Loved it loved it Nish. Poor Uncle yaar felt bad for him Gudiyas last words, of the fear of dieing and wanting to live and everything and then sudden silence not a word even after continuous asking, requesting, demanding, pleading of AJ to just speak say something was just wow. Having a chirpy chatterbox Guddan going all silent the shock of it boyyy. Then in the end AJ collapsing not being able to take the pain right beside his Gudiya shows the soul connection they share and how they won't survive without eachother. They may have lived and gone through life had it been before but that was when they did not met eachother and after meeting eachother things hadn't been same neither had been they themselves.

Part 36 - Khamoshiyan

Akshat continued to stare at once lively Guddan, lying absolutely still on the bed. One month has passed since the day she went into a state of stasis.

That moment when he had realized that she had went into coma, he had lost all senses and reason. Such a shock the realization was that his blood pressure had dropped abnormally and for two days straight, he was out cold. And the third day when he had woken up, he refused to believe the truth. It was out and out denial on his part. Like a madman, he had shaken her, tried to rile her up but she remained as stoic as a statue. It was at the dawn when dadi's slap force pulled him out of his denial, into the unfortunate present. He had realized that Guddan was indeed in coma.

It had been hellish, the first few days of coming home to an empty room with no one to tease and no one to fight with. He felt like he will go insane with the very silence that he was once habitual to and thus Guddan was shifted back home and their bedroom had been transformed into a makeshift hospital room to ensure that every equipment required to keep her body working, was there.

Nonetheless, seeing her like that was worse than any pain he had ever gone through. He felt absolutely helpless because he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Their was hope that a day will come when she will snap out of her coma afterall her heart was still beating but then how far that day was?! He had no clue. Or if that day was ever going to come on his watch...

He wanted to be with her every second of the watch yet he couldn't bear to be near her. Seeing her like that bought him pain. And when he would be in restaurant, all he'd do is watch her through CCTV. Lakshmi accompanied Guddan till the time he would be back home. And the instant he was home, he'd take his seat by her side and continue to watch her, in the hope that she will wake up.

"Lalla?

Akshat turned his head slightly on feeling an affectionate pat on his head. His mother stood with a plate of food in her hands.

"You haven't eaten since morning! You should eat, she chided him trying a force feed a morsel to him.

Akshat raised his palm upfront and nodded his head in negative, "Nhi maa, I don't have an appetite...

"Tu roz yah...

"Aren't you slacking too much now?

Dadi stopped as she saw her son passing a look of disbelief to her bahu, as if she was listening.

"Ye sab tumhe karna chahie aur maa ko karna pad raha hai. Grow up and take your responsibilities, Akshat chided Guddan.

Dadi had raised her hand to stop him but as she saw his shoulders shivering, she knew that she should leave otherwise her son won't be able to shed his share of tears. Pretending to be strong had always been his favourite after all.

Over the past one month, she had seen her son crumble apart like a house of cards. Not only had he lost hope, he was also loosing his will to live. Day by day his appetite had reduced to nothing but a few morsels here and there that she would force feed him. He wasn't sleeping properly at all, there were big eyebags under his once charismatic eyes. He had lost weight too; she could easily make out his once perfectly fitted clothes now hanging loose on his frame.

Dadi turned around to sneak a glance at her son who had hid his face in his palms. She looked at his slumped shoulders and a tear escaped her eyes at his predicament. His slumped shoulders were a sign of defeat that he had started to accept over the past few days. Twice this week, he had fainted from hypoglycaemia.

If Guddan didn't wake up, she was not only going to loose her daughter, but her son too.

Akshat felt a block form in his throat and gulped it down. Not again! Not again!!

Those nasty miserable thoughts that Guddan will never wake up always attacked in the dark of night. The thought of never being able to talk to her, hear her again made his heart ache as if thousand needles were being pierced through it.

He had done everything possible! He conversed with her, fought with her but nothing worked. She was just too hell bent on keeping quiet this time around and this stubbornness of hers was hurting him.

He looked around the room that he had decorated to suit her quirky tastes. It all seemed pointless. Grey suited the room best, colours after all never stayed much longer in his life.

Akshat started sobbing as he slid against the bed, onto the floor. He could not keep strong any longer. Tear after tear trickled down his dull eyes. The more he tried to stop them, the more they came out.

Somehow he forced himself to stand up and dragged himself towards the pool area. He did not want her to see him so weak and fragile. Every step taken felt so heavy.

