Attention Plz! Writers Readers, Post Deletion Impact on Story Index

You may know that there is a post clean-up initiative going on. The thread is in the global announcement section.

However, this clean up initiative may drastically impact the index of the story chapters on the fan-fiction story threads.

As most of writers give the story index based on page links (meaning using either the page number of the thread or the link containing the page number of the thread), it may get completely messed up due to the post deletions.

With the post deletions, the chapter page will get changed. If the chapter was on page 58 earlier, it will appear on page 50 or 55 or 57 based on the number of posts deleted from the thread, whereas the story index link will still show it on Page 58.


and the change will have a ripple effect based on the posts getting deleted in between two chapters.


For the current ongoing stories, I would suggest to use 'post based link' now onward and also give the page number for the index.

However, not sure what can be done for the old stories which are closed or old threads of current ongoing stories. Anyone facing the same issue, please mention it on the Global announcement thread regarding the post clean-up.

I have tried to ask the remedy for this issue in the same thread and waiting for the response on the same.

For every post you can see an 'attachment' or 'pin' like icon to the left of the Report button (on the top right side of every individual post on the thread)

1) Right Click (remember this is right click and not left click) on the Pin/attachment image like icon. (This icon appears to the left of the Report button).

2) Copy the link Address from there -- using copy link location from the browser or open it in another tab and copy the link from the address bar of the browser

3) Use this address for link of the chapter while creating the index.

4) Also give the page number along with this link for the index

true..it is disheartening, everyone has invested time and emotions into it.
they should have done it from now onward by giving clear communication about content quality etc, keeping the earlier posts as-is.

Page no.of my updates changed but it's not affecting the link. Links are working properly. Problem is with those who have written page no with the links in index

Hyperlinks are working properly..those who did not put hyperlinks and mentioned page no will have problem as no one can find the page of the update

Where the page number is used either directly or in the link - may get messed up if there are multiple post deleted in the thread. If post are not deleted then it will work fine or say if only few posts are deleted which has not shifted the chapters through pages, then it will still work fine

Post based link will work though.

however, many writers would have used Page numbers and Page number based links.

Following may not work (if posts are deleted in the thread and if chapters are shifted through pages)

Chapter 10 - Page 84

Chapter 11 - Page 92


Following Page based links also may not work because it contains page number in the link.
The TPN=2 part in the link is actually the page number 2
