Shot two.....
Mridu had been tottering from living room to bedroom. She had been bringing all her toys one by one. Settling them beside her father. When the some toy happened to bigger than her she tried to steady herself she as dragged them. He sat on the mattress lying at one corner of room. Makeshift bed for him. Though geet had offered him the her own bed. He don't wanted mridu and geet to sleep on floor when he was cause of inconvenience. He just had had a meeting with his staff was left with lots of time. He adore Mridu antics.
A smile touch his lips no sooner it faded. Soon this lockdown would be over. He would be back to his routine and geet hers . Far from mridu. At the end they have to part. Is he doing wrong parting mother. Mridu must not get used to his company.
She had been sitting by window. Her palm covered her face as sobbed. Dressed in fuchsia coloured kurti and turquoise salwar she made a good picture. Her fair skin made the colour more bright. He felt bad. Geet had crying. Something deep inside ached badly. He has hurt her again. When she was married to him. He had badly hurted her that’s what had been told by his entire family. Her gloomy face haunted him. If her happiness lied in separation he was darn eager to grant her same. Now seeing those eyes again with tears pained him.
“Geet...” He gently placed sleeping mridu beside geet.
“She is all yours” he caresses mridu little head gently
“ ...i would never separate you two” he gently squeezed her shoulder assuring her.
He left the room. Resolved not to bother them.

Few of the late birds were returning their home. Bats had started to appear in the sky more. They have now become the potent vectors of various viral diseases. Nipah Ebola were few examples to count among many. He thought as sat on balcony. Their was eerie silence. All the society members live inside their houses following social distancing.
“Maan...she called softly first time in 14 days. All these days she preferred not to take his name. Something seemed change.
She had prepared idly with chutney. Table was already set with idly sambhar and chutney. He sat across her.
There wasn't much flour left" she supplied. He hadnt asked nevertheless she explained. She looked calmer then before. She slept through day. Emotionally drained. His assurance might have worked he thought.
She peeked from the corner of eyes slowly nibbling the small bite of idly. When maan came to her this noon she all busy in crying her hurt out. She felt him near her. Him assuring her. But she kept crying. Two years of pain and hurt she had all inside her finally found the outlet. She needed him. With her. Be it happy or sad. But he not for once asked her reason why she wanted to part. After long time when she calmed down she laid there closing her eyes thinking. As a father it’s his right to spend time with her daughter. No their daughter. She couldn't deny the fact that mridu is his daughter too. Just like her he must have nurtured the parental love. Its natural.
Its not the matter of just 21 days. There would be time when mridu would need both her parents equally. They need to sort this out.
Evening snacks could her little olive branch may be.
“Have some more” his brows shot up
.......
“Woh... will you look after mridu for a while meera di is not here may be her family like to have some idly too” she hurried to delivers same.
Geet..” he looked at her keenly their gaze held.
“I don't think it’s a good. The lesser we get attached it it would be easy for all of us.”
She side glanced him. Holding the two big blow placed one above the other. He has come to stand across her. He donned cream chicken kurta and pyjama. His stubble has grown long. To be suitably called bread. Unkempt.
“Maan she is your daughter” she inhaled deeply “would remains yours even after the this lockdown is over" she left.
Days passed. With passing days he got to know many things about geet. Like after their divorce she joined as a PGT teacher to support her and mridu. She loves reading. After her maternity leave was over. Meera di family looked after mridu. Meera, a widow and mother of two. Who serving was nation as nurse. Geet has taken the charge of their mother. Feeding them and looking after their every need
On geet part she already knew most of his habits. Likes and dislikes. His hobbies discovered was reading some boring stuff as she found him reading some historical books which her lawyer father did read whenever he came.
He started helping geet in household chores. Sometime brewing coffee or making pasta. Flaunting his limited culinary skill.
On one such day when maan had been making pasta and geet some dalia (coarsely grounded wheat) for mridu. He asked “ why we parted geet?” mixing tomato sauce with pasta.
She glanced his way. It had dawned on her for sometime now like her mother said. “ He is not a bad man geet. Just mechanical and workaholic” She has seen his other side now. A loving father and caring partner.
“I don't wanted to be married to robotic husband you know” she scooped some pasta from the pan “add some salt and chilli I don't fancy anything blunt". He added some salt sparing the chillies. Life should be blend of all flavours. She has been feeding mridu.
“geet these thoda jyada kam woh toh chalta rahega that the life not perfect as my pasta" he boasted
“By the way why didn't you tell me you were pregnant if Adi Had not seen you at hospital I wouldn't have come to know that I was going to be father”
Their small kitchen had turned gloomy she felt it.“You know robots can reproduce as of now”.
She chuckles “ I am glad Adi did” she added. She pulled his cheek instead caught his beard. “ Aah!” he winced.
“Pa...pa ..pa...they heard mridu saying the word. He felt proud and happy to listen mridu Calling him papa. When he had arrived here. Her vocabulary consisted of few word nana and ma...ma. The third addition in her vocabulary elated the proud parents.
Maan lifted her planting numerous kisses on her soft chubby cheeks. Mridu rubbed her cheeks to soothe her skin.
Ma ma mridu complained
“Maan when are you getting rid of these beard of yours” geet caresses her cheeks softly
“I haven't got my shaving kit if only I can get your razor.
“ I don’t use razor. You know?"
“ Though I have veet"
“ veet. What veet"
“ The hair remover cream"
“Of course not”
“I assure you will love the feel of it" he leaned to kiss her still holding mridu babbling something they couldn't comprehend.
She dodged. “ i don't let anyone else other my husband”.
She smirked “I told have mummy. After lockdown I having a love marriage”
.......
Now that just two days are left to most awaited 14 April when the lockdown was supposed to be lifted. He is eager to be out. To solemnize his marriage to the woman he love. Though a part of was aware of the rise in number of cases of noble corona virus would not allow the authorities to lift the lockdown. Euphoric he chuckled. I would love to discover more of her meanwhile.
.....Beginning of them...
