Maan n geet entered Hp..she remembered the sweet memories of her past there..the farm..the animals.playing with raji..running in rivers...everything flashed in her mind..she sighed..its only now memories..she cant run now or enjoy like those days.she is married now n must behave in that way.along with that she remembered the tough times of her life..how much they suffered.how much she hated to marry..but now she is happy with her present..her maanji..she turned n looked at him..he too looked at her..their eyes met..both smiled n again did their work..

geet thought how much happy she is..in these months there is no day she was upset or sad..he took care of her..their romance..their love making..the months has passed beautifully..

Her thoughts came to halt as the car stopped..maan tapped her shoulder seeing her lost..

Maan:geetu ..we reached..

Geet:huh..haan..

She too came out ..

Tej:maa jiju aur gudia aagayi..

He rushed to both n hugged maan

Tej:how r u gudia..

She gave a cheeky smile..

Geet:bohut achi bhai..

Driver took the luggages..n maan was about to take..

Tej:jiju..u go in I ll settle ur luggages in room..

Maan:ok..

Seeing them enter , there was hustle bustle n geets darji her parents uncles n all came greeting them..it felt awkward for her..she has never received this type of welcome in her house..they are giving respect to the dadmad of house..n they saw her now as his wife..n so she got the special greetings by all... both took blessings from all elders...

The questions were nonstop..

Maan just smiled n answered them politely..while the ladies took geet with them..

Maami:geet .u look so beautiful now..

Geet blushed with the complement..

Rano:geet how r u..how is ur new place. tu khush haina..

Geet was excited seeing her mother after her marriage..

Geet:hmm.achi hoon maa.aap..

She was cut n rano bombarded her with que.

Rano:itni der kyun..haldi has finished..humari ghar ki shadhi hai..shravan ki maa bhi nehi hai..we have to help ur uncle na..kuch der pehle aa nehi sakthi tum..sab tumei poochrahi thi..kya kawab dethi mei..

She chided geet..in her position rano was right..but geet's excitement all vanished with ranos taunts..

Geet:woh.. maa..he had work na..

Mami:haan haan..ab tum tho badi ghar ki bahu ho..hum sab tho tumei dikegi kya..u will only support him..n give lame excuses..kaam tho sab ki hai..kya tumhari maamu ko nehi..hum yahaan hai dus din se..

Geet was totally in fix between these 2 ladies..she felt bad n it hurted her more..recieving taunts after long time made her feel more vulnerable..

Rano:chalo ab tayaar hoke aana..

Geet:hmm

Rano:damad ko bhi bolo..

Geet:hmm..

She went inside..tej came with luggages n found geet alone

Tej:gudia..

He was so happy seeing her.

Geet:bhaiya..

Tej looked at her from top to bottom..she was looking pretty..is it the sari or jewels adding beauty to her natural beauty..

Tej:u look more beautiful..

Geet:bhaiya..aap bhi..i m looking still same..only difference is sari..

Tej:I can see it..tumei kesa pata chalega how u look..im seeing u after so many days..so I can see the change..u r looking fair too..

Geet:woh sab chodo ..how r u bhai..mama papa..

Geet freshed up n came to hall where others were present..all womens asked the same que..about her married life, in laws ,the new place..etc...n geet answered all..

They have to go to brides home with shagun mehendi..n all girls who r married started to brides home ..including geet..

They were welcomed with respect by brides family..

Soon the mehendi function started .there were lots of friends beside shruti who were teasing her like hell ..n shruti was blushing..the womens catched up with the elder womens n started to talk..geet was with shruti..she was getting bored as she knew none there..

Soon a girl entered..geet thought she has seen her some where..

Devi..the girl she met during shravans engg. who was unmarried bcoz they were poor.n faced lots of que at that time...now she looked married..her sari n jewels she wore made geet happy..someone got a good life..thats what she thought..

Devi: shruti..for u n ur friends maa sent juice..

