arnav geet too much into taking revenge on maan.they will regret badly.though arnav is a new generation boy who doesnt want to get married soon but geet is advising him to get hitched up.nice.khushi is nervous to meet geet n arnav is supporting her.nice,but shocking that geet rejected khushi.is it bcz she came to know that khushi is maan's sis or something else?

so geet get to knw about khushis family n stopping d marriage...whts going to happen nw...

CHAPTER 6. PRELUDE TO THE PAST

Previously on Junoon...

Few hours later in Arnav's room, after Geet and Khushi met and Khushi took leave to go back home...

"I reject this girl! This girl cannot be your bride! I refuse to accept her and order you to cease any and every ties with her!, Geet announced and Arnav stood stock still.

"But why?, Arnav asked confused.

Geet glared at him as she stood at the door of his room, "Because I said so!

She turned around and stormed away as Arnav stared at her aghast.

Why? Why was his sister rejecting Khushi now? Especially now when it was obvious that she liked Khushi before! Infact, she was the one who wanted them to marry soon. She was the one who began the talk, for God's sake! And now she is against it, why? Arnav had to know. He was about to start to march after his sister when his phone rang. He check the screen and he felt his heart stop. It was Khushi! What should I tell her? He swallowed thickly and picked up the call.

"Hello! Khushi!, his voice, few tones down, a little nervous and hesitant.

Luckily for Arnav, Khushi didn't notice it, most probably because she herself was nervous, "Hello! Arnav! What did your sister say? Did she like me? She is ok with me, right? When we spoke, she sounded so loving and sweet that I think she likes me but I don't know why, I feel nervous. I have this bad feeling in my stomach, I am so scared! Tell me Arnav, everything is ok, right? Why aren't you speaking?

Arnav took in a deep breath and masked all his feelings and acted as if nothing was wrong, "Excuse me! I will speak, only if you allow me to speak, right?

"Oh!, Khushi giggled nervously, "Sorry! I am just so nervous!

"Don't be nervous!, Arnav cut her off, "Don't! I will make sure everything is alright!

"You are not lying to me, right? Nothing is wrong, right?, Khushi questioned him.

Arnav sighed, "Yes! Everything will be alright! Trust me!

Khushi mumbled ok and Arnav said some excuse about work and cut the phone. As he stared towards the door of his room where his sister vanished few minutes ago, he mumbled his own words, trying to give himself comfort, "Everything will be alright!

Geet stormed into her room and opened her cupboard roughly. She pulled all the clothes and accessories out of it till one whole shelf was empty and one photo lie on the shelf, face down. She picked it up and turned it around. It was her and Maan's photo at some garden. She glared at the photo. That was the only photo of hers and Maan's that she kept with her. Rest were burned years back. She kept this one though, to show herself how good Maan was at fooling people. But today for once she didn't remove the photo to glare at Maan's face. Today she removed it to see someone else. She looked through the photo and saw those two faces right behind Maan in the background. Arnav was pushing a small girl on a swing. The boy seemed to have just entered the teen years and the girl was still a child. After so many years, she was seeing the faces in the background, till today the both of them pushed out of her mind to focus on Maan.

As Geet stared, right behind her Arnav entered the room, "Di!

Geet stiffened but didn't react.

Arnav felt his anger build up at his sister's non reaction.

"DI!, he roared and Geet whirled around, her eyes glaring at him, as if asking him how did he dare to raise her voice at her.

Arnav ignored her glare and stormed towards her, "Tell me Di! Give me one reason!

"For what?, Geet glared back.

"One reason for rejecting Khushi!, Arnav said quietly, "What is wrong with her? Is she of bad character? Does she have any illness? Bad manners? Cruelty in her nature? WHAT? What. Is. Her. Problem?, Arnav questioned.

Geet smirked mirthlessly, "Her brother killed your father!

Arnav staggered back in shock.

Geet looked at him victoriously, "Is that reason enough?

Arnav continued to stumble back till his legs hit the bed and he fell down on the bed.

"Her brother..., Arnav stuttered.

Geet nodded, fire still in her eyes, "Yes! Her brother, Maan Singh Khurana!

Arnav stood up in shock, "She is...

"Yes!, Geet nodded as she headed towards him, "She is Maan Singh Khurana's sister, Khushi! And this is why I rejected her! If she had been someone else's sister, I would have accepted her even if she was cruel, had bad manners or was mentally sick!, she snarled as she stared into his eyes.

She threw the photo in her hand right on Arnav's face. It slipped down his face and Arnav grabbed it. He turned it around and his eyes widened. It was a picture of Maan Singh Khurana with his sister but that was not what shocked him. It was the two kids behind Maan. It was him, Arnav, pushing a kid on a swing. That was Khushi? He couldn't believe it. Then a vague memory came to him.

"You monkey!

"You chipmunk!

"You lizard!

"You squirrel!

"You crazy!

"You silly!

"Wait! Wait! Wait! Why are you two fighting?, Geet asked as she separated 13 year old Arnav and 10 year old Khushi, who were grabbing each other's hair and tugging it roughly. Both of them had met each other for the first time and were quite friendly with each other, so Geet and Maan had left them on the swings to spend some time to talk to each other alone.. By the time Maan and Geet took some pictures and bought some candy floss, the two had started fighting.

Arnav glared at the two plaited girl, "She said that once you got married to Maan, you will leave us and live with her!

