Chapter 36
Guddan is breathing heavily as AJ is continuously kissing her.
Guddan: ( barely managing to say) akshat darwaze pe koi hai. Aap rukiye main dekh k aati hoon.
AJ: nai, jo bhi hai wo chala jayega. Waise bhi is waqt kisi ko kya kaam hoga. (Burying his face in the crook of her neck).
Guddan: (ruffling his hair) main bas dekh k aati hoon. I will be back soon.
AJ: do people in this house realize you are my wife too not just their daughter in law or sister in law 😣😣😣
Guddan kisses his pout and gets up straightening her dress and wearing her gown above it. She opens the door and sees her MIL standing.
Guddan: maa is waqt sab theek haina?
Maa: haan haan sab theek hai. Kal itna sab hogaya aur main tujhe batana he bhool gayi ki aaj karwa chauth hai.
Guddan: Arre main b bilkul he bhool gayi thi.
Maa: Tu tayar hoja jaldi aur phir neeche aaja sargi k liye.
Guddan: han bas 5 minutes.
Guddan bolts the door and heads straight to the washroom.
AJ: batana to tha kaun tha
Guddan: (from washroom) maa ayi thi. Abhi nikal k sab batati hoon.
After some time guddan comes out of the washroom wearing a bathrobe ending just above her knees.
AJ: is waqt achanak se why you had a bath. Maa ne kya kaha.
Guddan: (near the mirror drying her hair) aaj karwa chauth hai.
AJ comes and stands behind her placing his chin on her shoulder and wrapping his arms around her waist while she is drying her hair.
AJ: don't you think this dress is too hot for sargi 😉😉😉( sliding the bathrobe down a bit from her shoulders and kisses her)
Guddan: akshat aap chahte hain main late hojawun sargi k liye.
AJ: nope
Guddan: to phir zara mere cupboard main se koi suit nikal k dijiye
AJ: why don't you wear birthday wali saree. I didn't you see you properly in that.
Guddan: wo shaam ko.
AJ: ok take this.
She goes to the washroom and changes and goes downstairs while AJ lies down on the bed.
While guddan is having her sargi bua ji notices a red mark on her neck and is very angry.
Maa: guddan ache se kha le. Pichli baar pata haina kya hua tha. Lalla bahut late aaya tha.
Bua: bhabhi ab is main kya hai lalla ko to bahut kaam hota haina. Ab ek ghanta zyada wait krne se konsa aapki bahu kamzor pad jaayegi. Aap mere lalla ko kuch mat bolo.
AJ: ( from stairs) is baar aur aaj k baad kisi b karwa chauth main aisa nahi hoga maa aur buaji baat kamzor padne ki nahi hai baat hai agar wo mere liye kuch kar rahi hai to main uske liye itna to kar he sakta hoon.
Bua leaves from their while AJ smiles at guddan.
Maa: lalla acha hua tu aagaya. Zara tu he isko khila. Ye to kuch khaa he nahi rahi hai.
AJ: maa aap jaake so jao. Main khila dunga isko.
AJ makes her sit on the chair while he sits by her side and wipes her tears.
Guddan: thank you.
AJ: tum kyun thank you bol rahi ho. I am sorry. I ruined so many of our memories in the past year. (While making her eat).
Guddan: don't feel sorry. We have already decided we will start a fresh, so now no talks about the past (kissing him on cheek).
AJ: ab khao jaldi jaldi and he makes her finish everything.
On the other hand bua ji calls someone.
Bua: mujhe lagta hai ab tumhare aane ka waqt hogaya hai warna agar aur late hogaya to ye guddan mere lalla ko apne jaal main phasa legi.
Caller: aisa kya hogaya ek he din main.
Bua: she tells the caller what she saw.
Caller: (angered) aisa nahi ho sakta.
Bua: bas ab tum aajao.
Caller: right away.
In the morning AJ is getting ready and guddan is sitting on the bed admiring him.
Guddan: aapne vest nai pehna?
AJ: nai it would directly cover my wound and it would hurt a lot.
Guddan: keh to rahi hoon aaj office nai jao aap. Once you feel better then you can go.
AJ: nai i am better. Kal b nahi gaya tha so today I have to.
AJ goes and sits near her on the bed with the tie.
Guddan: Arre aap yahan kyun aaye, main to uth he rahi thi.
AJ: madam aap rest kijiye ( kissing her forehead).
Guddan: thankyou (while raising his collar)
AJ: kis liye
Guddan: yakeen he nahi horaha ki aap in kuch mahino main kitna badal gaye hain (making him wear the tie).
AJ: Mrs. Jindal make a habit now of this new Akshat Jindal (pulling her cheek)
Guddan hugs him tight and he too reciprocates and just then bua ji enters without knocking. They separate instantly.
Bua: lalla darwaza to band kar liya kar.
