Geet Handa watched her brother and couldn't help but envy him. He looked so happy!
Life was certainly unfair and so biased when it came to her! Adi, who since a teenager, had sworn he'd never marry, just got married to Pinky , a beautiful girl whom probably she grew so jealous in a healthy way . And she who can be named as helpless dreamer , dreamt for weeding day most of her life sat alone & single in the corner sipping wine.
Can you say loser?
Indeed she was! Only if her heart wasn't in love with her brother's best friend ,who had also sworn to remain single until his last breath. She groaned cursing her life and heart to have bought her in this situation. She shouldn't curse her luck though, opportunities of love had knocked the door of her heart! Recalling Dev, she sighed at the age of 16, she thought may be he was the one for her. His smile, OH BOY ! She even recalled his tempting looks . But her heart gave on him since Maan wouldn't leave her thoughts. Had she chosen dev over maan she wouldn't be in this fix . She rolled her eyes gulping another glass of wine, as if maan would have chosen her !
Blah never! Not even in her head he would!
As a successful business man Maan Singh Khurana , always had horde of girls throwing themselves on him . Being successful, powerful , how can she not mentioned his good looks, charm and sexiness , these adjectives made her fury more, but his supposedly single' status calmed her nerves to every extent .
About the girls, dint they have self respect? Especially when they knew well about his marriage conceptions? Why are they wasting their time? even when he is so rude to them?
Dint she had any self respect ? ? Maybe she wasn't physically clinging to him,but emotionally she was like a heart sick love puppy around him always . Even though she fought with herself and last few years she'd done her best to stay away from him . Because she knew she was aware that her dreams were hopeless. But her heart had given up on her efforts, every ounce of her body had shunned her idea .
Perhaps her childish love rooted deep in her heart and only prospered with time. But it is the time to cut out that love for maan and MOVE ON! Her eyes narrowed on him, watching his attempts to dance at a distance with the girl who was practically snugging him arm. If the girls were that nasty, couldn't he be a gentlemen? On usual occasions he is soo rude but when it comes to parties like this he behaves so unusual of him. Grrr! Her eyes quickly looked away unable to see the sight.
Dam she should be having fun, it was her brother's wedding. She should be dancing, not him!
" hey geet, hi! How come you are not dancing " she heard his voice interrupting her thoughts.
Yes, offcourse! She should be relishing this like never before , cause the man she loved never looked at her more than his best friend's sister right? He probably related her with adi's small kid sister . Its time to move on, from him away from him in every sense!!
" Geet ? "
Its now or never. The time has arrived, despise him geet, do not react or talk!
She Slid her chair around ,raised her chin and stared him arching her brow. " what? No lap dance anymore? "
"Lap dance?
" Lap..dancing..yeah! Wasnt that a lap dance ?? or the dance form which includes so much snugging is called something else? "
He shrugged his shoulders in defense. " Hey what m I to do? Besides I am adi's best friend, its my duty to take care of the pinky's friends?
"yes, you mean her Girl friends, right?
"If you say so, let me rephrase, its my duty to make the single ladies happy ! He replied happily
Ah the smug on his face irritated me to the core! Great! He came to me because it was his duty! Maybe Adi wanted him to take care of me great! I am just a moral obligation to him .
" Thanks but no thanks! You can go back to her . I am fine "
A hurt expression crossed his face. "No. I wasn't including you in that. You could never be a duty. You're...
I am Geet Handa. Your best friend Adi's interfering kid sister. Anything else? You know I don't want to be interfering and I don't want your care either ..
I dipped my head " I don't want any of it...enough of this now " muttered to myself.
When geet still dint look up, he cowered down in front of her. He wasn't used to being ignored by any female. He was always the talk of the town. She was glad she could ignore him. He better has this from her!
He quietly grabbed her hands in his !She froze with his contact . Why is he doing this now? She tried pulling back but his grip was firm.
" whats with you ?
" let me go. I told you na, you don't need to waste your time on this " single " lady, any more "
With a sigh , he hopped himself onto the empty chair besides her, without breaking their hands.she tried again " Geet ... In a warning tone. She looked away giving up. "
" I really dint mean you...and neither was I insulting you okay ? " His calm tone was much better ..she thought.
