GHKPM: Balancing TRPs and Storytelling :)

Hello Forum-waasis. I hope you all had a good weekend. No episode today so complete lack of badbad on the forum, toh maine socha main hu kuch bak deti hu.

Till now, the show has been doing great TRP wise and this makes me really happy because this has not come at the cost of storytelling or characterization and this is a HUGE deal because the concerned channel is Star Plus. 😆

It's just been two months the story and characters seem to be well- crafted. Nothing seems like it's been added for the heck of it. Of course, it does help that it's a remake of an extremely successful show. Why I decided to make this post was us forum members mostly seem to be a sensible lot and are not the kind who will accept anything in the name of love/drama/romance and so far, we've more or less been pretty happy with the way things have been. But the show is also highly appealing to somebody like my grandmother and TRP dhoom tana dhoom tana aunties. It has avoided a problematic and misogynistic male lead (those kinds are trending these days by the way and forgiven way too easily by both the FL and the fans). It has also avoided a mahatyaagi, perfect, sanskari female lead. Most importantly, most cliched and pukeworthy "romantic scenes" have been completely done away with. The casting has been great which really brings in the authenticity. Most things seem to be well-researched except for Army and Police stuff but can't have too much of a good thing.

In short, so far so good. Let's hope the CVs continue down this road and they don't resort to cheap tricks and sacrifice all the good work they've done for TRPs.

Exactly! Even I'm pleasantly surprised with the way the show's going. Because, after the first few episodes itself, characters start getting butchered and the story becomes🤢. But here, the characters are staying true to the way they were portrayed from the beginning (though sometimes we do find them extremely annoying). I just hope that the makers have a storyline and stick to it instead of turning it into a completely different story. I just hope that the makers don't try to turn Rajma Chawal into Alfredo Pasta...

You are so right, things have been pretty much balanced so far. And I hope it stays the same, I have seen great storylines fall prey to TRP and it would be such a pity if it happened to this one. Considering that its prime time, I think it will garner good TRPs for some time.

Its all about how they handle tracks though, even a separation track has its own pros and cons, it all depends on the way its handled.

However, multiple separations, multiple marriages of leads and multiple functions/marriage are what I hope this show avoids. There are many other tracks to show instead shaadi tracks of I don't know whom.

I agree! So glad for once ITV audience has made a wise decision, wish it was getting trp's closer to kundali though as this show is far better and deserves to be up here with anupama. I think just the trp that came out this week was 2.0 right and heard it is sharing the 5th position with yeh hai chahatein and imlie? So glad it's doing well. If show's like this are in top 10 then it will encourage a change to content in itv.

What's wrong with alfredo pasta? 🤣 I actually don't like rajma.... more of a tarka dal girl 😆

I honestly don't know why Kundali and Kumkum are even the top shows... who even watches those?

I watch kkb online 😆 but I skip most of it 😆 I only watch the scenes with the new generation cast and new gen couple pranbir and not for oldie cast, but I agree the lead couples of both shows and the story itself is garbage and toxic 🤢