AJ: bua ji kuch kaam tha mujhse
Bua: haan ye dawai le aana. Khatam hogayi hai.
AJ: theek hai. Guddan main chalta hoon bye.
Guddan: bua ji aaye, baithiye.
Bua: dekho guddan main sirf lalla k saamne tumse baat karti hoon. Is liye mujhse baat karne ki zaroorat nai hai. Kitna khush tha mera lalla jab uske saath tha. Pata nahi kaise reh raha hai wo tumhare saath. Wo to kitna pyar karta tha us se.
Guddan: aap kiski baat kar rahi hain bua ji.
Bua: wahi jo ladki maine apne lalla k liye pasand ki thi. Tumse shaadi kar k kitna pareshaan rehta hai mera lalla. Khair tumhe kya farak padta hai is sab se, tumhe to lalla k paise se matlab hai.
Guddan: bua ji ye kaisi baatein kar rahi hain aap. Aisa kuch....
Bua: bas ✋
Guddan thinks was bua ji telling the truth and just then her MIL comes and tells her not to pay heed to her words as it's not the truth, since she can herself see the change in AJ.
Flashback Starts
Maa: lalla aaj office se jaldi aajana
AJ: kyun maa aaj kya hai aur waise b aaj meri important meeting hai mujhe late hojayega.
Maa: aaj karwa chauth hai aur bahu ka shaadi k baad pehla karwa chauth hai.
AJ: maa aap jaanti hai main is sab bakwaas main believe nai karta aur waise bhi mujhe kaam hai aaj, i cant come early.
Maa: lekin lalla.
AJ: maa agar aap itna insist kar rahi hain to main aajawunga lekin late because I cant leave my meeting for this stuff. If she can wait let her.
Flashback Ends
Maa: kahan kho gayi. Thoda sa aaram kar le. Phir shaam ki b tayari karni hai.
Guddan: theek hai maa. Main abhi thodi daer se neeche aati hoon.
Meanwhile in office,
Assistant: sir i had to tell you something
AJ: yes what is it?
Assistant: sir actually, sir basically...😥😥
AJ: what actually is there any problem?
Assistant: sir i needed a half day leave
AJ: why😲😲
Assistant: sir its karwa chauth today.
AJ: that's in the evening. Why do you want a half day?
Assistant: last year I reached late by 15 minutes and my wife was totally pissed with me.
AJ: just 15 minutes.
Assistant: sir you are saying just, she took 15 days to get back to normal with me 😥😥😥
AJ: ok you may go.
Assistant: thank you so much sir.
AJ thinks about the last year karwa chauth.
Flashback Starts
AJ returns home at 12 in the midnight and heads straight to his room. He does not spot guddan who is sleeping on the dinning table. He changes and comes to sleep but sees guddan missing. He thinks she might have slept with aarti and sleeps.
Maa: (caressing her hair) ek baj rahe hain aur guddan abhi tak yahin hai.
Guddan: (wakes up with a jerk) akshat aap aagaye.
Maa: main hoon. Lalla nai aaya abi tak. Tune phone kiya tha.
Guddan: nai maa maine nai kiya tha. Mujhe laga meeting main busy honge.
Maa: (sitting down) ruk zara main karti hoon. Aisi kaunsi meeting jo raat k ek baje tak chal rahi hai.
Guddan: ye to yahi baj raha hai phone 😧😧
Maa: lalla phone bhool gaya hai
Guddan: nahi.
Maa: zara aaja dekhte hain ye kahan baj raha hai.
They reach the room and are shocked to see him sleeping. Guddan has tears in her eyes but she controls herself for her MIL. She goes and silences the phone so that he doesn't wake up.
Maa: ye kab aaya hai (going to wake him up)
Guddan: maa rehne dijiye na. Ye bahut thak gaye honge. Let him sleep.
Maa: aur tere vrat ka kya. Ise kya ehsaas nahi hai tune subah se kuch bhi nahi khaya wo bhi sirf is k liye.
Guddan: maa akshat ne to pehle he kaha tha wo late ho jayenge. Vrat main subah kholungi. Is main kya hai. Chaliye aap so jaye late kaafi hogaya hai ab.
Next morning AJ comes down to have breakfast. RK served him the breakfast.
AJ: sab log kahan hai RK. Koi utha nhi hai.
RK: sir guddan bhabhi andar kitchen main hai aur baaki sab so rahe hain kyunki kal karwa chauth ki wajah se sab late soye thay.
AJ: theek hai.
He bites his tongue thinking he forgot about it but then tells himself she would have eaten, who will stay hungry this long?
Maa: kha kha tu aaram se kha. Apne siva tujhe to koi dikhta nahi hai
AJ: kya hua maa, aise kyun bol rahe ho.
Maa: tujhe kaha tha na kal karwa chauth hai, phir bhi tu nahi aaya
AJ: maa main late aaya tha aur guddan room main nahi thi, mujhe laga so gayi hai aarti k paas.
