the consequence to this comes when Pakhi fakes pregnancy and everyone suspects him. No wonder! It is huma psychology to come to conclusions based on past events. Virat does think about all this, by his nature and hence the denial and silence. Being devils advocate here

The thing is even now, it's only his wife that's hurting and he knows how much his family hates her and how she wants to leave after helping him heal.
