Kesar's group dating with Gulaal and her friends.

Winning game

Kesar's surprised look "Is she capable of dissuading and discouraging her friend?" when Gulaal tells Bulbul, don't try, you will anyway lose.

The assurance through his eyes and words to balance herself until she won the game was very sweet. And the scene when she held Kesar's hand when they shared her small little victory in a game, it was a very spontaneous gesture from both of them but that moment it appeared as though with that one small gesture from her, with her one touch, he felt he owned the world, surprised at her touch, happy too , slight disappointment that it was short lived yet he cherished that one moment.

Kesar Gulaal and Friends

Kesar noticed Gulaal's irritation turning worse at the mention of 'Aapki patni" by her friend, but quickly smiles out of relief when she agrees to sing. When Gulaal has those flashbacks of Vasant, finally its Kesar's voice that brings her out of her past. The background score of Piu Maari with Kesar looking on at Gulaal in awe and so much love was lovely.

The forest scene was a scenic beauty. The greenery and the freshness of the leaves, the dark broen color of the wet trunk of the tress with the moss green algal growth on the trunk following the rains, Such beautiful cinematography with Kesar wearing blue in this greenish background, just superb.

On return, he saw Gulaal constantly chatting with her friends. He found happiness as he saw Gulaal happy and he glanced at her friends silently thanking them for their help to make it a reality for Gulaal. That was hilarious when Kesar and her two friends worriedly asked at the same time "KYA HUA?" when she yelled for him to stop to buy the sweetcorn. And when she did mention, watch his reaction suggesting " Did you scream for this, what to say for this?"

I loved the simple gesture of Kesar's reaction to the drizzling outside as well as while saying "Garam hai, Garam hai, with the rubbing of his hands in response to the hot roasted corn. Also the reaction when the friends told him that he fulfilled his wife's simple wish in a jiffy was mixed with happiness of someone acknowledging his love(in a way), worry over Gulaal's reaction and his own hurt when reminded of their troubled relationship(thanks to Gulaal again).

Jhoola/Swing Scene

Kesar's half-hearted denial to Dhani's request was sad because he would have loved to but fearing Gulaal's reaction he was hesitating. When she walked off in anger, he handled her well, asked her not to react, not to disappoint good friends and asked her to not to be a spoilsport. Kesar is getting all the more submissive and handling her anger so that she enjoys the day. Why can't she understand? Kesar seems to be so much in control of his emotions even when he mentions that everything is going to end in three months. And all that Kesar could do was smile, a smile mixed with sadness and relief seeing her making up with her friends. Well she has true friends in Bulbul and Dhani if not who will put up with her tantrum throwing mood.

Kesar and Sudha

What I love about this scene is that it was a single long shot from when Kesar entered the room till he says 'kya mei aapka pyaar hamesha ke liye kho chukka hoon" that lasted for a long two minutes.

Kesar walks in hesitantly, tries to participate by giving his opinion on a guy for Talli, pleads with Sudha that he misses his old Sudha Babhi, reminds her of old days with a smile too how he really cherished those times, reasons out with her saying he has freed Talli from lifelong pain, leaves dejected, but when he is called back only to be asked for help by Sudha for Talli, he is overwhelmed and smiles in assurance of his support to her and in the peace they just made out, heaves out a sigh of relief as goes away with happiness. It was important because unless Sudha patches up with Gulaal, it would be impossible for Gulaal to be free of guilt at one point of time.

I love Neha Kaul's expressions. Sudha deliberately avoided Kesar, gets emotional when reminded of old days, but is putting up a defense not to get drawn in to his talk and denies it saying she only remembers Talli's pain, but at one point when he walks away after saying he freed her from lifelong pain, we could see that she agreed to that and finally seeing him leave this dejected, decides to make peace with thepast. Loved this interaction between Sudha and Kesar.

