Maan, her gallant tyrant. Maan her best friend. Maan her honour. Her love...Maan

"Babaji"

She closed her eyes defeated as the realization came flooding like a bout of fresh cold air, knocking her off balance. Her knees buckled and she sunk down on the huge stone by the wall and threw her head back resting on the coldness of the stone wall.

😃 the realisation defeated her !! it removed the mist that covered her eyes for so long... Knowing the thing is different, even realising it to some extent is easy but accepting that VERY thing is the toughest part.

It was easy for Geet to accept the new found realisation but not for Maan. It somehow shows tat he was aware of his feelings towards Geet even b4 her but he never wanted to accept it, Given the responsibility and the guilt he was carrying on his shoulders. How bad was their luck that took away their happiness for 8 long years but i'm just so happy that this series is nearing the end giving back their love to each other. Back to you, back to the land of love and only love.

cant wait for next update frosty <3

Hey Guys!

Frosty saying Hi from a far off land!!!

Hahahaaa...not really; from a land of studies actually😃

Anyways; again my lame reason appears. Semester internals were held so couldnt update last week. For all it's worth, Sorry yaars!
Okay, have replied to most comments. Again, coudn't reply to all because of a pounding head and paucity of time. But please know it all you lovely commentators (if that's even a word😛) that i love, love love you'll! Please keep commenting and I will be writing.
Here you go on the week's Chapter. More angels and more present. A little bit of past...
Angel who did not love

From swirling waters,

To darker an alley consummated.

Eyes close and angels come

They don't love; yet you are not hated...

Mumbai, India;

Three weeks later...

After all these days, he still had the capacity to evoke extreme emotions in her.

After eight years of pretending to live in oblivion, she still hadn't been oblivious to him.

After eight years and three weeks of living without him, she still hadn't been able to live.

And now, at the threshold of her new life, he was coming back to her, his thoughts occupying her heart which was rightfully betrothed to Yash. But Yash was nowhere. It was only ever him.

After all, he had left her to come back to her one day. Or so he had said. He had left her to conquer world.

But had he ever come back?

Yes he had.

But now the time was not right.

She had left him for good this time, his and hers; Geet thought looking down at the drying henna on her palms. The designs, bottle green in shades were woven intricately down her palms and feet; crumbling on the creamy floor by the love seat in her bedroom where she now sat. Two days and she would be wedded. And this time, things would be in her control.

But who was she kidding? Hadn't her engagement just a month ago led to the classic week in New York? The dream filled days with Maan, the consummate business tycoon, the nightmare-haunted boy, the grey emperor, the passionate lover...Maan, the man whom she had come to see as Rohan's father.

She shook her head.

Geet struck herself with a sense of de ja vu now as her thoughts took the forbidden turn after three long weeks. She had left La Chanson that evening, left Maan and taken Rohan to her maasi's apartment in suburbs where her mother had resided. Maan had made sure to have her secured until the next evening when she had finally left the city. Geet hadn't seen but felt the constant presence of his security MIB on the watch out. But never had she seen or heard from Maan thereafter. As if he had again chosen to disappear from her line of sight.

It had been a whirlwind time ever since she had returned to Mumbai. She had wanted to get over with the wedding preparations as soon as possible, wanted to hasten the wedding with Yash because it still lay two months away. And maybe fate had planned it that way because Yash had been summoned for a three month long neuro-orthopedic workshop come January. He was meant to fly to Scotland. He was ready to give up the opportunity but Geet had stepped in.

Together with her parents and Yash's father they had pre-poned the wedding to November. Though her mother had protested, knowing the lurking currents beneath her behavior; she had kept quiet about the rendezvous in New York. The date was inauspicious; so had been reasoned by her mother when the night of Diwali was chosen for marriage.

"It's a moonless night, as it is no weddings can be taken up before Dev Diwali"

Her mumma had argued with the men; her and Yash's father who had clearly not believed in either.

"But it is the day Lord Ram returned home with Sita, isn't it? Then how can the day be inauspicious?"

Geet had cut in.