" And why are you here alone, anyway?? I haven't seen you here in ages.
Not that I have seen you in ages..yeah but my life revolves around you all the time . Because she couldn't strike a deal with a heart, and the best she could do was not to be in his presence. It was a big deal , and like a silly fool she pretended to be seeing someone else on all the occasions she couldn't avoid meeting him. Though she felt her heart was tricked, it wasn't actually . What a silly loser I am!!
" ah my date was quite busy with his personal...I mean office affairs and couldn't make it to the wedding..! I responded.
" oh...! he seems to buy my lie! What a great Liar you are handa!
Geet tried to pull away her hand this time more firmly. She couldn't take his torture. He was holding her hands , this sent butterflies to her tummy and her wounded heart felt so much better yet it was all so deceiving . Geet handa in all her mind was trying to forget her love for Maan Singh Khurana, and here he was hell bent on making her childish dreams alive.
Her eyes flickered the moment , his thumb began stroking the back of her hand. She raised her eyes and glanced his face which was as calm as sea. Her eyes locked with his , and the stroke of his hand drew waves of pleasure in her hearts . She shouldn't let this happen, this small intimate moment will increase her hopes as she doubted if he was even aware of his actions.
A very conscious Geet could barely breath, with his continuous torture ...when he said..
" So , is he the reason why I never see you around ? anymore? Geet are you two serious?? "
Geet jumped up, successfully breaking his hold on her. It was purely reflex effect his words had on her.
Maan was astonished with her sudden actions, not more than her next set of words .
"Again now , what's with you today? What do you care? Or are you just getting information for my brother? Why can't the two of you realize that I'm all grown up and don't need you getting into my business?
Suddenly he was leaning on her "This has nothing to do withAdi, Geet . Just answer my question. Are you two serious? Is that why you never returned my calls?
Putting her arms on his chest . Geet tried to push him away, he was very close to her. Being so tiny in front of Maan Singh Khurana , she couldn't move him even an inch. To top it all his eyes were spitting fire and she could she them clearly. The guy will not take no for an answer, this enraged her more " Maan just buzz off, stop this.. I am a big girl and you cannot keep a track on me like this...So back off
Oh-no, maybe this wasn't such a good move. His hand now grabbed her waist and swung her around. Now his face just an inch away from hers . He pushed her a little and backed her against the wall literally shoving her. She gulped down staring him, he seemed so pissed and his hold tightened more. The only thing she was glad about was the corner was pretty much lonesome and far and thus nobody could see them.
" Dare you say that to me. Whether I am keeping a track on you or not, this is my business so better answer me geet! Are you serious about the guy? "
Geet blinked, she hadn't seen him this angry ever. Actually she had, last year when her friend Ankit had dropped her home. She had to hear all sorts of things from Adi and others for being more careful with guys. But with maan it was soo fussy, he almost strangled Ankit , who had returned next morning to give her wallet. And his warning, OMG she still couldn't forget the storm of his eyes, so wild.
" Answer me , geet! He shook her once again, demanding her attention.
If he was Maan singh khurana, then she was also Geet handa, she will not give in so easily.
"Why should I answer? You are my brother's friend..I am on entitled to answer your questions and once again Its none of your business She spat
" Geett he warned before grabbing her hands and pinning them on top of her head. His body slammed on to her making her squeal .
"Geet don't do this!You know I will not leave without an answer " With his face so close, his breath falling on her eyes..it felt so different. My body reacted to his actions..i could feel something warm inspite of those wild eyes staggering mine.
I blinked my eyes and saw his face...This man and his expressions seem so unlike today just like his actions.
I decided to give in, I knew my heart would explode any moment and I wont be good for anyone...
I took a deep breath and thought to let out the truth.. I am just friends with him maan, just friends... We are not serious That's it " I looked him in the eye and found him staring .
" are you sure... ? I just want to know the truth believe me if you are lying I will find out anyway my men will find out..
" are you nuts!! Why will I lie... I mean please that's nothing between us!!
" Once again is it true? Coz if not with him..where the hell were you? You were never around here! "
"w ..what??
