Catharsis
“Har kaali se kaali raat ke baad bhi savera zaroor hota hai”,
“Aur yeh savera jis ummeed ki kiran ke saath hoga wo tu hai Jeeva”
These words held a meaning, and was associated with Samrat losing his life. But I wanted to decode this further. He is not “savera” but he is the “ummeed”.
Let’s go back to when Sai first met Samrat, she wore “Yellow” and today again she wore “Yellow”. Yellow as a color is associated with “Sun”…. “Savera”. Sai is the sun, who was in both instances in the shadows of darkness. First instance the darkness was Patralekha, and in the second instance it was Jagtap.
While we may say that Sai brought Samrat back to CN and credit her for that happiness. But what it also meant was Samrat was that “Kiran” – “Hope” that removed the cast of darkness and paved way for Sairat union for the “Sun” to rise and shine. He held the darkness (Patralekha) in whatever manner we see it.
Today, the Sai (Sun) was in Jagtap’s (darkness) captivity. Samrat saves her. Hope (Kiran) saves her and her unborn (a naya savera). This will also mark the end of Jagtap and his atrocities (temporarily or permanently), removing the cast of darkness.
Now note the color Samrat came in “Black” and he left in “white”. He was himself in the shadows of darkness, and the proximity to the sun illuminated him and he cleared the darkness within and around him and shined in the light of purity.
When he left CN after his marriage to Patralekha he was upset & hurt and felt betrayed. But even in the betrayal, he sacrificed his love for his brother’s happiness. Selfishly Selfless.
Today he sacrificed his life to protect his sister and her child (not bound by blood, but by pure love). Selflessly Selfish!
See the twist in tale. Love refined to its purest form!
How Samrat has evolved. He left CN. He was hurt, but in his pain, he forgot his mother who was dependent on him. Today she was his top most priority. He asks Virat to look after her, as she will be left alone. Replace the son that will be lost with him.
An important revelation. Samrat had shifted to CN for Virat. Virat was a lost child. He saw the broken married life of his parents but was living with it unable to express. Samrat was his confidante, his anchor. Shiva and Jeeva. Shiva is nothing and everything. Jeeva means chord and this chord connects nothing to everything. He has held him all his life. Now as he departs, he is scared for him and the people who depend on him. Hence, the seeks the promise from Sai. “Shiva ko sambhalna”. He knows Virat well. He can easily be lost. The pressure, the guilt will play heavy on him. Virat is highly sensitive and emotional. And Samrat fears his loss will make him go awry. The fact that he was not there to same him on time. It could/should have been him in his place. Only if he had gone to pick up Sai, if he had answered her calls, if, if if……. Samrat knows, only Sai can hold him together.
Episode review
The episode was heartbreaking. I think everyone was brilliant. The scene that first touched me was Sai’s scream, when she turns back to see an injured Samrat after being hit, toppled over and hit by the rock. That cry was heart wrenching. The fear of losing your own, even when your own life is at peril.
Sai’s hope in Samrat never diminished. Her threat to Jagtap even when Samrat lay injured was he would not spare Jagtap. Mere words don’t instill that confidence, it can only be accredited to the strong bond built on faith & trust. He was technically not her family, bound to him in a relationship via her husband – Virat. But strong relationship she built with him was not the one that was through Virat, but the one they built independently as a brother and sister. He was not dada (BIL) but dada (brother). They learnt to read each other through their pain, their problems/situations that were common. Hence their fear for each other’s life and safety is manifold.
Jagtap was devil personified. Brutally savage and barbaric. Inhumane. Sai is an obsession, that he wants to possess. He is cruel to the extent of planning to kill her unborn child. He tortures her, even after knowing about her sensitive state. He is not even concerned about her safety. Purely possession. He can risk her life to have her. Alive or dead…doesn’t matter. Sai has the presence of mind to message Virat. Even though he has not answered her calls, she was hoping he would read her message.