Her father had laughed and Yash's father had pated her on the head.

"Look Rano, she has become my daughter even before she marries that fool hardy doctor of mine!"

Her would be father in law had drawled.

And Geet had felt the need to cry.

Which she did even now as her mehendi dried and time waned to her wedding day which was a few days after.

"Mom"

Rohan clipped into her room with his Superman bath towel tied around his neck like a cape. Geet was reminded of exactly who had taught him to act like this Superman.

"Come here baby boy"

Geet extended her henna clad hands.

"Ewww...naa"

Rohan gave her hands a miss and settled beside her.

"I am sweeping here"

He thumped down and declared airily.

"Sleeping here"

Geet chided playfully.

"Why? Did nani get you another glass of kesar milk to drink? "

She asked knowing pretty well why her son had given his nani's bedtime stories a miss. Rohan gave a sheepish smile, caught at the little teeny-weeny bluff. Geet laughed and stood up with him to pad into the nice warm bed.

"Sleep now, come on"

She covered him with a duvet using the good pads of her fingers while stretching beside him.

"You also"

Rohan demanded.

"But I am not sleepy"

"I know a magic"

Geet chuckled as her three year old instantly scooted up and into her lap. He sat up with so much energy; she was momentarily thrown back into the head board.

"What magic?"

"To get sweepy. Arey listen naa"

"Arey Bolo naa"

Geet mimicked him.

"See you close eyes and see angel. Okay?"

"What?"

Geet was bemused, not making any head or tail of his talks.

"Uh huh! Close eyes first"

He himself covered his eyes with his hands gesturing Geet to follow. Laughing heartily, she followed; covering her henna clad palms lightly over her eyes.

"See angel now. She gives you chocolates, candies. Brings toys and lots of love...and gives kisses"

Rohan babbled as if parroting someone else's words.

"Who taught you this magic cupcake?"

She enquired playfully still in the same posture.

"Super Maan!"

Her hands slowly slid down her face as she opened her eyes.

"Super Maan"

She murmured, as if trying the perfect symphony.

"He say his name is Maan. Super Maan"

Rohan caught her hands; apparently forgotten that he detested the smell of mehendi. Geet looked down at the designs getting smudged but didn't give a damn in the world to that. She had applied the thing only for ritual's sake.

"When did he tell you this?"

Geet asked slowly.

"He tell me when we was sleeping in Merica. And listen naa"

Rohan shook her again, as her eyes wandered in the distance.

"I closed eyes and saw you mom"

Geet's gaze immediately came back to her baby boy. She smiled and kissed his cheek noisily.

"But superman says he no love."

"He no love whom?"

"He close eyes and see angel. But...but he say she not love him."

Geet's heart ripped into two, he thought she didn't love him...

Maybe that was for the best.

"So I promish my mom is angel. She will love you"

Her heart stopped.

Rohan had promised her love to Maan...Oh dear god!!!

"Okay so we both will see angels in sleep now"

Geet pulled her son down and into her arms as she closed her eyes. She didn't acknowledge the fact that she would see a gallant tyrant sweeping her off her feet, neither did she let herself believe that she would see a passionately consumed man kissing her senseless down a cold deserted by lane...But she did see an angel that night. In her sleep, in her wakefulness; until another day dawned.

----------------------------------

"Sir you will have to take off for this one!"

Adi put down his I Pad and looked at his boss; haggard and worn out after a tedious day's work.

Though the work wasn't tedious, his boss's approach towards the days lately had. Maan, who had started cutting short his office hours in the week last month had made up for every lost minute and more by practically breathing every wisp of air of his day in the headquarters of Khurana Corporations. If his employees and senior management in any way was to be sworn by, they would have corrected that to snorting. The man was acting like a bull on the leash.

Maan Singh Khurana had come back with a vengeance. To work and make work. They hadn't seen him so driven since three years when their company had expanded and gained stability with collective efforts. But now, there was a different, almost fatalistic edge to him, Adi thought with a grunt.

"I am not leaving the Polish deal."

Maan's clipped words cut through thick air conditioned room.

