CHAPTER 14
"Thank goodness it's over," Dhruv said with a yawn.
"Seriously, it was so boring. Except the food, kuch bhi acha nahi tha," Adi added his bit.
"Mr Aditya, being a senior accountant of the company, you are not supposed to talk like this... especially to these interns," Sasha said in a bitter tone, still furious about the last day's happenings.
"Toh aap hi batayie, kaise baat karna chahiye Sasha Ma'am," Jiya was quick to reply.
"You..."
"Guys please!!! Don't you think we should rather head to the hotel? I mean we have a party to attend, remember!!!" Adi said in his referee-mode. He was well acquainted to Sasha's anger and didn't want anyone to suffer the brunt.
"That's all very fine Adi, but where's Geet?" Dhruv enquired not finding her.
"Geet already chali gayi, I forgot to tell," Jiya replied.
"Chali gayi???? Par kaise, she is unknow to all these places here."
"Ah don't worry. I mean Maan hai uske saath," she emphasised well on the name wanting to burn Sasha a bit more.
"Whaaat????!!!!"

"Yeh kya baat huwi??? Mujhe sab ke saath wapas kyun nahi jaane diya?" Geet questioned as they say around a table in a coffee shop.
"I've been wanting to talk to you since last night Geet, but you were always with someone or the other. Issiliye," he replied apologetically.
"Hmmm. Kahiye. Kya kehna tha," she again said, her eyes not moving away from her hot chocolate even once.
"I...about last night... I mean...I didn't...," he hesitated.
She could sense his embarrassment and hesitation.
"It's ok Maan," she said finally looking up. "I mean I can understand. I... You don't need to carify yourself to me," she said easing things for him.
"Chashni I... thank you... I was feeling so weird since yesterday... wondering what you might be thinking about me...I..."
She chuckled lightly.
"It's ok Maan," she said again, holding his hand that was lazily rested on the table, as a way of assuring him.
His eyes lingered on her face for a while as a smile formed on his lips.
She looked at him questioningly.
"You've changed Geet," he said in a firm voice. He remembered her as the little girl who would be indecisive at times, always ready to listen to others, more like being ordered by others and now!!!
She nodded negatively.
"Just grown up, that's it," she replied in a soft voice.
"No...You didn't just grow up," he chuckled lightly. "You've grown beautifully," he corrected her tightening her hold on his hand.
His husky yet firm tone triggered something in her insides. She wondered why. And with what emotions!!!
She just smiled back and finished her drink before they headed to the hotel.

"Stop gawking at her and making it obvious Maan," Jiya murmured in the lowest voice possible and coughed slightly to bring him out of his reverie. He gave a smile, feeling a bit awkward.
"Hmmm... You're looking pretty Geet," he couldn't prevent himself from saying and immediately moved away asking them all to come fast for he didn't want them to be late.
Geet felt the heat slowly creeping onto her cheeks hearing him but controlling herself she responded with a smile and followed Dhruv and Adi as they went out too.
A fuming Sasha was left behind with Jiya in the suite.
She moved around so much to get herself a dress with the full intention of impressing Maan but let alone complementing her, he didn't even bother to look at her. And that Geet!!!
If that was not enough, Jiya was more than ready to rub some more salt to her injury.
"You see Sasha Ma'am, less is not always more," winking at her, she made her way down to the others as well.

"Geet!!! I'm observing since the afternoon. Mujhse nazrein churaati jaarahi ho," Maan remarked as he stood besides her, bringing her a drink.
"I...nahi... I mean, aisa kuch nahi hai...woh..." she was at a loss of words. Of course she was avoiding him. All these years, she kept her emotions and feelings bottled up inside her but now, this seems beyond her control. In fact, she no longer wants to. What she wants is Maan. She had always wanted him and now even Sam was not between them then why not? To Maan, Sam was already a love, gracefully lost. Right? Or was she not? She wondered whether she should tell Maan everything. But what if he does not see her like that. You remind me of my sister Annie. These words still resonate in her ears.
And his laughter broke her chain of thoughts.
"Chill Geet!!! I was just teasing you," he assured her. "But seriously Geet, you're looking stunning today. A beauty!!!" he said with a glint in her eyes.
"Acha!!! You mean like a swan?" she questioned.
He checked her out from top to bottom as if examining her.
"Hmmm...hardly!!! A swan is not as exciting as you. You're more like a firebird, with a majestic flame that can attract any moth," he replied in all calmness, sipping his drink.
But her emotions were surging. Maan had never talked in this way to her. This side of his was new to her.
"A firebird!!! Then you should beware, less you burn yourself," she cautioned him teasingly.
"Some flames are worth being breached, no matter how fierce they might be," he said huskily, leaning a bit forward to which she instinctively drew back. The movement was so abrupt that she ended up spilling her drink on her.
Damn!!!!