Kesar smitten by Gulaal

Kesar looked blissfully at peace seeing Gulaal look so peaceful and serene and happy in their room. He did not want to disturb her and wanted to cherish that moment as if it would last a lifetime. Hardly did he get a chance for a full-fledged long moment of bliss since the friends tease him.Kesar looks all so conscious suddenly, he fumbles saying he came for saying something. But when they continue totease him, he tries to smile because first of all more than the embarrassment of getting caught looking at her in awe, he was more scared of what gulaal's reaction might be because he has tried hard to manage a whole day full of happiness in her life which was at risk now due the teasing. Gulaal became so conscious again, kept tapping her friend's hands as they were open about the LOVE. Kesar suddenly becomes nervous when Bulbul almost let out the secret about Kesar planning all this, and very cautiously gestured a "NO, Please don't" request.

When Bulbul again comments about Kesar's love indirectly when she says "Woh aapki tarah nahi hain na Kesar ji", Kesar's smile was forced because the underlying truth is that his love is not recognized at all, and he was again worried about his whole plan being dampened by that one comment because the minute his love was mentioned, gulaal would revert back to how she had been. With difficulty he brough out this side of Gulaal and he was genuinely concerned if all his effort would go waste. The pain in the truth was hidden behind that smile as he looked over at Gulaal for her reaction.

KESAR ON TALLI"S ALLIANCE

Kesar welcomes and acknowledges Kunal with a smile. He is puzzled when Kunal is not being given a chance by his parents to open his mouth to answer Motaba. Kesar is all smiles hearing Kunal has left it to his parents wish to select a girl for him. He is proud to hear from them that they approve of Talli because she is from this family.

I loved Giga Kaka when he could no longer hear a repetition and goes on to say that he understands their concern because"Aakhir ek hi beta hai aapka". Poor Giga Kaka. He is the most peace loving soul in the family. Imagine the woman could grate on his nerves with her talk.

Kesar approved of all the goodness in Talli. "Sabse acchi hai humari Talli". Talli gave him one glance that meant "If I am so good at everything, why can't you just love me?" But Kesar gives the most sincere smile because he is pure at heart when it comes to his love for his friend and just a friend, nothing more. Kesar while saying so can look staright into their eyes and make that statement because his feelings are not tainted. When Kunal puts forth his request to speak to Talli, Kesar is supportive of his forward thinking.

Why do I have a feeling that the terrace is no more the usual terrace that it used to be? It looks like it is shot indoor; otherwise we could usually get the vastness of the sky or the larger view of the Haveli in the terrace shots.

Kesar speaks up in Talli's defense. It was a right move because the tarnished image that they broached is because of him, hence he owned up for his mistakes in front of everyone. And after all she was his friend and she suffers due to his impulsive decision and immaturity to take the situation up to the wedding altar. He argued that people can talk behind one's back but here they can never point fingers at Talli. I wonder how sure he is about that. Because people belonging to that village had spoken ill of Gulaal (the twosome who got hit by Kesar), spoke ill of Gulaal and Dushyant, so when asked about Talli, all that they would have to say is that "Yes, she used to roam around with Kesar on his bike day and night" What will he have to say about that then?. It was a fact they used to be together and then people will ask them in front of them (not behind one's back). He should not make such statements for the people of Talsagra.

KESAR DEFENDS TALLI

Kesar's disapproval of the family is evident when they broach the topic of expensive wedding and dowry. I loved the respect Kesar shows for Motaba by seeking apology to speak among elders. When Kesar gestures to them as elders, we could see he meant "SO CALLED ELDERS" because respectable elders don't speak like how they did. He clearly states that their Talli should not be sent to this family and Sudha feels proud of him when he says that "yeh log humare Talli ke kaabil hi nahi hain". For once, Motaba supports his son. Since then Kesar was stern yet silent because he knew his father would not allow this.

When they continued insulting Motaba, Kesar's anger aggravated and he was on the verge of reacting fiercely when Gulaal caught his hand. That one gesture from her calmed him down instantly. Kunal approval of Talli put Kesar and Gulaal in a fix and they glanced at each other for support.

It was a touching scene where they showed Kesar all worried if his mistake would cost Talli's life and happiness and Gulaal reassuring that they could handle her together. Kesar left when her friends came over. The friends spoke so much; it was an eye opener for Gulaal. If not immediately, it would surely get her thinking and it has already started. The best of those dialogues was when Dhani said that she is forsaking something valuable because she does not value it since it was available easily.