" Hell yes Geet, if you were around you, had you returned my calls , We wouldn't have been creating this scene in your brother's wedding!!
He enthralled her more now, whats the matter with him today..geet thought.
" For once and and all, We are just involved as friends, he is not but a friend. But for my interest can you tell me whats so bloody important in this than you had to put me up in this position and force me to get your answers out of me?
He sucked in a breath " Force?? I would never...Just then he realized their position and a look of pain ran across his face. He quickly let of his arms and step back creating a safe distance between them
Dejected with his actions, his head was hung low and geet could feel his hurt.
" I am sorry..geet..I could never hurt you.. I dint how..and when..I...I just.. I am sorry.. I will leave "
As he stepped back to leave Geet held his elbow and forced him back.
" Not now Mr.Khurana, not before you need answer my questions.. with that she pushed him and pinning him to the wall.
His face expressions changed from hurt to surprised. " Now you need to answer my questions " I planted my hands on his either sides staggering him, just like he did.
"what answers? He replied arching his brows..
" Why was the answer of me being with someone so important to you?
" That's nothing geet..get aside I need to leave He said least interested.
I pushed his chest again shocking the hell out of him " Answer me Maan, or is that.. I m not worthy to ask question to the maan singh khurana... Hai na Maan?
" geeettt He closed his eyes and sighed...
His expressions hurt me even more. As I stepped back offended a pair of hands grabbed my waist .
" Geeet He whispered pulling me closer.. I dint raise my eyes ... I could feel tears brimming my eyes..
"Why is it so hard to get answers from you Maan.. I muttered barely audible .
"Oh geet.. he held my chin making him look in his eyes.. His eyes were helpless I couldn't read them though..
" I never intended to hurt you..geet..these tears I cant bear them..please don't cry..please.. his long fingers wiped my tears while other stroked my cheek making me calm..
I settled against his hard body, I dint know why I was crying, fighting with him took a toll on him and I just wanted to be with him for some time.
His next gesture just made me feel so relaxed. He kissed my forehead long enough to make me sob.
" shhh geet..dont cryyy... he mumbled with his lips on my forehead..
It was so silly of me to cry. But his kiss was so beautiful I felt so moved. I held his collar almost hugging him when his hands proceeded towards my waist pulling me closer .
" geet never say you are not worthy... You are the most important person in my life.. His words were so strange, I had to look up to him.. He was smiling maybe, I couldn't figure out.
His hands framed me " Infact you are my life geet... This confused me as hell. Was this a dream??It might me one of my silliest imaginations...Geet tighten her hold on his shirt...not able to comprehend .
Maan smiled and once again kissed her forehead. " Yes geet, you are my life geet, and I wanted to confess these to you... but you were not around.. infact you were never around.. I love you Geet!I have always loved you!!
I felt tears falling down my cheeks as maan confessed . My heart was pounding inside my chest and all I could do was whisper " Maan...
" yes geet... he said lovingly , this time kissing my cheek.. I closed my eyes in pleasure" I am sorry for hurting you Geet... Do you...?
I smiled in response, my eyes still closed and nodded.. I have waited so long to hear this for you ..in my dreams...I never thought this might come true...ever.. I opened my eyes to find him stoking my cheek adoringly ..
He leaned closer to me pulling me closer " I feel this is more beautiful than any of yours ...or my dreams geet..'
I smiled nodding ,and wrapped my hands around him.
" I am sorry maan.. for dodging you, I was trying to avoid you because I thought I could never be yours and that hurt me... I responded looking up at him..
"shhh geet ..its okay.. I never gave you any impression of being in love..so you cant be blamed, when you started avoiding me that's when I realized I couldn't stay away from you... but yet again I wasn't sure if you like or not...
" we both are so silly maan...Cant believe we wasted all this time.. She chuckled and hugged him.He nodded accepting their silliness, though he was glad that today she stood out to him and made him confess .
"hey your fav song...isn't it... Maan said parting..away..
" yes.. I love this one! She said chirpily..
" so how about a dance my lady... he held out his hand...
"that will be nice Mr.Khurana She smiled sheepishly and place her hand..