Shruthi:thanks devi..

Devi made her drink the juice as she had mehendi in hands..n all friends too had it..

Devi took the empty glasses n was about to go when a 16 yrs old girl came in with a small boy..

Girl:choti maa..chotu is crying to sleep..

Devi:ok..give me..i ll make him sleep.. u be with ur sisters..

Girl:ji chotima..

She gave to her the boy n went out .but the girls behaviour showed she hated devi..she was looking devi like an enemy..

Shruti:devi..yeh ..who is that girl..this boy..y she is calling u chotimaa..

Devi gave a sad smile..she sat n kept the boy on her lap n gave him the sari pallu n patted him slowly..

Even geet was curious to know..

Devi:she called me na..choti maa..wahi relation hai..

Geet:di..matlab kya hai aapka..

Devi:rishthe mei ab yeh mera beta hai aur woh meri beti..

Shruthi:she may be 16..u r only 20..yeh..kese..i mean..who is ur pati..

Even shruthi couldn't digest devi is married now..that too a man who has 16yr old girl..

Devi :ramsingh jaanthi ho na..

Shruthi:haan I have heard..he is some member of panchayat..uski 5 beti aur ek beta..

She stopped with the reality sinking in her..u mean ramsingh is ur husband..he may be in 50s..he is already married twice..his first wife too died bcoz of early pregnancy

Devi:hmm..wahi..

Shruthi's friend:devi..how can u marry an old man..he is double of ur age..u must have denied..

Devi:I cant.i couldnt is the r8 word...bcoz girls are only ordered to follow their parents words..if someone who can deny was him..if he has considered me n my age he would have stopped..but he knew it..phirbhi usnei shadhi ki..

She couldn't think how it would feel to get married to a man of 6 childrens..

Devi: haan 6..im just 4 yrs elder to his first daughter..his wife died 2 weeks before..n he couldn't take care of all childrens.noone was ready to marry him...n my mother was looking for alliance for me..we couldn't afford dowry..n broker took our situation to his favour..he showed my pic to him..he accepted to marry me without dowry..first my parents too hesitated then he promised to take care of my sisters marriages too..n I have left with no chances..atleast my sisters will get a gud life na..my mother told me to clear the path to my sisters..so I married him..kamse kam meri parivaarse ek boj tho kam hogi na..

There was silence in the room..all felt bad for her..many girls sacrifice their life like this for their family..devi is one among them..her dreams were crushed..still she was forced to accept it..

Shruthi:devi..what about ur married life..woh tho..is he ready for another child..

shruthi asked in descent manner about her maritial life..

Devi:first thing he did was to take me to dr. n do birth control operation..his first wife gave birth to dead babies n she died in one such pregnancy..then he got married again..n he got 5 girls..he want a boy..drs already warned them not to have babies..but he didn't listen..he wants a boy..when she conceived n gave birth she lost lots of blood which lead to sickness n she died..but he got a boy na..so he doesn't want any more babies.. he wants me for his pleasure.. but not any more childrens..

All gasped..

Friend:if his wife died only 15 days before..then when u got married.

Devi:a week before..

There was no tears in devi's eyes..may be it has dried up in these 7 days..

Shruthi:how could u accept it ..

Devi: kya karthi mei..noone will marry a girl for what she is..he needs money as dowry..there is nothing in me to give than my body to him..he want a girl to bed..to take care of his childrens..to cook..wash his clothes n take care of his needs..an unpaid servant ..n he married me..for others he is a man who gave me life..to a girl who cant get married..bcoz her parents couldn't afford her a good life..but ..

She stopped..may be she told more ..

The room which was full of teasings n happiness n giggles of girls before devi entered..it turned heavy..n silent..

Devi:leave it..now nothing is going to change..for all im mrs.devi ramsingh..i have got good dresses n jewels to wear..a good house to live..for them a girls happiness is that only..n im looking happy for them..

