Jhanvi is going the Laxmi way and will end up irritating the viewers just like Laxmi did .
The problem with the Betiyaan is that they don't know where and how to show the value of self respect . They become seedha with people like Kajri and Balvant and bend down to touch their feet and lick their feet , but they show self respect with people who love them and stand by them or want to help them .
Laxmi refused Karan's offer to give money for Surya's operation and opted for his health to deterioate claiming it was a matter of ' self respect .' Surya needed a brain surgery , and this girl , who did not have a single penny , was showing self respect .
Similiarly Jhanvi talks rudely to Nikhil when he offers to buy Balvant off and claims her self respect was more important . But this same Jhanvi had no problem touching Balvant's feet earlier . That time her nose was not in the air .
If she could compromise that for ' saving the family business ' what is the harm in taking the money from Nikhil to ' save the family business ' ? I don't see the logic in her attitude at all . They compromised so much with Kajri for Baa , but they cannot accept money from a friend , this compromise they cannot do ? Ridiculous and annoying !
If so much self respect she has she can accept it on loan basis , first get the business back , then ask him to help them get orders and slowly repay every penny back . Now this would be real self respect .
But what the Betiyaan always show as self respect is only empty pride . Self respect shown in situations where u cannot afford to show it is always empty pride . Nikhil has compromised so much for her , accepted her inspite of her being a prostitute , cheered her at the match , tried to give her such a huge sum , instead of valuing it she acts too hoity toity .
Instead what has Jhanvi done for him ? The answer is .........nothing . Instead , knowing that he is fully hooked , she constantly turns him down and plays hard to get as if she has a golden butt .
I vote that they show us a real man in Betiyaan who isn't chauvinistic like Surya but who has the guts to take offence when devalued and walk away and make the Betiyaan run after him for a change . This serial is about woman power but woman power doesn't mean expecting men to be wusses or constantly living at maayka . Men should have no say , and stay at their maayka is the Betiyaan motto ............show us a man who has the guts to give them a tight slap and walk away .

A very good post!! I couldn't agree more...they show "self-respect" where it is not due & give respect to those who don't deserve it...their morals are skewed!
Why didn't they do this bandhni saree thing when Kajri had taken over the house?? I agree, take the money from Nikhil on a loan basis, work to pay him back. Nikhil should have taken offense to Jhanvi's behaviour - set her in her place!
Karan was one of those few who really made a difference to the show...pity the show lost him...
Since they are showing such stupidity, maybe add to this stupidity by showing Kshitij changing his name from Kshitij Gandhi to Kshitji Garodia...he is as good as one of the betis....
Thanks for a great post again!

The bandhni thing was their family business yet they never showed an inclination to it . They have shown it too late ............still , let us see how it works ! Most of the times their success stories r pretty stupid and unrealistic . So Frankly i dont have much hopes for it .

I also said this in yesterday's update and thought the same thing. She spoke to Nikhil so rudely. How was he buying her, as she so crudely put it? She is willing to sacrifice her "self respect" for Balwant, but not for her fiance who loves her and wants to help her.

Furthermore I hate her stuck-up princess attitude with Nik. Who celebrates monthly anniversaries? Only couples who won't last long enough to celebrate yearly anniversaries, I thought. It's not as though she went out of her way for him on this "anniversary." Does she expect a big to-do every month for the rest of her married life?

The worst part is that in all of this, Nikhil's character is being ruined. He is being Kshitij-ified. What kind of man would put up with this rubbish? Only a wimp. Poor guy is so henpecked even before getting married.

This is where the scriptwriters aways go wrong , especially this Betiyaan team . They over do everything , even the self respect part .
1] Jhanvi talking of Nikhil buying her so called self respect [ after she had touched that oaf Balvant's feet under Saraswati's tutelage ] is really laughable , when some months back she was selling her self respect , body , the whole package willy nilly .
2] She is taking far too much advantage of the fact that he is smitten by her and really making him dance to her tunes . Already , one sees , he has no voice left . She constantly turns him down in front of the whole family . It has become a regular feature in their relationship .
3] To show the women as Durgas and Chandis in the show , the scriptwriters r emasculating the men in the show . This is not real woman power at all . I always feel that humility of a person , be it a man and a woman , is his real strength . A real strong person is so rarely vociferous ...........her actions speak louder than her words .
4] It is hi time some one really slaps Jhanvi . She is thinking no end of herself . As a viewer i feel like reaching out in the TV and doing it myself .😆

Ek Thappad dena chahiye ..............Shitij ne Saraswati ko , Nikhil ne Jhanvi ko aur Ranbir ne Durga ko , jo itne din se aalsi ki tarah Maayke mein padi hui hai . Itni murakh auratein hai ............they touch feets of gundas and boss their husbands around . Seriously , although Im a woman myself I feel these women need cavemen tactics to knock sense in their addled brains .

I have nothing further to add. I liked Jhanvi in the beginning. I respected her for leaving the house and freeing herself from Kajri's grip when her other goofy sisters and mother(s) wouldn't. I still sort of remember what she said: "You may all be used to humiliation, but I'm not." Sooo...what happened? I guess after spending all this time with the Garodias, she has become more accustomed to humiliation and degradation...

Even though the dance contest and dance school was a stupid nonsensical idea, anything was better than staying behind and being Kajri's puppet.

I actually liked her more as a "bad" girl--at least she had a spirit of independence. She has become a spoiled brat and a fool like her sisters.

So when we finally get tired of her, what are the writers going to do? Make up another cockamamie story to come up with a 6th daughter? Then when she starts becoming annoying, there will be a 7th daughter, and the cycle will continue...rather than just improving the current set of characters...