When Kesar comes in to capture and freeze their moment of togetherness, gulaal is already into her denial and is unable to meet his eye. The best thing was that Kesar could quickly sense that something was amiss and her discomfort as he zoomed in the camera lens. Still he attempts to bring in Champa to get her to smile. He has struggled to bring her few moments of happiness and obviously when he sees that she does not even smile, it would hurt him a lot. Kesar understood the reason for her discomfort when he hears from Dhani that he should visitthem with his wife even if it is several months later hoping for reconciliation from both. It was lovely to see Kesar shift is glance to Gulaal to see her reaction

KESAR FOR PEACE

Kesar walks in with flowers and when confronted he shares it with all. I liked what he said that all colors are hidden in the shade of white. Was that for Gulaal that there are hidden shades of vibrancy underneath her pale exterior, paleness in terms of denying happiness and pleasures of life to oneself?

Probably Kesar genuinely brought the white flowers to cheer Gulaal but her hesitation to take it as if he has just given her a bunch of red roses saying "Be my valentine" is amusing. So what is wrong in picking some flowers from him, he has also distributed it to others. Poor guy has decided to give a share to Talli also now that he has given to JK and his Sudha Babhi too.

KESAR AND TALLI

The scene with Talli was surely exaggerated. It could have been done in a simple way too. Kesar is surprised at the happiness she is portraying.

Kesar : Yeh tu ne kya kiya?

Talli: Maine kya kiya? Maine to sirf Kunal se shaadi karne ke liye haan ki hai.

Now I would read her reply as " You said NO to our marriage and broke it too. I have only said Yes to this alliance. How grave is it than what you did?

Kesar is seriously worried about the family and Talli cuts it short saying 'Maine Sudha Ma se bhi bata diya ki saari zindagi mujhe Kunal ke saath hi bitani hai.

Now I was reminded of the scene where Kesar agrees to the marriage with Talli and when she asks he says "I don't live other's dreams, I have decided ki mujhe tujhse hi shaadi karni hai"

Kesar raises his concern over the family and that she won't be happy in that house but she shuts him up saying how can he be sure that happiness would come by only if the family is good. When she says that situations exist when family is good but the source of our happiness (the husband) does not love the person back (his wife). Kesar is totally at a loss of words at her wisdom and also the authenticity of that overwhelming truth.

Talli: Shayad you are reminded what I told you about getting a better guy than you for a husband? Are you jealous?

Kesar's reaction to this was that of wonder whether Talli seriously meant it and found Kunal good enough or whether she genuinely expected him to feel jealous in this situation, whether she was trying to make him feel so. He was confused what was running on her mind. His ability to think through is clouded by the guilt he harbors for having wronged her that she is taking this decision to grab the first guy that comes her way so that she could move out of his and Gulaal's wife because Kesar knows that Talli feels Gulaal would love him back within the three months given. It is seen in the way he tries to smile back when she says she would be happy with Kunal and also adds that her happiness is seen on her face. At this point I think Kesar knows why Talli is doing this so early before giving herself some more time and that is why he feels all the more burdened when she says she will surely be happy and hence finally gives his genuine feedback on Kunal as a person.

I appreciate that Talli asked if the flowers were for her rather than grabbing it. She has learnt the lesson in the hard way.

Kesar is puzzled when she stops and also when she stretches out her closed hands. He opens it to find the engagement ring. He is surprised that she can return it with a smile. He is again on a guilt trip when he is reminded of the engagement ceremony. Seeing him hurt, talli tries to tell him she has returned not for him to get so sad istead she does not want to get blamed later for running away with his gift. That relaxes him, he smiles and his tension is gone when he manages to say "Accha'.Toh yeh mahan iraada tha iske peeche" because he was genuinely worried.

