Note: Please do not make this about Sai vs Virat.I am talking about how are characters but how they are written.

If you revisits the earlier episodes you would notice she used to give back to Pakhi as well; but it was after Virat gave an unneccasary leeway to Pakhi in his marriage and confessed his feelings before and after Pakhi left home has led Sai to believe she is the third wheel between Virakhi..

Also, Sai only fights for her right; in thr intial phase of marriage Virat has made her realise too many times both verbally and non verbally that Pakhi holds a higher ground and place in his heart.

Now; Sai believes if Virat is not hers why should she and should she fight for? ??

During the course of time Patralekha might have lost her place in Virat's life but Virat has never been verbal about this change to Sai..

What's worse leaving one or two occassions Virat has done nothing to stop the humilation that Sai suffers through the hands of Pakhi apart from giving disapproving nods which does nothing frankly..

And in all the major fights she has acted as a catalyst; even during the episode of throwing Sai out: it was a fight between Virat and Sai..

But when Patralekha interrupted and Sai asked her not to interfere Virat again gave the authority to interfere.

The outrage he shows when Patralekha is insulted becomes totally missing when Sai is humilated/ insulted.

What I personally feel bad for as a women:

Yes; Sai can fight for herself but is it wrong of her or anyone to think that a spouse should be equally enraged when his other half is insulted..

Sai has never felt it and I don't think the story keeps the scope of the same with Vankar's obsession of Virakhi..

Coming back to topic, Sai has never been able to fully find herself in a cocoon where her other half is protective of her, it looks more like Virat has assumed she doesn't need it and half times when he has tried to do so, the next moment he has shifted like a pendulum to other party..

For example: During Shivratri he supported Sai and than we got couple romance..but as soon he got the fake letter and got that planted form and when Sonali dragged Sai's dead mother; there was this just nod, no verbal outrage..It should not matter your partners respect should matter.

In yesterdays episode, also when Patralekha insulted Sai there was this weird nod and look, why he is not verbal about the abuse.

All these things never let Sai to let her guard down..but in moments of this pull and push where Virat at one moment gets all romantic and in other he becomes a mute spectator, the lines blur for Sai as well , she gets confused and frustated and most of these times she uses the "Pati hai mere" dialogue

Sai does raise her voice against Pakhi too.

In the latest episode too, she told Pakhi that if that she knew all those, Pakhi should have helped her unite Devi with Pulkit. Generally, she asks right questions or retorts to people when they speak unreasonable or unfair words to her. Below is what I have observed and understood or guessed from Sai's replies.

Sai knows how to give it back to everyone, like how to speak to Karishma, like acting sweet the same way she does and by using sarcastic words which will ultimately either shut her up or bring out the truth out of Karishma's lies.

She handles Kaku in the same authority as that of Kaku sometimes and in a comical way if it is not a very serious thing. She adopts the same authority as that of Kaku whenever she tries to show her upper handedness in the house. Sai knows it very well that at the end people will be made to follow only her words.

The same goes with Ninad, the way he talks rudely and violently, she tries to answer him in his own language. I think she does that to tell him indirectly that others can also speak that way and if needs answers to his questions, he better changes his way of questioning. It also stems from the fact that Ninad always takes that tone with Ashwini and Sai has always hated it, she has been trying to indirectly communicate to Ninad that people can shut him up too, people can be rude to him too and also to show him a mirror as this is how it looks when one shows their masculine power.

Sonali is no less, Sai knows to put her in place too. Usually she will taunt her or try to talk to her in a sarcastic sweet tone. Infact Sai usually ingores Sonali.

Sai has observed Pakhi too. She used to give her befitting replies right after their marriage but after Virat questioned her if she was jealous of Pakhi, she realised what she was doing and toned down a little. And she changed even that after Virat questioned her as why should she have problems with Pakhi when she thinks it to be a deal marriage, this was the time Pakhi had gone to her maayka. Not just that Sai had promised to Pakhi when she requested her to return to CN and she also heard Virat telling Pakhi over phone that no one will insult her when he was also requesting Pakhi to return. Sai had realised just the previous day to all this, as how important Pakhi was to Virat when Virat was talking to Sunny. And then the constant reminder from Virat asking her not to insult Pakhi kept her in check.

Other than all of these, Sai has been noticing how Pakhi keeps claiming all of their replies to her own taunts as insults to her.

How she has always made a big drama in front of the family after they spoke something to her. But none of these has actually stopped Sai replying back to Pakhi.

She had even recently asked Pakhi as why she was emotionally blackmailing, so she is fully aware of what is Pakhi capable of.

She knows that she will emotionally blackmail Kaku & gang or even Virat.

She also knows how Pakhi is capable of twisting things, how she is capable of steering the conversation to some other direction, so sometimes she really acts very carefully with Pakhi. She has been learning these from Virat too.

She knows Pakhi's potential. She also is fully aware of Pakhi's motives.

She is aware that Paakhi's main goal is to put her down, insult her, show her in a bad light, to prove her wrong and to ultimately look good in front of Virat and show Sai as a bad person.

Sai knows that she is doing it all to make the family think that Sai is not the right person for Virat. She knows that she is trying to make Virat too feel that way.

Sometimes she gets carried away and gets riled up by Pakhi's words but once she realises what Pakhi is actually trying to do, she tones down and gives it back to Pakhi in her own way.

She knows that if she shouts at Pakhi, Pakhi will become uncontrollable, she knows that Pakhi can do anything by acting a victim. She knows that at the end of the day, she will use her victim card, will use Samrat going missing, her living alone and try to win the battle.

Most importantly Sai has noticed hurt in Pakhi and sympathises with her. I think though Sai keeps claiming herself as Virat's wife, she feels that she is probably leading Pakhi's life and the position that she is claiming actually doesn't belong to her but belongs to Pakhi. (She acts very possessive at times when she loses control. She fails to hide her actual emotions when Pakhi comes in between her and Virat or ruins her moments with Virat. )

Sai asks the right questions to Pakhi. She knows exactly what is running in Pakhi's mind when it is about Virat and her. She always corners her with this information fully aware that Pakhi will not be able to answer it. She is very blunt with Pakhi, challenges Pakhi to accept that Pakhi has issues with her and Virat's closeness. Pakhi speaks too many venomous things that it becomes impossible to answer her. Any retort will be taken as insult, she cannot yell at her and give her a chance to continue taunting her, so she sometimes shuts her up by using Virat's name. She knows that will hit her the most, she knows that if she talks about her and Virat's relationship, Pakhi will get affected and will shut up too. She has learnt the tactics to shut Pakhi's nonsense. She knows well that her normal retort will never help in dealing with Pakhi.

Sai did raise her voice against Pakhi many times. Just this week,when Pakhi entered without knocking then also she confronted her. Pakhi deserves no respect at all as the elder Bahu since she never behaved like one with Sai.

Sai ignores Pakhi sometimes specially when the issue is far more important than raising voice against that hopeless woman. She reacts for the bigger issue and drives her energy there.

Sai knows she can not confide in Virat in Pakhi issue. He swings both sides and crosses the extremes like he did at the time of throwing her out. She can not depend on Virat ..so she does it her own way choosing to react or not ....but it is not out of respect.
