Wow. Malgudi Days, that's a very good choice. Nowadays I can't bring the zeal to read any book. Lack of attention span maybe.

Palindrome stories, I have read a few, long back when I was a silent reader. She is one the good writers here. What a variety of ideas she has used and such realistic characters.

I don't read Geet forum stories. Firstly, because of the messed up index. Secondly, like I said before can't bring myself to read anything. Even the ones that were my favourite stories I can't read them again.

My favourite stories that I can recall right now are - ( in no particular order)

1. Opposites Attract - I like arranged marriage stories and this was perfectly done. I was in my late teens when I read this and it pushed all the right buttons.

2. Web of Love - took me to another world. This is the story that started it all for me.

3. Smj Shruti's story - Nokia Meri Jaan. This story gave me such flutters. I found it really good. I still love this. Maybe I will read it again.

I will recall more stories and add but there are some writers, whatever they write I read them and also whenever I read them I always end up wishing I was as good as them.

Wait - I didn't exactly answer your question.

So the answer is

The kind of story that I love - Slice of life plus romance but the romance should be not an out and out kind but subtle and just there in the background with leads very devoted to each other.

Made me laugh - Sookie's stories. Warm and witty.

Made me cry - Forum stories have not made me cry. I might feel depressed but that's it. One that came close was Kaamchorni's Smoke and Mirror.
