Sid Makkar's given up on his bachelorhood!

The actor got hitched to sweetheart Shalini on December 2 but unlike some actors who prefer high-profile wedding bashes, Sid's marriage was a low-key affair. So why the secrecy? "It wasn't a secret," explains Sid, "It's just that we both didn't want a lavish free-for-all affair. It was a simple mandir wedding followed by a party for friends and family members."

Talking about how he met Shalini, Sid says, "She's an air-hostess and we met at a friend's party some two-and-a-half years back. We hit it off and have been together since." But matching an actor and an air-hostess' schedule can be quite a task, as Sid discovered. "We used to end up meeting only twice in a month as she was not even based in Mumbai. But since the past one year, we've been managing to catch up atleast once a week." So when did he decide to take the plunge? "I used to be the kind of guy who used to say that I won't get married till I'm 40!" laughs Sid, "But when that somebody special comes by with whom you want to spend the rest of your life, then why delay?" Owing to his busy shooting schedule, the couple haven't been able to go for a honeymoon yet. "But I will be taking her somewhere in February, to some beachy place. It's a surprise for her," he says with a smile.

So for the time being, Sid's concentrating on his serial Mere Apne, where he plays the role of Kashinath Pandey's youngest son Shankar Pandey. "He's a completely useless fellow but a very passionate and intense guy. He does everything from his heart and can even kill for the right reasons," he says. Sounds completely different from Satyakaam, his character in Ghar Ki Laxmi... Betiyaan. "I was looking for a departure from Satyakaam," agrees Sid. He's also been busy shooting for Straight, a comedy film he shot for with Vinay Pathak and Gul Panag in London. Guess the two 'Ws' in his life " wedding and work "are keep this guy mighty busy!