When she brings back the issue asking him to return her ring, he is again confused as to why she is laying so much emphasis to this return ceremony. He was again reminded, he felt guilty all over again, when he was told the reason for the engagement ring on the ring finger, and he removes it contemplating on the "love factor" being associated with this. Sensing his unease, Talli points out that he gets disturbed over trivial matters. Here they make him feel guilty enormously and talli had given him a lecture a while ago saying she would never be able to forgive him for playing with her emotions and then she makes it a point to remind him at every given chance by behaving she is the sacrificial lamb and still trying to be a saint by sacrificing her love for his happiness and on the other hand the woman he loves cares less about his feelings and then Talli says he gets disturbed over small issues. After all he is human.

Kesar is seriously hurt when Talli says it was good that he removed the ring if not he would have fallen in love with her had he worn it a little longer. He is again confused at what she wants to convey because again he is wondering whether she still nurtures some hope over the possibility. I feel he was really not able to read her mind, more so with those heart-piercing split meaning dialogues coming from a smiling Talli about LOVE. Kesar is too nave for that.

When she calls him Dabloo, he stammers over the Kya,Kya kaha tu ne mujhe, out of that shock that the situation between them has reached such a level where she calls him Dabloo. It brings back that smile, he runs after her all the way until the kitchen (I strictly disapprove of this scene. This running around business had created enough havoc during KB days. I had unnecessarily convinced myself those days that such playfulness was not harmful).

KESAR AND GULAAL

Gulaal was startled out of her reverie when she heard Kesar and Talli but it never seemed to affect her at all. I am not expecting Gulaal's possessiveness here. Last time Kesar chased Talli on the terrace, he unknowingly went and hugged Gulaal. He is at ease when it comes to touch with regards to talli but Talli's feelings towards him are not platonic. I am wondering why she is not worried that Talli is still chasing Kesar, the guy with whom her wedding was called off and she is also a soon-to-be bride.

And Kesar just lets go everything else the minute he sees Gulaal overworking herself. He offers to help, obviously Gulaal denies and refuses to take his help. He squeezed the hand towels out of her hand forcibly and at one point she got too conscious of his hold that she let go off his hand. Loved how Kesar dismissed her refusal of his offer for help as "Har baat pe zidd". She taunts him saying she is used to doing things herself without support but he insists "Karti aayi hogi, but henceforth call me to help you with such tedious work(meaning which needs help and support). In every word and action, he is willing to be her support.

Kesar complains that Talli has become really naughty, did I see Gulaal's concealed smile over his comment. Cutely he tells Talli "Chhal jhooti". Again they brought in Talli's true love that she culd never swear on his Kesar's name for joke and it would be the truth if she did so. He senses that Gulaal is unusually quiet today when he says "Kyun Gulaal?" She brushes it aside and asks him to meet Motaba.

Precap

Waiting for the spectacular showdown.

Heya Ganga - thanks for all the posts back to back for the week. I don't think Kesar believes that Talli has entirely moved on after him, but I think he saw her sincerely trying to do so, until yesterday's scene on the terrace which just threw him majorly off guard (not to mention us, the audience) The scene wasn't just exaggerated but plainly misleading about Talli's intention. It was hard to tell if she wanted Kesar to feel guilty and/or jealous, or if she only wanted him to be assured that she was amicably moving on - because honestly, she accomplished neither feat. Kesar on his part looked guilty, rightfully, but his haste and almost nervous stance in the face of her 'fall in love with me' speculations was just, worrying! Almost like he'd had a sudden revelation about leading Talli on without intentions of doing so. Which was, again, a weirdly Talli induced realization for some bothersome reason!

It was my pleasure. I have tried to be most diplomatic in my interpretation of the Kesar Talli scene. It was plain unnecessary. It occupied an entire 10 mins of the show. It could have been done in a better way

You were missed Ganga 🤗 Great analysis as always.

What to say about the scene we were blessed with yesterday? Talli was able to spook one and all. This is why despite Gulaal's ostrich behaviour, she seems more human than this miss goody two shoes Talli. All of a sudden she becomes the sacrificial goat...FINE but she is always mouthing these filmy dialogues (DDLJ one and let your love go etc) behind that fake smile of hers. I just try to fathom what she's trying to do. If you want to move on then do it, stop playing the sympathy card.
