But didn't the "detective/cop" seem a bit suspicious? I understand it's supposed to be hush hush but why would they need to kidnap Guddan like that or meet in that dark gloomy place? They could have approached her normally too.

The whole thing seems fishy. Maybe he isn't even telling the truth or at least not the whole truth!
