Did not have the patience to watch the cringe so read the written update. A question that came to my mind: Who has the rights on a newborn child? Is it the Mother or the Father? Do both of them have EQUAL rights? In that case, if one opposes the decision of the other, who should have the last say? What would the Legal Courts say?

And where does the Family fit into all this? I am asking this "Family" question to you all to get your opinions. But, my personal opinion about where Family fits into decisions about a child is NOWHERE. The Family has limited rights on a child and in no sane situation can be allowed to make a decision as who should get to raise the child.

On top of that, isn't trying to commit suicide a crime in itself?

In any sane and civilized society, crap like this would have been banned. But, here rules are different for everyone. Jiske paas paisa, chaabi uske haath mein.

Are! If you don't want to discontinue this crapfest, atleast remove it from PrimeTime. What sort of message are you sending to the society!! DISGUSTING!

I'd say parents should have equal right ideally but in the issue of disagreement one will have to factor in what the issue is, what the childs age is etc etc.

I think in general globally the precedent has been that a mother is given a tad bit extra right over the child. In most custody issues after divorce, child stays with mother predominantly even in situations where parents share custody.

And i think thats not just because woman was "pregnant" with the child but also because women are seen as more "parental" than men somehow.... I dont know if thats just because of the ingrained misogyny that woman will sacrifice her careee for child and give her full attention to baby etc etc.

And if the child is old enough like 6,-7 years, often its best if an objective person can simplify the matter and present it for the child to decide. Children have a choice even if they are underage. They have feelings and they have rights. If lets say a separated couple have an argument about custody of a grown child, child can be asked what he/she prefers and if child wants to live with both then they share equal custody. And if chikd picks one parent then the other has to accept it happily/not.

If the disagreement is about which school to go to - child can decide.

Family can only advice but cannot have any say in the decisions pertaining a child.

Increasing the number of stakeholders only causes problems.

We look up to people in the family to be more objective, to offer well meaning advice. But in ghkkpm nothing holds. Its not just fictional but toxic. utterly pathetic.

Mother has major right. To keep child away from mother they need strong reason like her being criminal or abuser or mentally unstable or financially not capable (this can be addressed with alimony from father)

In Ghum world, this is the hierarchy-

The one and only who has primary rights is the child’s father’s brother’s wife.

Then comes child’s father’s father’s brother’s wife.

And of course, the child’s mother has absolutely no rights.

Child’s father ke baare mein poocho mat- baat karna hi bekar hain

Equal rights but if at this stage parents separate, the mother gets the custody of the child
