Dil ki baat, metaphors and more...

What. A. Treat! This episode was jus- Wow...I have no words. Doesn’t feel like the previous ghum. I have not been watching for 3 weeks, and this was an amazing episode to return to. Can feelings ooze out of the screen and melt all over your heart? Cause that’s what happened. Btw did they change their cinematographer, cause this cinematography is beyond ghum’s capabilities.

As much as I am dreading the separation, I think the intensity of this episode got multiplied because the separation is looming over our heads. We know that things are going to get ugly, that’s why the love and happiness is so overpowering.

Something I wanted to discuss was Virat telling Sai his Dil ki Baat. Does Virat himself know his dil ki baat? WE know his dil ki baat but does he? Don’t gemme wrong, I agree that Virat is in love with Sai. That’s a fact now. (Can’t say the same for Sai. She loves him, sorta, but is she IN love with him?) However, this is the same Virat who wants Sai to understand his feelings through his twisted gestures and jalebis. I don’t think he can so readily confess without fully realising what exactly he is confessing. The only reason I’m not dwelling on this aspect of today’s episode is because Ik that the confession is never gonna happen. But if it did, it is kind of a mystery what Virat will say to Sai. What Sai would say, that to god only knows.

Loved how formal Virat was with Didi. He might have given Sai loads of jalebis regarding his relationship with Didi, but to PP, he has told the plain hard truth. She’s just another family member to him. According to me and most others I believe, there’s no friendship either. Hopefully if Didi’s letter antics are revealed to Virat, then after the separation, he will just ignore her. Nothing will piss her off more than that.

Bonus points for the symbolism and metaphors in today’s episode. Virat and Pakhi’s formal relationship, and Sai and Virat’s raw real relationship was conveyed beautifully through the gulaal. Sai rubbing off Didi’s gulaal, was basically Sai nonchalantly clearing Pakhi’s delusions. Sai feeding everyone just shows how she spreads love and cares about everyone, while ‘kitna sochti ho tum sabke baare mein’ bahu stood in the corner, lamenting the loss of someone who was never hers. (Patralekha has dug her own grave by not forming any real bonds with anyone. Her loneliness is completely on her.) I’m sure I am missing some instances as well.

All in all, a heartwarming precursor to weeks of heartbreak.

Also, loved how Sai unknowingly rubbed the colour off Pakhi’s cheeks. It shows how she never had any malicious intention, nor did she ever want to hurt her, in fact she would never want to come between Virat and Pakhi, like after Ladakh trip confrontation she says to Virat, “this is like cheating on Pakhi Didi.”

Thank you for this post. This is the question that has been nagging me since morning. Let us assume that Virat's time in Amaravati has made him realize how much he misses her presence. How will this rejection-phobic man decide to express his feelings to Sai so easily?

The metaphor was awesome. 👍🏼

Yaaasss! Exactly. Added to this is that both Virat and Sai didn’t express much when they saw each other after so long. Like no physical contact, they didn’t even address the missing each other part. We can assume Virat missed her a lot cause he said “Main Sai ke bina nahin reh sakta, yeh to main samajh gaya hoon.”, so that sorta implies that he had a hard time staying without her in Amravati. But still not enough evidence.

Lovely post and very well written. Pakhi was trying hard to not let anyone apply gulaal where Virat had applied. But, Sayi applied gulaal on the same cheek rubbing off Virat's gulaal. I found it significant. It proved that Virat was never destined to be Pakhi's but he was destined to be Sayi's and now he's totally moved on and has accepted Sai as his wife.

That's also probably the reason why he couldn't say a word to her. He doesn't actually know his true feelings. He only knows he feels something special for her and since a few days he is worried about losing her.
