I think Kesar's heartbreak was affecting Gulaal in the precap. She was feeling it!

Hope so anyway!

But her curse suddenly made him apprehensive that they will come true and she will never be back..you see with Gulaal around he will not even heed to these things..but with her gone it is like his armour is broken and every attack is directly on his heart