Virat sees the message. That is one place I felt Virat lacked the intensity of the fear that probably Sai is in a problem. It just seemed a flat statement.
Virat would have tracked her with her phone. It was only about how he is informed. The tussle that ensues would have rounded up Jagtap half dead. But Sai intervenes for the sake of Samrat’s life. Jagtap will flee or will the cops manage to catch him? Or will Virat himself set out for revenge? Will have to wait for that part. For now, he was shot in his leg.
The most emotional part was the from where they see Samrat lying unconscious. The entire scene till the end was emotional. Samrat was guilty even in his injured state for not being able to save Sai. And his own life at risk didn’t matter, and he was relieved that Sai was safe even if it was at the cost of life. He knows his death is nearing and hence he talks about his memories flashing in front of him. The entire conversation between the three of them was very emotional and moving. They nailed it.
The scene at CN. Patralekha was finally willing to take a step ahead in her married life. She was accepting Samrat, her marriage finally. Everyone is suddenly concentrating on Samrakhi. Mansi says that she finally glad that they are coming closer. So, were they aware about their dynamics? Let’s just keep this parked for the future track.
Heart Breaking moments
When he asks Sai to promise him, that she will let her children know about him. He the one who saved the one or one of them will not be there to welcome him/her. They will know him but will never KNOW him.
“Pakhi mera intezaar kar rahi hogi”. He loved her. Loved her with all his heart. He forgave her for all the hurt and sufferings she caused him. And finally, when his love was about to get reciprocated, he has to leave the world without experiencing that love. The longing continues even in culmination.
The whole track was rushed up. Looks like Samrat was not supposed to die. Not so soon at least. It was due to the actor’s request to exit. If it wasn’t, then why couldn’t they replace the actor. They have done the same with Mohit and Shivani. Why not now?
I had written about this in Sadhika/Moor’s post. Patralekha’s redemption is Samrat’s love. Because she lost herself in love and only love could redeem her. But she lost that opportunity at love. Why I say that as an opportunity? Because she is yet to experience love. If she knew love and had experienced it, she would have already redeemed herself. Well, she was on the path just by the prospects of it. She would have eventually, if she had the time. She is not that strong or mature to just live in that prospect. Hence, she will turn evil.
She has been denied her happiness twice. It was fate. But she being immature will connect it to a person. And that person is Sai. Because she needs someone to blame, she needs to vent out her frustration on someone. She will never see the practicality.
Her grudge with Sai being ancient will only increase the vile quotient of the vengeance.
Jealousy. For someone who has something that the other strongly desires. Here for Patralekha it is Love, Power, child, family, happiness. Sai has all of it, and with Samrat she lost her chance at everything.
Patralekha’s feelings for Samrat is one born out of compromise and is calculated. Hence, it is not love. It is an arrangement that one has with oneself to keep themselves afloat. A means to get something/s that one desires. Samrat was only a medium at this stage that gave her a whiff of love. It could have blossomed into love…but that we will never know.
Only if she had moved on and acknowledged Samrat’s love before Sairat confession would it have been more natural than forced. Because, Samrat never her choice. He was her only option.
We don’t know if there is another “Vaada” in play that is coming up in the next episode. From Sai or Virat. But it looks like either it will be fake pregnancy or fake depression, or both. Sai will be considerate. And Virat will be over accommodating. Samrat’s words playing in their mind “Pakhi mera intezaar kar rahi hogi”. Misinterpretation on the status of their conjugal journey. Virat may start to ignore Sai in her pregnant state while diverting all his attention towards Patralekha. And Sai will take it, even if she is hurt. But she will soon realise Patralekha’s true game. Then it will be all about Sai and Virat’s equation. Jagtap is another story. If and when he will be caught.
Precap – Adios Samrat Salunkhe!
PS - Can Jagtap do one good deed? Take Samrat's body away after the doctor declares him dead. Will give a hope that he is alive and may return. Sorry... Just trying to come to terms with it 😔