"It's ok Maan, waise bhi hum kuch hi der mein jaane hi waale hain," Geet said.
"It will stain Geet. Just wash it off and dry it in the washroom. I'm waiting for you here itself," he literally ordered as he leaned against the wall in the corridor.
"Ok Sir!!!" an irritated Geet answered.

As he waited for Geet, Maan replayed the last few days' happenings in his mind Something was changing for sure. Geet...he... he had started seeing her in a different light. He was saying the truth when he told her she is a firebird. She had a flame to her, to which he felt attracted like a moth. Like he once had felt for her!!! So many things were going in his mind and then he heard someone laughing.
Surprisingly it sounded familiar. Distantly familiar. He used to hear that before. Could it...Was that... Immediately he shoot open his eyes and his gaze fell on her and him too. The one she left him for. His hands were wrapped around her waist and he was whispering something to her. It must have been amusing for she laughed at his words. He felt his eyes burning. Suddenly he felt sick. He wanted to move away from there, before she saw him. And he was about to do so when he remembered Geet. Shit!!! Geet!!! She knew she was not her sister now. What if she saw her!!! What would be her reaction.
So many things were coming to him at that moment and then her eyes met his. She saw him too. She shrugged and drew closer to her partner, purposely, to show him off. And that rubbed the wrong side of him. At the same time, Geet came out from the washroom. Her back to Sam, she didn't notice her. But she saw Maan and the change in his demeanour. He was different from what he was when she entered the washroom.
"Maan..." she softly called out to him.
Maan didn't fail to notice the curious look on Sam's face as Geet approached him. He knew he was acting impulsive but it was something he wanted to do.
"Do you trust me Geet?" he asked to which she nodded.
"Then just go with me. Please!!!" he almost pleaded.
"Maan...what..."
And he immediately drew her close to him. His hands around her waist, he bent slightly and kissed her.

A drunk Sasha almost hit the ground seeing the scene in front of her. Jiya, who had accompanied a sick Sasha to the washroom - courtesy being her countless shots of drink, couldn't believe her eyes. Like Geet, she also didn't notice Sam for she was on the other side.
Leaving Sasha's hand, she immediately took out her phone to text Vicky.
On the other hand, a slightly jealous Sam dragged her partner away not wanting to witness Maan's little scene. She had so wanted to irritate him. Somehow he appeared to be the one-woman type of man. Guess he finally managed to move on, she thought to herself. Well, none of my concern, she shrugged as she re-entered the party.

"Kiss me Geet," Maan murmured against her mouth, his lips now avid for hers. That was not what was on his mind when he asked her to go with the flow.
Geet couldn't agree more as she did the same by responding to him, her mouth opening slightly as she clung to his shirt. Her body seemed to melt against his, consumed by the fierce flame of desire he lit in her insides. At that moment, it felt that there was nothing else in the world except his lips and his body going hard against hers. Maan's shoulders hunched as the kiss deepened and then he realised what they were doing and most importantly where they were.
He immediately opened his eyes to find out that Sam was already gone. He broke the kiss abruptly and straightened himself.
Then it drawn onto Geet what they had just been up to. Red hues crept onto her cheek. She wanted him to kiss her again, and again and again, to make up for longing she felt all these years.
Maan swiftly trailed his fingers in his hair, looking everywhere except at her. Should he apologise??? Surprisingly he didn't feel bad. Should he mention about Sam??? What if she take him wrong!!!
"Geet...I..."
THUD!!!
"Help me Maan!!!" Jiya called from behind.
Both turned around hearing Jiya's voice.
What the eff!!!
Maan swore seeing Sasha on the ground, her body covered with vomit.
Great!!! What a lovely end to a lovely day!!! He thought with sarcasm.
