The 'suhaagraat' taunt should actually be enough for a smart IPS officer like Virat to smell the rat already. I mean, his "best friend" also speaks of it in a pretty contemptuous way although he has already explained the situation and Sai's mental condition to her.

Self respect kya Hoti hai, ye to ab Sai dikhayegi Pakhi ko and Virat Ko. I am sure if she overhears some nonsensical statement about their so called love from Virat, she's going to give him the kind of cold shoulder that will leave him shivering.

No matter what he says and reiterates, he cannot take Sai's aloofness. It affects him like nothing else.

To hell with this best friend nonsense firstly. It's insulting friendship like never before.

I guess Virat IS noticing these things and is getting frustrated. But is hanging on to his own love for old memories sake perhaps.
