The opening line sets a contemplative tone, drawing me into Geet’s perspective. Her choice to keep to herself suggests a significant emotional weight and perhaps unresolved feelings about the night in question. The phrase “a blur of conflicting emotions” is evocative, gives a complex mix of thoughts that Geet herself might not fully understand yet. Her whispered words suggest a deep yearning for clarity and connection, yet they are tinged with hesitation and fear, which makes the interaction feel authentic and relatable.
The beauty of your writing lies in its ability to say so much with so little, creating an intimate and poignant atmosphere that resonates deeply. The words are carefully chosen, and the emotions they evoke feel raw and real, leaving me captivated and yearning to uncover the resolution of this heartfelt exchange. It’ shows us your skill in weaving emotion and suspense into a single, unforgettable moment. Waiting Waiting …

Chapter 6 -
Geet’s heart raced, the soft touch of Maan’s fingers still lingering on her skin, burning through the thin veil of her composure. She had wanted him to acknowledge her...to see her, to understand that she was no longer just part of a contract...but now that he was so close, her breath caught in her throat.
For a moment, there was silence between them. The tension was thick, the air heavy with unsaid words, emotions that both of them were too afraid to voice. Geet felt an overwhelming sense of longing and despair flood through her all at once. She wanted to reach out to him, to make him understand that she wasn’t just some fleeting desire...she was real, and she wanted him. Not just for one night, but for always.
But would he ever see her like that? Would he ever let himself feel what she did?
She opened her mouth, ready to speak, to say something - anything - that would bridge the gap between them, but Maan interrupted her, his voice low, almost hoarse.
“I’m not a man who gives in easily, Geet,” he said quietly, his hand still resting against her cheek, his thumb gently stroking her skin. “I’m not sure what this is...this... pull I feel when you’re near....but I know one thing, I don’t know how to handle it.”
Geet’s heart fluttered, her breath catching in her chest. Was he saying what she thought he was saying? Was he acknowledging this... connection between them?
“I don’t know what love is,” he continued, his voice strained. “I don’t know how to feel it. I’ve never had the luxury of it, never let myself be vulnerable enough to understand it.” He let out a bitter laugh, his eyes darkening. “And now... now, I don’t know how to deal with what you’re making me feel.”
Geet swallowed, her heart aching. The words he spoke were so raw, so genuine, that it made her chest tighten with a mixture of hope and sorrow. He didn’t know how to love. But that didn’t mean it wasn’t possible, did it?
“What are you afraid of, Maan?” she whispered, her voice barely audible. She had asked herself the same question many times over the last few days. “What is it that keeps you so distant, so... closed off?”
His eyes flickered with something...something vulnerable...but he quickly masked it with his usual steely expression.
“I’m afraid of losing control, Geet. Afraid of letting anyone in. I don’t know what happens if I let you in. And I’m not sure if I want to find out.”
Geet could feel the coldness in his words, the impenetrable wall he had built around himself. He had been hurt, of that much she was certain. But would he ever let someone in again? Would he ever let himself feel for her the way she felt for him?
Before she could say anything more, Maan stepped back, breaking the moment of connection between them.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he said sharply, though there was no real anger in his tone. “I won’t give you false hope, Geet. This is not going to turn into something more. I’ve already warned you once.”
Geet’s heart sank. She knew this was coming, but hearing him say it out loud still hurt more than she had expected. But there was something else in his eyes....something flickering beneath the surface. He wasn’t as certain as he was trying to make her believe.
“Fine,” she said softly, her voice steady despite the ache in her chest. “If that’s what you want, Maan. I won’t push. I’ll... I’ll stop expecting more from you.”
Her words were a lie, but it was the only defense she had left. She couldn’t keep begging him to love her, to open up. If he was too afraid to take that step, there was nothing she could do to make him.
Geet turned away from him, her throat tightening as she walked toward the door. She had to leave before she said something foolish, before her heart completely broke.
“Maan, I...” she stopped mid-sentence, her hand hovering over the doorknob. “I’m not asking you to love me. I’m just asking you to see me. To see what I’m feeling. But if you can’t, I’ll... I’ll be okay.”
She didn’t wait for his response. She couldn’t.
With a final glance at him, Geet left the room, closing the door softly behind her. The hallway stretched out before her, as empty as her heart felt in that moment.
It was two days before Maan spoke to her again.
Geet had kept herself busy with her duties around the mansion, trying to keep her mind occupied. She couldn’t afford to dwell on the words she had said, or the way Maan’s presence had torn her heart open. Every time she passed him in the house, he was the same....cold, distant, and entirely absorbed in his own world.
She had come to terms with it. She would no longer chase after him. She had already given him everything....her heart, her trust, her body. If he couldn’t return the same, she would accept it.
But acceptance wasn’t easy, not when every part of her longed for him.
It was late in the evening when Maan found her again. Geet was sitting by the large windows in the living room, staring out at the dark sky, lost in thought. The mansion had quieted down, and it was just her and the night.
Maan’s footsteps were the only sound that broke the silence. Geet didn’t turn around, even when he stopped just behind her.
“Geet,” he said her name softly, almost as if he were testing it out.
She didn’t respond immediately, unsure of how to act. She had steeled herself to pretend she didn’t care, but it wasn’t working. Not when he was standing so close.
“Are you going to keep ignoring me?” he asked, his voice quieter now.
Geet turned to face him, her eyes meeting his. There was something different in his gaze....something less guarded. She saw it. The struggle. The vulnerability he was trying to hide.
“I’m not ignoring you,” she said, her voice calm, though her heart raced. “I’m just... letting you figure things out, Maan. I’m tired of fighting for something that isn’t real.”
Maan’s jaw clenched at her words, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he reached out, his hand brushing against hers, a silent plea for understanding.
For a moment, there was a quiet, unspoken connection between them. Neither of them moved, neither of them spoke. But in that stillness, Geet felt something shift. Maybe Maan didn’t know what love was yet. Maybe he was afraid of what it would mean to open up to her.
But the look in his eyes now told her one thing: he wasn’t ready to let her go.

This update is absolutely captivating and brimming with emotional depth! The way you’ve portrayed Maan’s vulnerability and inner conflict is truly commendable. His raw confession, layered with hesitation and unspoken longing, makes me feel every ounce of his turmoil. Geet’s quiet strength and unwavering resolve beautifully balance his guarded nature, creating a dynamic that’s both compelling and heartfelt.
The dialogue is so poignant—it pulls me into their world, making me root for their connection and hope for Maan to overcome his fears. The pacing is perfect, allowing each word to sink in and resonate deeply. This update is a reflects to your incredible talent for storytelling, blending passion, tension, and tenderness seamlessly. Kudos on such an impactful chapter! Can’t wait to see where this journey leads them.
