Twinkle replaced by Gunjan-DISCUSS HERE

Hello members,

I know everyone is very upset that Twinkle is leaving GKLB and many are accusing the production house of lying. Now, we don't know what the truth is... if the production house is actually lying or not. What we are discussing here are just mere speculations. So its better not to accuse the production house nor Twinkle without knowing the actual facts.

I find it rather odd that the production house would fire Twinkle, the lead actress of GKLB who has been so well accepted by all the viewers, without a good reason. For example, the production house of Dulhann or Saat Phere wudnt fire their lead actresses without a good reason, esp cuz its because of them that the show is getting such high TRPs. And the same goes with GKLB as well.

It has been almost a year and a half now that we've seen Twinkle as Laxmi, and the production house wud clearly know that changing their lead actress at this point of time wud be risky for the show. So obv they took this decision because they had to. But again, I'm not accusing Twinkle... I'm just trying to look at the other side of the story.

Well, having said all this, there's no point on me or anyone else to dwell on the past that can't be changed. Its best to look forward to see Gunjan Walia as Laxmi and see how she will do. She has not even started playing Laxmi, and already so many have already started saying that she won't be good for the role etc. Why don't we give her some time and let her prove it otherwise?

Many other imp characters have been changed in this show. First, Yuvraj was changed... then Kshitij and then Gauri. And I remember very vividly many were upset when Kshitij/Yuvraj/Gauri was replaced. And eventually, the new actor grew on us and we learned to accept them. I think in the same way, if we give Gunjan a chance, she may do really well as Laxmi.

All I'm asking is... you guys, please give the new actress a chance. And most importantly, pls refrain from bashing the new actress by calling her a bad actress or too old looking etc. Pls keep the IF COC in mind while expressing your views. We haven't even seen Gunjan as Laxmi yet!

I just cant believe ,, they fired her,, I liked Twinkle since the saregamapa show ,, and was happy that she got to act even though she didn't win the singing show ,, I started watching the show only to see if Twinkle can act,,

I understand what kruthi means abt yuvraj , gauri and kshitji being changed,, but none of them were the main character ,, they were always side ,,
Yuvraj was changed after like the first two episodes so it wasn't such a big deal ,, Gauri didn't have much character didn't have much exposure before changing also,, and only person I really noticed and felt bad for was Kshitji ,, but again a side character,,

I don't know what the reason is behind firing Twinkle ,, but I seriously think it will lower viewers, ,, also karan and twinkle had some chemistry with each other ,, this reminds me of when they changed character kusum from the serial kusum on sony ,, I didn't even like the serial and still I couldn't accept a new person playing "kusum" I hope Twinkle gets another serial, will miss seeing her on screen ,,

Why are so many main actors being replaced ?
Are the actors the problem or the production house demanding too much?

Does anyone know if Lakshmi has actually officially been changed yet or it's to be done yet? If it's something yet to be done I hope the production team and Twinkle can work it out between them and don't take it further... but if she is officially fired I just wish her all the best for the future in whatever she does whether it's acting, singing or something else...

Its official now, I'm pretty sure. Twinkle, the creative head of Zee, and the production house have all been interviewed and quoted on it. If u check out one of the articles posted on Twinkle leaving, it says that Twinkle has been replaced and Gunjan passed the look test with flying colors... so she's going to take over the role of Laxmi.

Kruthi, points well taken. It's just such a surprise and disappointment, really.
I understood your reply regarding bashing.

But I have to make one statement on that. Many of us did say Kunjan would not be a good fit. Acting for me and probably some other viewers is about the acting skills and the look of the person (the fit). (For example, Gunjan is believable as Saraswati, obviously not as Menka!) And it is this latter part (look) where I think Gunjan is somewhat off. I have seen her before in other roles (Parivaar, as a no-nonsense Dr., and Saath Phere as a young gaam-wali), and pictures of her. I think she can pull the acting off. But on the "look fit", it's hard to believe she is the youngest daughter. The creatives may put her in the latest fashions, have her foray at the mall, go with Karan to restaurants, etc.--but that really won't overcome her natural features which are more DOE-LIKE and VULNERABLE. Jhansi ki rani? I hope she can roar! She is pretty, probably a very competent actress, I guess I was thinking Janki TB, Mahi from Maayka. Let's see what she can do.

I could definitely see Janki in her role, but not Mahi/Neha. She just doesn't have the attitude for it. I can't imagine her going on one of Lakshmi's extended tirades. I actually think Kunjan looks reasonably like Twinkle, even if a bit older.

Age seems to be a foreign concept to these people anyway. Serials always have that disconnect. I mean as far as I'm concerned, Savitri looks scarcely 2 years older than her eldest daughter...in fact I wonder if she would look younger than Saras in another context. Remember what clothing and makeup can do. She plays two extremes in country girl Vrinda and modern doctor Radha. Now is her chance to play something in between.

I know my opinion will not be popular but I for one am glad! I've never been a big fan of Twinkle's acting and I was always disappointed to read about her poor attitude. It seems unfair that the entire morale of the cast and crew should be brought down just because she can't behave properly.

I really like Gunjan and she's always been good in everything I've seen her in, so I hope she'll do the character justice. My only problem is that she seems quite a bit older than Twinkle and even the girls who play the sisters! 😆
