not because he doesn't take her word 'now' - she's proven her forte at that, much more than anyone in the house, and with Vasant gone, she's the only one! But MB actually fears that's exactly what will happen. Kesar will get groomed entirely in Gulaal's hands and be growing up from a boy to a man at the same time; and then, knowing his son's possessive streak - which yes, has been innate and from the start - he obviously foresees Gulaal's DV decision backfiring. So although - yes, the decision is somewhat in combined favor - really, its far more for Gulaal. I don't think MB was so much rankled by the fact that Kesar would fall in love with Gulaal, as much as he was with his knowledge, that for Gulaal it would never be a reciprocation (who could have imagined it would be, at that point?). For someone who's own marriage was a DV, he wasn't against the custom - although the added point of Kesar being a child was of course always debatable especially for him as a parent to accept - but when Kesar did grow up, it was evident that the family never had an objections to accepting them as a couple - MB foresaw Gulaal's hitch, and he was really saving her, a lot more than saving Kesar. Although, in the long run, that became more or less synonymous... and he probably had an inkling of that too.
But so I tend to think. It was not an all out for Gulaal decision - and at least a part of it was probably even genuinely aimed at hoping Kesar would be better disciplined in a boarding ... but his bias was always in Gulaal's favor. It didn't translate to anti-Kesar, so it became a welfare decision for both - in MB's opinion anyway.

@bold: Very true! This is possibly the only confrontation where Kesar did not fully let out what he was feeling...usually he does it much more than Gulaal...she's the one usually holding back...but in this case she was speaking her heart out and he was the one caging himself.
Only one other time Gulaal lashed out at him and he didn't say much and that was the "chhii" scene😆...he only managed to get that 'chhiii" out in the end but apart from that he was too flabbergasted at the accusations she hurled at him...bechara😆
Phew managed to read each and every post on this thread in one go..finally..😛
Jzee,anu,maz..brilliant as always..👏
Well it is a bit late but I would like to add on that Mb was very sensible in a way when he actually warned Gulaal about the consequences of this DV after the bhang driven chotu kesu threw tantrums and came home demanding food to be served by his wife Gulaal.I remember Mb saying that Now Is Kesar is just 12..what will happen when he becomers 13,14 15,16..He will then interpret this relationship in his own understanding and terms. And the epic dialogue "tab tu kya karegi Gulaal"
And the classic ostrich Gulaal said that Kesar is still a bacha.Jzee I think Mb was a very sensible man and he also said that Gulaal can never understand because she is a woman. And I was reminded of his warning in the epic family scene post Talli marriage fiasco and kesar's confession where Kesar openly declares that Gulaal is leaving the house because he said that he loves her.OMG one master glare and stare by MB .He stood there silently ,gave a piercing look at Gulaal ..as if look ..I had warned you...😆
Well don't know what exactly I am blabbering .But yes the story writing has been very crisp and we can relate all the scenes together.
Well My question is that what if Kesar was never sent to boarding school and he grew up with Gulaal .Would it be the same or maybe MB fears would be laid to rest.
