Complaint against Star One, over TGILC, Dismissed |
Wednesday - Jun 28, 2006 |
The complaint filed by one Jitendra Solanki in the metropolitan magistrate's court against Star One TV channel, and the popular laughter show, the 'Great Indian Laughter Challenge Dwitya' for hurting the sentiments of a particular caste, was dismissed by the court. The order against a petition by Solanki of Gomtipur, complaining against the show director Pankaj, the jury Shekhar Suman, Navjot Singh Sidhu, film star Sunil Shetty and Pakistani contestants Ali Hasan and Irfan Malik filed on Monday was reserved for Tuesday. On Tuesday, the court stated that since the complaint did not come from the same community the matter could not be entertained. Solanki's advocate Piyush Jadugar stated that in an episode aired on June 16, the contestants had commented against the Scheduled Caste (SC) community members. Jadugar had argued that Solanki hailed from the Vankar community which was in the SC category and hence the complaint should be entertained, but the court did not agree. |
