CHAPTER 49

ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, RELIGIOUS TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, hospital/office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE.

Geet was not happy with this disagreement between Maan and herself. She followed Maan when he walked towards dining room. Geet was serving Savitri Devi, Ranjit and Adi as Maan was helping himself and sitting in his place sulking.

“Geet beta, Pinky abb kaisi hai?” (Geet, how is Pinky now?) Ranjit asked.

“Kal se behtar Baba. Do din baad uska dard bhi kam ho jaayega. Shanivaar (Saturday) tak woh chalne bhi lagegi.” (Better than yesterday Dad. After two days her pain will also reduce. By Saturday she will be able to walk.) Hearing Geet, Adi relaxed. Unaware of tension between husband and wife, Adi asked innocently, “Geet aaj kitne baje hummein tumhari ‘pag pheron’ ki rasam ke liye jaana hai.” (Geet, what time do you have to leave for your ‘pag phera’ ceremony?)

“Dadimaa, mera nashta ho gaya hai.” (Dadimaa, I’ve finished my breakfast.) Maan pushed his plate making lot of noise and got up and left. Geet also followed behind Maan.

Adi also got up with half finished breakfast when Savitri Devi stopped him, “Adi beta, aap apna nashta khatam kijiye. Maan ki ek surgery hai iss liye woh jaldi jaa rahe hain.” (Adi, you finish your breakfast peacefully. Maan has to leave early as he has a surgery.)

“Magar dadimaa........” (But Dadimaa........)

“Koi agar-magar nahi. Chaliye nashta kariye.” (No ifs and buts. Finish your breakfast.)

Meanwhile Geet was trying to calm Maan, “Aapki koi lunchtime ke baad surgery toh nahi hai?” (Do you have any surgery after lunch?)

“Kyun?” (Why?) Maan asked in an irritated voice.

“Hum aapke saath bahaar Italian lunch karna chahte hain.” (I want to go out with you for Italian lunch.)

“Magar tumhare peith?” (What about your stomach?)

“Hum kuch halka khaayenge jaise soup. Abb aap kanjoos matt banniye. Humara vivaah itni jaldbaazi mein hua ki hum dono ek dusare ko “date” bhi nahi kar sake.” (I’ll have something light like soup. Now don’t be miserly. We got married in such a hurry that we had no time to “date”.)

“Oh ho! Toh Madam “date” par jaana chahteen hain!” (Oh ho! So Madam wants to go on a“date”!)

“Haan. Kyun hum aapke saath ‘date’ par nahi jaa sakte?” (Yes. Why can’t I go with you on a “date”?) Geet pouted in false annoyance

but finally Maan melted and said, “Date it is at 01:00 o’clock.” Then Maan held Geet tightly in his arms hidden behind the portico pillars and pecked her lips

hard and Geet blushed a pretty shade of red while a triumphant Maan was whistling on his way to the car.

An hour later Adi and Geet left for Dhanvantri (Khurana) Hospital. Geet had also packed in her bag a surprise for Maan. Reaching the hospital, Adi left to meet Pinky in ICU and Geet left for Doctor’s quarters (Geet was still using Doctor’s quarters as there was no cabin assigned to her as yet!). She wore her doctor’s coat

and put stethoscope around her neck and left for her rounds.

Geet first went to ICU. She saw two of her patients i.e. Pinky and another lady. Both were progressing well and she asked them to be moved to a private ward.

Geet was doing now her rounds of Private as well as General wards when she found a gentleman in his mid fifties. He was with same two CID officers as ACP Daya, so Geet guessed him to also be in CID but at a higher rank. The Senior officer came and said, “Doctor, Good Morning! I’m Commissioner Pradyuman and I’m here to interview Mrs. Rastogi.”

“Good morning Sir. Please give me fifteen minutes. I’ll examine her and then you can question her.” Geet said politely and then walked away but remembered something so turned and came back and said, “Commissioner Sir, Mrs. Rastogi is still not aware of her husband’s demise, hence, kindly be gentle with her.” Commissioner Pradyuman nodded in agreement and Geet left for Mrs. Rastogi’s room.

Once Geet finished her rounds she asked Matron of Cardiology Department that where is Maan and she said that he was still in the OT. So Geet put her plan in action. She called Vicky and spoke to him for 15mins. and then called off. Then she wrote a sweet note, “Mishty is waiting for her Maan. Don’t be late! Shyamlalji knows where to bring you.” Then placed the note above his watch, phone and other metal things. Next she went to Dr. Vijaylakshmi’s cabin and knocked on her door. On being given permission to enter she went in.

Two hours later she was at Khurana Farmhouse dressed in a bright red chiffon saree and a practically backless blouse. Geet was looking sexy and desireable.

She had decorated the room with red roses and rose scented red candles.

Red the colour of love. She was drenched in her love for Maan and waiting. There was love’s scent in the air and the whole room. Geet had ordered food from Maan’s favourite Italian restuarant. She had requested Vicky to ask someone to clean the master bedroom of the farmhouse as well as for Vicky to drop her to Khurana Farmhouse. So that Geet is not unnecessarily delayed by Khurana security. While waiting she called Gharonda to find how Ram and Annie were doing. She spoke to Priya in detail and asked her to keep few things ready for all of them.

Half an later, Geet could sense that Maan has come before he actually opened the master bedroom door. Maan was stunned seeing Geet as her practically bare upper back was peeping from the folds of blood shot red chiffon saree.

Maan slowly came near Geet and Geet’s heart beats increased. Unable to stop himself, Maan ran his fingers along her bare back making Geet quiver in pleasure.

Just then there was a knock on the door annoying Maan, but making blushing Geet move out of Maan’s arms. Covering her back with her palla Geet opened the door to see the Farmhouse in house servant, Rambharose pushing the lunch trolley. Once the servant had placed the trolley near the sofas, Geet said, “App jaayiye Kaka hum khud paraos lenge.” (We will serve ourselves.)

“Ji Bahurani.” (Yes Ma’am.) Rambharose left the room for his work.

Hey there.. thanku for the note.. have read last few parts all together.. i loved how maaneet's love has proven true time and again.. sahil's trick was really bad using innocent annie as geet.. loved sister's concern for each other on how one can't stand anything bad about the other.. poor maan has to part from his mishty and g8ve her space enough to calm herself down and make a few decisions regarding herself and her baby sister.. this sasha is too much.. but i was disappointed k maan ne usko nikala nahi huh. He took right decision by asking his father to fire her.. i hope geet ki problem bas food poisoning hi ho.. koi aur beemaari na ho.. i dont want maaneet to part now..