"She wasn't wrong!, Maan butted in and Geet and Arnav both turned and glared at him. Maan raised his hand in surrendering gesture and stepped away. Geet turned to Arnav and cupped his face, "I am sorry, kiddo! But she is right!

"What? But you cannot leave me!, Arnav whined as he lunged forward and hugged his Di. It took her almost an hour to placate Arnav by promising him that they would meet every other day.

"Ok!, Arnav nodded, "But whenever you come to meet me, don't bring this chipmunk with you!

"Don't call me chipmunk!, Khushi snarled.

"Or what?, Arnav roared.

Next thing everyone knew, Arnav and Khushi were being held back by Maan and Geet as both kids tried to lunge towards each other trying to fight. Suffice to say, that was the last time Maan and Geet brought Arnav and Khushi with them when they met and that was the first and only meeting of Arnav and Khushi as kids.

"Chipmunk!, Arnav whispered as he stared at the photo. He couldn't believe that the girl he fought with so ages ago was the girl he was in love with now. He came out of his thoughts and looked around. His sister was not around. He ran out of the room searching for her.

"Di!, Arnav mumbled as he finally found his sister. She was in the terrace lawn, sitting in a wicker chair, staring up at the sky.

Arnav closed his eyes in hesitation but that moment passed and when he opened his eyes, there was determination in his eyes. Gone was the crazy in love Arnav. Here was ASR, the young business tycoon. He strode towards his sister and kneeled down beside her. He placed his hand on hers and she turned to look at him. For years, Arnav had seen pain in her eyes. But today, it seemed somewhat acute. He looked at her with compassion in his eyes, "Di! For years, I did as you asked. I followed each of your orders without a single question. I aimed to please you and couldn't handle you being disappointed. I never let you down once, Di! Not even once! And this time also I won't let you down!

Geet blinked and cupped Arnav's face gently. Arnav continued to speak, "If you want, I will even leave Khushi! Geet's eyes watered as she looked at her brother. Arnav smiled sadly, "Anything for you, Di! But you have to give me a valid reason for it! Geet frowned in confusion and Arnav explained, "You have to tell me the story of your and my past! Geet's eyes widened and Arnav hastened to explain, "My brain accepts your words, Di! But my heart...

Arnav looked down in pain and his sister gently lifted his face. She looked into his eyes. Arnav felt as if she was looking into his soul and did not blink. Then Geet smiled sadly, "Come! I will tell you everything!

"Khushi! Why are you looking so worried?

Khushi whirled around to see Maan standing there. She was in her room pacing, worried about the outcome of Geet and her meet. She knew his sister liked her. Arnav told her so. Geet told her too the moment they met. Then why was this fear in her heart?

"Nothing, Bhai! Just..., Khushi shrugged and looked down. She didn't want her brother to see her eyes. Her eyes were the windows to her soul, her Bhai used to say. They never lied, he used to inform her. She never was able to hide anything from him as long as he looked into her eyes.

"Who is the boy?, Maan questioned and Khushi's eyes widened and she looked at him.

"What?, Maan smirked.

"Bhai!, Khushi gasped out, unable to say anything.

Maan let out a laugh, "You young people! Think it is so easy to hide things from us! He stepped into the room and leisurely walked to his sister, "You need to stop underestimating me, young lady! I have known you since you were a child! I have practically raised you! I know everything about you; when you are happy, when you are sad! And recently when you are in love!

Khushi blushed.

Maan reached her and cupped her face, "So tell me, who is he?

Khushi shyly looked down. She was too embarrassed to say anything.

Maan chuckled, "Ok! Fine! Don't tell me his name! But atleast tell me, does he make you happy?

Khushi nodded, her head still down, "Very!

"And? What are his intentions?, Maan slowly coaxed.

Khushi looked at him and frowned, "Intentions?

Maan explained, "Are there marriage on the cards or is it just a passing thing for him?

"No! No! Not a fling!, Khushi hastened to explain, not wanting her brother to have a wrong impression about Arnav, "He wants to marry me! Infact, today I went to meet his sister so that she would approve me! That's why I am so worried, Bhai! He said she liked me! But what if I am rejected? Khushi worriedly looked at her brother.

Maan chuckled, "As if anyone would reject my Darling! You are perfect! Who wouldn't want you in their family?

Khushi huffed, "You are saying that just because I am your baby sis!

Maan shook his head, "Ok! When tomorrow she will accept you and come here asking for your hand, then I will tell you, I told you so! He playfully tweaked her nose and she giggled.

"Bhai! You are the best!, Khushi announced and hugged her brother. Maan hugged her back and let out a sigh of relief. Khushi closed her eyes as she took in the comfort her brother provided her. Suddenly her brother blurted out, "Hey! How come you never brought your boyfriend to me for approval? Khushi's eyes popped open and she winced. Maan pulled her back and glared at her. Khushi looked at him sheepishly, "Oops! Maan narrowed his eyes, "I want to meet this guy, tomorrow! Khushi nodded worriedly. Then Maan grinned and Khushi grinned back.

"You are the best brother ever!, she announced as she dove back into their hug. He tightened his arms around her as a single tear leaked out of his eyes. His sister was going to get married soon and leave him!

I know! I know! I promised to take you to the flashback in this chapter!

But what could I have done? Arnav Khushi demanded one more scene before I whisked you all away from them and into Maaneet's love story!