Abhi abhi bhule bhi na thhe tumhe

Khayal banke firr tum aa gaye...ee

Aapko kisne kaha tha beech raste mein mogambo ki tarah khade hone ke liye'

He chuckled as he reminisced her pouting and glaring daggers at him as she collided into him due to her own carelessness!

Ehsaas jo thhe dil mein kayi ankahe..

Labzon pe vo fir yu aa gaye...

Every step was reminding him of the times spent with her, through thick and thin, she was there with him. He could hear her shouting as he unleashed a barrage of pillow attacks on her. He recalled the first night when he had shared Antra's memories with her and she had dared to fall asleep halfway!! The tears her expressive eyes were laden with as his allergy to spices had reacted up and he was coughing violently...

Saanson ki...sar zameen par...barsaat..aa gaye

Ek jhapki main tere saath...khaab aa gaye...

As a drop fell on his face, Akshat looked towards the sky and recalled how incessantly she had cried on their six month anniversary. How they had hugged...and kissed. Every moment spent in her embrace gave him nothing but unfathomable peace. Where was he going to find his peace now?!

Bepannah...bepannah...pyaar hai tumse~

"I am attracted to you

"Can you kiss me?

Akshat stumbled over a chair and dropped to his knees, scraping them lightly in the process. Those innocent words of hers were his salvation. Her naivity was his nirvana. Even to sleep, he needs to hear her snoring and be used as her teddy bear! How many sleepless nights will he survive?

Maanti hu...khuda tujhi ko...tu hi tu rehbar mera..

Ab se khali pan mein bhi tu saath mere khadaa...

Akshat turned around sharply as slender fingers caressed him.

"Guddan! He exclaimed as he caught her hands and started to caress her face feverishly. "T-Tum theek h-ho gayi...

She smiled in response and leaned into his touch. "Aap himmat nhi haar sakte. Maine kaha tha na ki peeche mat hatiye

Akshat nodded like a kid as he pressed a kiss to her hands. "Ab tum aa gayi ho na toh...

As he looked up, she was gone. Nothing but a figment of his imagination she was.

Saanson ki sarzami par..barsaat aa gaye..

Ek jhapki main tere saath...khaab aa gaye...

"Thak gaye honge na, Jindal saab! Yahan aaiye...

Akshat looked towards the pool as Guddan sat by the side while flapping her legs in the pool. Obliging, he joined her and laid his head on her lap and sighed in content as she caressed his hairs.

"Shall I sing you a lullaby? She asked mischieviously.

"Your snoring will sound better than that! You are a terrible singer, Akshat retorted as she pouted and he smiled.

Soon his eyes dropped shut and he found himself sleeping in absolute peace.

"Durga Ji, aap ye kya kar rahi hain??!

Durga looked on shocked as Guddan stepped past her and closed the window which was bringing in cold air post the slight drizzle.

"Agar aapko thand lag gyi toh! Agar baby ko thand lag gayi toh!? Guddan exclaimed even more horrified as she dumped a blanket on Durga.

Durga could only look in shock as she let out her name,Gu-uddan!

The one she wanted to apologise for all the crimes of past. The one she wanted to make amends with.

"Durga di!

As Lakshmi snapped her fingers in front of Durga, she snapped out of her trance and looked at Lakshmi's face baffled. She looked over her shoulders to spot a shawl and the window was closed too.

"You will catch a cold! Lakshmi chided Durga as she proceeded to take Durga to bed and tucked her in.

"I already am cold, Lakshmi.. Durga trailed, regret building up.

What was she doing hallucinating those incidences for she had never cared enough when that person was right by her side?!

Taking in a shaky breath, Lakshmi sat by Durga's side. "Nhi di, agar aapko mere rehte kuch hua na toh saasu maa uthne ke baad mujhpar bahot gussa karengi!

Durga looked at Lakshmi as she twiddled her thumbs uncomfortably. She was recalling every day she was accompanying Guddan, how dead that entire room felt, how suffocating it felt, she realized why AJ couldn't stay in the room for too long.

"Lakshmi?

"Vo room kaatne ko daudta hai, di! Lakshmi hiccupped, "The bed where Guddan lies lifeless was once used by us for playing baby boo's video game. The room that once echoed with her witty jokes is now haunted by nothing but the eerie sound of those machines. I feel so stuffy everytime I see Guddan l.i..ike...

Lakshmi sobbed as Durga pulled her in for a hug.

"Don't lose hope Lakshmi. Guddan never concedes defeat!
