Chapter 22
It was a rather good three weeks, with Geet and Maan knowing each other, finding each other during dinner dates; cinema nights and coffee sprees. Anni even managed to drag him on a shopping trip, although no pushing or shoving was required. A simple 'Geet bhabhi would be there' did the trick. Geet and Maan were more open to each other, hugging and holding hands became second nature after a bit of awkwardness. Anni made sure they spent more than the necessary time together, this only equalled to a happy Geet and even happier Maan.
'What the hell is his problem?' Anni was irritated with the constant calls
'Kya hua' Maan questioned seeing the worry lines on his baby sisters forehead
'Some idiot keeps calling me, dimag karab kar raha hai. God knows how he got my number?' Anni ranted but Geet burst into bubbles of laughter, Maan who was blood shot angry a minute ago turned into a cute puppy seeing his women laugh like a care-free child. They were seated on the table enjoying their dinner and like all last week, Geet sat on one side and Anni occupied the other with Maan sitting in the middle at the head.
'It's not funny' Anni dismissed feeling infuriated now
'But his nice, his been after you for a week now. Give it a try you might like him' Geet encouraged, she wanted no one to be left in the past. Anni too deserved happiness, and now that Dev has moved back to America for good, she knew more than ever that Anni and Dev was also not meant to be. Talking about Dev, he came over and wished Geet and Maan a happy life and Anni the best before flying off never to return, well not soon anyway.
'Who is this he by the way?' Maan questioned his wife since the sister was in a foul mood, rejecting another call from her lover boy
'His a doctor, tall; dark and handsome type' she patted Maan's hands seeing it fist up, of course jealously coursing through his being hearing his wife praise another man
'Arjun is his name, he met Anni during one of Naina bhabi's appointments' Geet elaborated hoping Maan will let it be, but if she knew her husband he would call Adi any minute now to either to a background check or have his bones broken, she hoped it'll be the first. Yep Maan has changed but like previously mentioned black cannot turn to white, similarly Maan wasn't all good. Menacing and bad boy blood still ran through his veins.
'And that's why I'll never accompany Naina again' Anni seethed finally switching her phone off
'I'm not saying go out with him, but try to open up a bit Anni' Geet advised motioning Maan to join who only shrugged in response. If Anni was fine this way then he had no problems about it, he would actually love for his sister to live with him always. Or else he could always build another mansion next to his, just like he did the Outhouse for Naina.
'Could you not help me, it's good if Anni moves on' Geet reprimanded Maan, it was one of their late night walks around the mansion before Maan drops Geet to her bedroom. Things have changed but neither one had the guts to voice out further change. So for now separate bedroom, morning jog, evening stroll and late night walk was all that was on the rota, which obviously included dates and meals.
'I want Anni happy and to find true love Maan' she emphasised stilling her movements. Maan was not getting the point, if it was up to Anni she would never move on, she just needed a little push much like the one they received from Brij
'She will be I promise' Maan side hugged her and then they continued walking hand in hand until they reached Geet's room.
'Can I' he asked looking at her pouty lips making her blush, for a minute he thought she would slap the door in his face but the next she tiptoed and pursed her lips inviting him. All she left was his taking over hers, it was soft, caring and a loving kiss. One where he commanded silently and she followed.
'YIKES get a room guys' Anni screamed bringing them out of their moment, while Anni went back in forgetting why she even wanted to step out her room.
'Would you' he asked resting his forehead onto hers
'Would I what' she replied placing her hands over his heart while he pulled her closer
'Would you move into my, I mean our bedroom' he asked but seeing her response, he regretted to have mentioned the thing. Everything was perfect, they even shared their first kiss just now but he went and ruined everything. But Geet was on a different tangent, she remembered how Maan asked her to leave his bedroom on the wedding night but then now even that was replaced by this memory were he pleaded very softly to move to his. Before either one would answer or question, one of the helpers came in panicking.
'Naina ma'am met with an accident' after that there was no stopping any one of them, Geet ran to get Anni while Maan ran for the keys.
'Brij' she sobbed, her baby just vanished taking away her existence. Ever since Naina knew she was pregnant again, a hope was raised. Whether it's the first, second or the numbers after that, for a mother a miscarriage is never a good news. To know that the life you have harboured over the weeks and months is gone, kills a part within you; the same part that formed a special relationship with the child. Geet stood at the side witnessing the breakdown of a women so strong yet at this point Naina was everything but strong.
'Brij why me?' she cried out forcing Anni to take the lead
'Naina please, you have to be strong for Pari' Anni tried only to hear her sister burst into more tears, Maan embraced his sister while Geet tried to tend to her brother who was equally broken. His or hers, but a child should be the same for both the parents. The life that they wanted to celebrate was gone taking away a piece of their heart. They all felt the pain of the agonising parents whether it was Maan, Geet or Anni.
'Bhabi everything would be fine' Geet consoled
'DON'T TOUCH ME, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT' Naina shouted, the vile exterior getting the better of her. She was a lost mother, but then gain when did she ever know better.
