PaanBaa Failed Kesar!

Another excellent episode, however what resonated with me was the scene with Kesar and Paanbaa. Here was an excellent opportunity for Paanbaa to have a great heart-to-heart conversation with her son. She didn't like hearing that Gulaal had made some very important decisions and promises on behalf of her son and in fact had told Gulaal to stop worrying about her son. But when Kesar, who is so lost right now, came to her and said that I am asking you this not as a mother but as a woman. He asked some excellent questions. And she missed the chance to respond properly.

As a mother of two very young sons I salivate at the thought of them one day coming to me to ask for advice not as a mother but as a woman. Wow...what significant turning point in their relationship. The son says I am grownup and don't need you to mother me but I still value your opinion and that too as a woman.

We know Paanbaa has gone through the deyarvatu experience, she could have talked about how difficult it is for a woman to accept someone else in her life, or to let go of your first love. There were so many things she could have said but she said something about Tallie?!?!?!?!

For the very first time I felt that the writers failed us and missed an excellent opportunity to add some depth to the mother son relationship! There was absolutely no reason for them to bridge the two scene - Paanba/Kesar scene with the Tallie/Kesar scene. T & K could have accidentally run into each other!

Don't get me wrong the episode was wonderful . I loved it but I hold Gulaal to higher standards and that scene was a FAIL for me!!

Urgh I agree. Kesar was so mature about the whole thing, he asked such genuine questions. Why is falling in love with an older woman wrong? Why is falling in love with a widow wrong?

What does PaanBa come out with? Talli has been wronged! 😕 Well yes she has but Kesar was asking you something to help his state of mind. He wanted a woman's POV.

It was a shame with the way the scene turned.

Totally agree! It did seem so random. I was hoping she'd give him some insight into Gulaal's mindset, and like you said, she'd been through a similar experience so it was a great chance for her to do so. And Kesar had calmed down, so he was so open to anything she would have said. He would have really heard her. She could have atleast told him to give her time rather than just segue into the topic of talli. It felt like she'd been taking lessons from Gulaal. She didn't know what to say, so she changed the subject...to TALLI!

Thanks for naming it out - my opinion exactly. When PaanBa first walked into his room today, and offered him food, his taking hold of the tray was a fresh change for me as a viewer from the usual mijhe bhuk nahin hai one would expect.. It raised my hope immediately, if I already don't have high enough hopes on this show!

Then, putting it aside he faced her with a resolved look on his face, which was promising cue number two - and then he asked her, what really needed asking, and answering, and if anyone other than Gulaal herself can explain this side to Kesar, it is PaanBaa.

In that light precisely, and in response to some excellently raised questions by a young boy who is dilemma struck - PaanBaa the mother, and PaanBaa the woman both failed. I have no objection to her raising the matter of Talli - but there is always an occasion for right things, and very rarely do right opportunities present themself in right time. They did this time, with Kesar getting hold enough of himself to reason out and question a little more objectively than is expected of his situation. PaanBaa did not rise to the occasion - or more precisely, the CVs did not. If it is for a future motive, I shall wait. If it was only to carve a window of conversation between Talli and Kesar (which was no doubt needed eventually too) I say they should have worked out another way.

Anyway - great post again lovtv!

Thanks Reemz - couldn't remember the questions but those are excellent questions and Paanbaa was the right woman to ask.

It was a shame. They could have explained the circumstances behind paan and mota's marriage. She could have been so insightful and helpful to her son. and who cares about Tallie's feelings she is young she will get over herself. This is her son!!!

I know...I am very saddened that the writers missed this one. They usually don't.

that's exactly what i was thinking too.
this was an excellent chance to see a development in paan bha's character, and the mother-son relationship, which we havent yet see
..but the CVs missed the opportunity miserably!

this was the very few times the CVs of this show have disappointed us!

JZee you may call me Shelly.

Lol ... I thought the same thing when he took the plate of food...he is a young man he is hungry so he is going to eat or thought maybe Paanbaa would feed him. That is what Gulaal would have done.

Then he turns to her and asks those wonderful questions and she completely misses. She looks like a space cadet and today she behaved like a space cadet.

Come on woman!!! He is your son he deserves a proper answer.
