Gulaal Should End

I know many people will be mad at me with me seeing the title.

But I really feel sad at how today's Television is operating.
Back when there was only Doordarshan and few Satellite channels.
The stories that were told were much bolder and realistic. People used to love them.

There was no race for TRP's only emphasis was given to content. Each show had it's targeted audience.

But today to cater to masses the Television has become senseless.

The Saas bahu dramas still garner highest TRP's where good has to always suffer and bad always wins (using their Kalakari). Long lavish weddings are more eye catchy with petty issues like varmala ordered, bridal dress color.
Bride swaps, baby swaps work like magic.

Gulaal is not liked by the masses because the women stands for her rights and can do anything for her family.
She would have been loved if she cried all the day after Vasant died instead of trying to save Mota bha.
People have loved her if she would have married Dushyanth transformed him and fell in love with him. Even it would be pathetic.
A 40 year old man can marry a 20 year old girl and fall in love. It is loved by one and all.
But in this country a 22 year old man cannot love a 28 year women. Just because they know each other from childhood.
But if they are of same age it is absolutely alright.

Only reason for Gulaal to be rejected by masses is she married a younger man.
No other reasons. And Star Plus instead of supporting such a good serial and actors wants to bring in another Saas bahu drama.

I am happy that Gulaal is ending on good note where so many people love it and miss it.
Just to garner TRP's the makers did not change the story.

Well said...Gulaal doesn't have mass appeal...the makers of this show actually dared to be content/storyline driven and that is unacceptable on Indian TV which is driven by the TRP audience and their whims.

And yes, at the base of everything, Gulaal was rejected cuz of GK's unconventional storyline...ppl can't handle it...which is sad cuz the treatment of that storyline is a class apart if anyone was to watch it properly.

But in general, ppl can't look beyond the age difference...why is the guy younger than the girl? It's just wrong...and to make it 'worse'...Gulaal has known him since he was a child...this is beyond the ability of the masses to digest.

Anyways, it's atleast good that Gulaal is ending on a logical note.

I agree I'd rather have it end like this, than the channel somehow demanding and dictating changes.

I'm just glad to have been able to watch and enjoy this show.

You are so right. SP dramas are sooo conventional and steriotype.
Star plus is starting another conventional drama dia or Baati, by ending our Gulaal. For their information, only 5 feet hight is not enough for working in police or Army. The heroine looks like a very weak normal girl, no hight, no little strength in body, but she want to be higher body in police.dia or Baati heroine should know that mental strength is most important to reach the goal. Sorry I am talking about body strength, but it does needed when you are going for a police or army. There is a hight restriction and the heroin should look like a strong personality. For sure she does not need to be manly, she need to a 100% woman, but with much stronger personality, than the way she is potrayed. Manasi/Gulaal looks perfect for that job😆, then the heroine of this new drama. Face is the index of mind and you will need to be an alfa female to lead those kind of profession. Husband has no role to take you to your goal. It is you who need to design your own destiny. If your inner power glow , nobody will stop you to reach your goal. The world will permit you to go there. Sorry but this dia or Baati does not make any sense to me. It is good to have dream but unreasonable dream is not possible to be real just by having a good husband. I wonder how her husband will change her physic to make her a police or an army person. Such a tiny small girl with very girly soft appearence , she will work in Police!!!!!. Silly start plus, all stories are unreasonable, beside Gulaal. A woman can make her dream true, only if she is capable. If her tallent glows, no body is there to stop her to get her dream, unless God stop her to reach there.
If you are an intelligent girl you will not choose a wrong life partner. If you choose a wrong one then you can drop any time.
Gulaal is a very mordern vision of a traditional woman. A woman, who is very traditional but most intelligent than any other "bohu"es in star plus, and she is the strongest woman. A woman like Gulaal design the husband and their future, not other way arround. Gulaal is a story of a real heroine, who dominates with her womanly beauty and love on earth. Gulaal is a simbol of beauty of woman power, driven by love and trust.
It west it is quite fine to have yonger husband. I myself will marry a yonger person soon.

@TM Nice post and well said 👏
I dont think marrying a younger man is an issue. I think it was the "Deeyarvattu" which went unacceptable in the entire show. Ofcourse an adult marrying a child, no matter who the adult is(male/female), it is wrong in every sense. But...
The real reason behind that DV, not much of the viewers tried to ponder it, why she did it and for what? the whole story since there till now explained her deed, a very detailed explanation, no one including Gulaal didnt ever considered it as a marriage at all (except Kesar. ). In a few other shows in the same SP we have seen marriages/in love where the guy is younger and it even went unnoticed.

The show Gulaal has voiced against the ill-treatment towards widow hood, pressurized rituals and child marriage and for the same reason DV had to break and it did and it has also dealt with child psychology to some extend.
Gulaal is a woman of hardly 30 and Kesar a man of 22, and with both having such a great history, it could have been a matter of surprise, if they would not have fallen for each other.
For me 'Gulaal' is a messenger of eternal love.

Totally with you. I know Gulaal kind of show may not cater to all kinds of audience but it is ok. Every one has different taste and they should actually try to cater to niche audience as well but you know we can't expect that from Indian Television yet.

I just know one thing that Gulaal is an amazing show, only once on TV lifetime so far and I will always cherish it forever. For the first time, I not only love the show, but I have respect for the show and for the makers of the show as they didn't care what ppl think and they stick to the original story and concept.

Many shows change their story line in between to cater to the large audience but I like if show is actually standing for its rights and story line.

Indian TV is yet not ready for the challenge.

reality is money rules the world. so trps. saas drama and romantic dramas are latest trends for high trps. gulaal doesn't fit in any of this two so no trps so loss to producer practically. ya atleast it is good they made an effort to make it n ending it on good note with minor flaws which can be overlooked.

I have only one word to say to the writer of the post and the makers and the supporters of this serial

BRAVO!!!

Bravo because the writer has brought out a valid point so well

Bravo because the makers of the serial had conviction in their story and were not swayed by the TRP race

Bravo because the supporters of this serial have the courage to support and openly agree