'Jab se tum aayi ho everything has gone downhill, all we've been facing is problems. Get out of my life, just get lost' Naina cried louder making Maan flinch, he knew Naina was in pain but he just couldn't stand there hearing his little sister talk bad about his wife
'You killed my baby, I bet you've been wishing for this to happen' Naina sneered turning hysterical, human's like to point fingers. It's in the human nature, when one dies he didn't die because it was his time but because he had cancer, heart-attack or he aged. It's simple everyone needs a reason to blame something else, because somehow it eases the situation. Like how Naina blamed Geet for her miscarriage. Would it not be ideal for Naina just to accept that fact that this was meant to be, as painful as it is but wouldn't that be an better option rather than drawing out her claws to scratch out another women's heart?
'Naina enough, your hurt now but stop hurting Geet' Maan shouldered Geet trying to absorb her pain but still careful enough not to further hurt his sister.
'Wow bhai, you're a hen-pecked husband now' she retorted sarcastically shocking the occupants. Ignoring her comments Maan took Geet out since it was the best option, neither could he see his sister hurt nor Geet.
'Naina why do you have a problem with that, main bhi to joru ka ghulam hu' Brij questioned as soon as they walked out, if not now then Naina would turn acidic and Geet would have to bear the brunt
'Just shut up Brij' Naina shouted not wanting to hear any of it
'You know what Naina, it's your punishment for hurting others. How can you be happy when all your life you've hurt others with that foul mouth of yours?' Brij layered upon Naina, seeing her silent Brij finally dared to tell the truth
'Naina if I've stayed with you it's because I love you so much, and maybe that's my mistake. I should have never accepted your conditions, I left my father, my sister for you and you can't even accept them. I accepted your lifestyle, your family and tum'
'What have you ever done apart from hurt people, even Pari humari beti hasn't been spared from your plots? It's our mistake and that's why the innocent child is gone, maybe it's for the best because you can never be a good mum, it's better that it felt you before it was born' he cried stilling her movements, Brij was questioning her silent heart. Naina could live with blaming Geet but somewhere even she knew that she herself is partly to blame. After all everyone pays for their wrong-doings, maybe this was the punishment for her sin? The sin she committed with her siblings of ruining Geet. Anni silently exited the room leaving Brij and Naina to sort out their differences, she only hoped it'll get better. With fireworks rocketing, the tension within their relationship would hopefully burn into ashes making Naina and Brij's marriage stronger.
'Hello Angel' Arjun caught the sight of Anni and rushed towards the restaurant wanting to meet the girl who ruled his world ever since he saw her
'Yeah hi' came the silent response
'Tum teek ho' and with that Anni broke into a cry telling him about Naina's miscarriage
'Everything will be good trust me, good things happen to good people' he smiled trying to make her feel better
'My bhabi always says that' she finally smiled
'Well she's a clever women then, just like me' he joked fanning himself
'You're a women' she laughed hard, everything in her world just seemed to disappear, the pain; the tension; the problems with him around.
'Thank you Arjun' she smiled walking down the corridor with him, Arjun wanted to meet Naina to make her feel better but when they walked in they saw the couple cuddled up crying
'We'll come back later' Anni quickly shot but Naina refused passing over a smile to Arjun, Anni then introduced him to the them making Naina to forget her pain for a while. If anything Naina was Anni's mother and to finally see that spark in Anni's eye covered Naina's pain to an extent. Plus something in her changed, the part which wanted to be a better person for Brij and their daughter Pari. Being a mother truly overrules the being, and Naina was just reminded that with this experience. Sometimes you lose something precious to gain something that's priceless like Naina's awareness that was dimmed by life and its experiences. Finally knowing that she isn't someone special and merely a human woke her heart, the heart that was is coma. But the same heart knew how to love, selflessly love her baby sister; her brother; her daughter and her husband.
'Geet I'm sorry' Maan spoke while walking back to the hospital ward where Naina was placed. After the incident Maan took Geet home but she wanted to be alone and Maan obeyed her command like be promised to do.
'Why? Naina Bhabi was in pain and people speak nonsense at that time anyway' she smiled thrusting her hand in his
'So you're not upset?' he questioned stopping midway to look into her eyes which shined telling him the same
'No, why should I be? She's family, you can't choose them' she joked pulling him along, Geet was hurt but she had her a caring husband and for him she tried to appear normal
'Maan do you think Naina bhabi will be Ok' she asked before turning the corner
'Naina always wanted to be the best mother' he being the brother knew more about his sisters, and their fight. Like how Naina craved to be the ideal mother unlike their real mother. But in her aspiration to be Anni's mother she forget the difference between right and wrong for a while.
But when they walked in, they saw Naina smiling and laughing. She was only trying to be normal and they wanted to support that. Arjun was welcomed by Maan seeing how comfortable Anni was around him
'Geet bhabhi I'm sorry' she stated solemnly in front of all asking for the women she hated to forgive her and in return Geet just engulfed her saying everything would be perfect from now onwards. Everyone else just smiled truly believing her words, what more could happe? Now that they were one big happy family, even pain would think twice before hunting down their address, well so it should be. After all they all faced their share of pain, shouldn't happiness be their next stop?
Note: No precaps since I'm unsure but I think the next part would be the last but for that I need to start writing lol.
