Sai is a black and white person, who is righteous and single minded. She is actually a very simple, brave person who speaks what is right and is honest. I love Sai's character because I find her very refreshing. Sai doesn't need anybody and she is extremely independent and strong. What Sai wants is a wholesome, liberal and honest family which she tried to create in CN and with Virat.
Virat is a grey-shaded person. He is much more complex person who delves in complicated relationships. I like his character. The problem is the hypocrisy and dishonesty. Virat never admits his own shortcomings. He doesn't introspect or understand what his actions lead to or how they affect others. He also doesn't know how to balance between duty and love or any relations. Part of it is upbringing. I remember how Ashwini never discussed the Pakhi situation with him at first whereas I always thought that she would confront him for it, no matter his marriage to Sai. Maybe he thought he was always perfect because he was the golden boy of his family.
Virat is a good man but he not worth a thousand Sai's. He has an immense savior complex that makes him heroic but he cannot be a good partner or family man with anyone let alone Sai. He pretends to be selfless but his adherence to duty stems from his need to be a savior, his need to save everyone and be the perfect Chavan. Sai deserves much, much better. I really wished we had a side hero for her even if to boost her ego and show her worth. The sad thing is, nobody realizes Sai's value.