Maa: so to wo gayi thi lekin aarti k paas nahi yahan is table pe tera wait karte karte.
AJ: maa mujhe kaise pata chalti. Wo aayi kyun nahi mere paas aur agar main so gaya tha mujhe utha to sakti thi na.
Maa: main aayi thi tujhe uthane lekin teri biwi ko tere aur tere parivaar k ilawa kuch dikhta nahi haina. Is liye usne mujhe tujhe uthane nahi diya aur so gayi bina kuch khaye. Guddan kahan hai.
AJ: Maine subah se nahi dekha RK bol raha tha kitchen main hai.
Maa: guddan, guddan bahar aa zara. Vrat khol apna bimar ho jayegi.
AJ: usne kal se kuch nahi khaya hai. Maa maine aapse pehle he kaha tha main is sab main believe nahi karta phir kyun guddan ne abhi tak vrat rakha hai.
Guddan: maa aapne bulaya.
Maa: aarti ki thaal la aur vrat kholega ye tera.
He makes her drink water and leaves from their without having breakfast.
Flashback Ends.
AJ: guddan ab aaj k baad aisa kabhi nahi hoga. I am sorry for ruining your first karwa chauth but i promise it wont happen ever again.
He then calls his assistant and asks if any work is pending as he is leaving. He then leaves for home.
Maa: guddan hogayi saari tayari?
Guddan: haan maa pooja ka saara saman rakh diya hai aur kitchen main B sab ho gaya hai.
Nimi: didi aapko sab akele karna pada sorry.
Guddan: pagal hai tu.
Maa: jaa guddan Tu b tayar hoja. Chand nikalne ka waqt hogaya hai.
Guddan: haan maa.
She is getting ready in her room while AJ reaches home.
Bua: bhabhi aapne guddan se kyun kaha tayar hone k liye. Lalla to late aayega. Uske tayar hone ka kya fayda?
Nimi: bhaiya aap, wo bhi itna jaldi?
Maa: lalla teri tabyat to theek hai? Office main sab theek hai?
AJ: haan maa sab theek hai. Nimi ab karwa chauth hai jaldi to aana he tha.
Maa: ja lalla jaake tayar hoja. Guddan bahut khush hogi tujhe dekh k.
AJ goes to his room and bua ji also leaves angrily. In her room guddan is pinning up her pallu when AJ suddenly goes and hugs hugs her from behind due to which pallu falls from her hand on the floor.
Guddan: akshat kya karte hain aap. Darr gayi main.
AJ: sorry (while kissing her shoulder).
Guddan: aap itni jaldi. How come?
AJ: I told you in the morning only. From now on I won't ruin any of our memories (while drawing patterns on her stomach).
Guddan: (throwing her head back on his shoulder) akshat darwaza khula hai koi aajayega.
AJ: everyone knocks before entering. People in this house have some manners and starts kissing her collarbone.
Guddan: Late hojayega
AJ: (turns her around and wraps his hands around her waist) I want to tell you sorry for one last time. I have myself ruined so much in our lives. I am.....
Guddan wraps her hands around his neck and kisses him deeply. He too reciprocates while drawing patterns on her waist. They part due to lack of oxygen and rest their foreheads against each other.
Guddan: kitna bolte hain aap
AJ: if this is the way you are going to make me quite then I am ready to talk for a lifetime.
Guddan: ok now let me get ready. I will be late.
AJ: ok let me help you (pulling her cheeks).
He lifts the pallu from floor and and pins it on her shoulder and kisses her again.
AJ: you go downstairs I will change. Keep my clothes on the bed.
Guddan: ok
She takes out a box from her cupboard and places it on the bed and goes downstairs. AJ comes out of the washroom and spots the box. He opens it and finds a purple colored kurta. He gets ready and goes downstairs.
Angad: not bad bhaiya. Nice colour. Kab liya aapne, pehle to nahi dekha hai.
AJ: Maine b aaj he dekha hai.
Aarti: achaaa matlab bhabhi ne laya hoga. Gift and all 😉😉😉
AJ: you are becoming very naughty day by day.
Maa: lalla chal chand nikal gaya.
They all head to the terrace. Guddan is waiting for him with pallu on her head. He stands in front of her and they do all the rituals while bua is fuming with anger. She clicks a picture of them and forwards it to someone with the caption:
"The late you are the more your loss"
Guddan: thank you and hugs him.
Angad: ahmmm ahmmm
Maa: chalo dinner karte hain sab.
As they are moving towards dining table, he holds her hand and takes her to a corner.
Guddan: kya kar rahe hain aap.
AJ: pehle ye bola you got this for me.
Guddan: yes, who else will?
AJ: when? You were home throughout the day.
Guddan: I had got this for last year karwa chauth.
AJ: ohhh😔😔
Guddan: don't be sad now. Let's go inside. Everyone is waiting.