Geet:but di..woh tho zindagi nehi na..we need their love..

Devi(sarcastically) :love...I don't know that word ..n I don't think I will never get it from my husband..bcoz..love n trust is base of marriage..he lacks in both..he married me..but he doubts my age..usei dar hai mei kabhi kisi aurke saath..baag gayi tho..kya hoga uska maansamman..

Isiliye woh har waqt mujper nasar raktha hai..he keeps me held up in works or childrens..

Kaash ..he had stopped the marriage knowing my age..im younger for him.. he is of my fathers age..but he doesn't care for me n my feelings any man would stop the marriage if he comes to know about his bride is not of his age n not suitable for him.he would have left her...only if he has done it before..

The girl came in again:chotimaa babuji aapko bularahi hai..humei ghar jana hai..

The girl told n left..

Devi:they all too hate me for taking their mothers place..sirf yeh hai..chotu..he is used of his moms warmth..my sari n my jewels gives him his mothers warmth..as it belongs to her..when he grows up patha nehi he too will hate me..

Devi put the sleeping boy in shoulders n left leaving all the girls heart heavy..

Geet excused n came out..she felt very bad for devi...she saw her walking with 5 girls..their was only 3 or 4 yrs diff between all..n the man..he looked very old than she expected..the dhoti..his big specs..his half balded head.his brown teeth..he looked like a man in late 50's..they got into a car n left..

Geet heard the ladies talk..hmm devi got a good life..ghar gadi,,paisa wala pati..

Geet felt diguisted on their thoughts..being a girl how can they think its enough for a girls happiness..a girl needs love n care from her husband..nothing else..

Rano n others came out..geet lets go..its time now..go bid bye to shruthis fam n come..

Geet:ji maa..

She rushed in n bid bye to all n came out..she joined her family ..but her thoughts were around devi...she felt very bad..but couldn't do anything..she compared herself with devi..she is lucky to have a husband like maan..his love..his care..their love makings..he always made her comfortable with his presence..she has faced poverty..now the luxuries in her inlaws too..but nothing made her happy like maans love n care..how lucky she is to get maan..

All were talking about next days preparations..geet was present their physically.. they reached hp..maan was there..he saw geets sad face..he questioned her thru his eyes..how he could read her..she faked a smile n rushed in..

After the works all settled to sleep..girls in one room..n mens in other..

Geet was restless..she couldn't go n check maan.new place n to sleep in common place..will he be comfortable...in pretext of having water she left to see maan..they both have not talked after coming here too..

Tej:geet..tum yahaan..

Geet:woh..bhaiya..

Tej:kya hua..maa ne kuch kahaa..

Geet:nehi..woh..maanji..

Tej smiled..

Tej:maanji ko dekna hai..

Geet:nono..i was thinking is he comfortable in our place..wahi dekne aaya tha..usei aaadat hai extra pillows ka..n bed sheet..sab ke saath yahaan..

Tej:bas bas..he pulled her n showed man thru window..he was sleeping peacefully..

Tej:he is our damad geet..I have taken good care of jiju..so now go n sleep.

. geet blushed n went back n slept with others..

The next day all were busy running here n there..maan was trying to get glimpses of geet..but she was too busy..he had no work..or to say..all treated him specially as he is sil of house..he sat idol looking all working..n the few sat beside him was only chatting..he received a call from adi..with the sounds around he couldn't here adi's voice..

Tej:jiju..go upstairs n speak..here it will be noisy..he suggested n went inside with shoping baggages..

Maan thanked him n went upstairs..he felt relief..he was talking with adi n was walking from one corner to other..his eyes fell on geet who was carrying a plate full of flowers..she looked very beautiful ..

(When she doesn't look beautiful in his eyes).

He was drooling her n talking to adi..

Geet stopped in her tracks..as someone blocked her way..she got scared too..

Maan tried to look at person but he was behind a pillar so he couldn't c him..