"But Sir"

Maan's eyes strayed up from his laptop and if that wasn't sign enough to back off, then Adi was visibly challenged. But Adi hadn't spent nine years with this volatile' Khurana to not learn and unlearn the facts of when exactly to back off and when to pursue.

"You have been working for this Maan. It was your dad's pet project"

Adi's addressal more than anything else made Maan stall for a suspended second and think. For a very long time, no one had dared address him by his name in his office. Adi too had followed the code of conduct, being staunchly professional and formal in settings that required them to be. But at the core, he was his junior from Delhi University, his friend of sorts.

"Where do they want to sign the contract?"

"Delhi"

Maan leaned back in his chair and looked out of the office building, the trampled day that appeared gloomy and cynical ever since...ever since he had started looking at it that way. Why couldn't he go to India? Just because she shared the country? Why wouldn't he go to India? It was his birthplace, his playground of memories...moreover this was his father's project which had not taken off for years. They had a chance now.

"Fine"

His eyes darted back to Adi.

----------------------------------

Two days later...

"Look who's here"

Meera announced from the door with a grin.

Geet whirled around from the huge couch where she sat perched up with her mother, a few cousins and Rohan scuttling around. It was the day before her wedding, one where Shagun had arrived from Yash's house.

"Meera!"

Geet's girlie heart went out to her friend as she scooted out to hug Meera.

"Thank you for coming Meer."

Geet whispered in Meera's ear.

"Hey! I am here."

Meera kissed Geet on her cheek and Geet sensed more than a wisp of sympathy in Meer's tone.

"And look whom I have got with me"

She announced turning to the door behind. Suddenly Geet's heart beats stalled. No. it couldn't be him. He had given up. He had gone out of her life. She herself had walked out...

"Dev"

Meera shouted since he didn't show up at the right time.

"Sorry sorry! Your bags Meer"

Dev stumbled inside with three heavy luggage bags. Barely making it inside, he dropped all except his sling leather laptop bag and smiled at Geet.

"Hey Creative director"

She smiled back.

"Hi Dev"

"You look lovely Geet. And congratulations, your gift is in one of these bags though; if Meera hasn't yet again stuffed them!"

"Thank you"

Geet chuckled as Meera elbowed him.

"Thank god you are here Meera. Now we have all of Geet's friends."

Rano said walking towards them with a butler in tow who carried water and welcome drinks.

"Oh aunty! How could we miss it? Where's Pinky?"

"She came by early morning. Her baby girl is still so young you see, so she went back. She will come back in the evening for Sangeet"

Rano answered handing them each a drink.

"Oh by the way aunty this is Dev Khurana."

Rano's smile lighted up at the tall handsome man with nerd spectacle glasses and the to-die-for Khurana good looks.

"Oh the handsome man to win my beautiful Meera over!"

Rano lighted up.

Dev grinned in return and eyed Meera up and down before turning to Rano.

"Not as beautiful as you!"

He drawled taking her hand and kissing it. And for once Geet was stunned to see her mother's cheeks bloom. But then, knowing Dev; he could charm and win over any female, any age, he wanted.

"Come I will get your luggage settled first. Meera, it's the guest room up on the left. You remember naa?"

Rano asked.

"Off course yes. All our pajama parties were held there!"

She winked at Geet.

"But"

Rano commanded pointedly to Meera.

"You are sleeping in Geet's room"

Meera looked sheepishly at Dev and chuckled. Then nodded her head. They saw Rano disappear with the butler carrying their luggage into the room upstairs the duplex flat.

"Mom I not wear this"

Rohan pushed himself through people gathered around Geet and held up a little piece of sherwani.

"Awww little prince! Come here"

Meera bent down to collect Rohan in her arms.

"Not pwince. I'm Champ"

Rohan told wriggling out of Meera's grasp.

"Who you"

The little boy looked up at his mother and Geet smiled down at him.

"She is your Meer aunt. Remember the stories mom tells you about so many friends and mom's bestest friend?"

"Yes"

"And I last saw you when you were such a teeny-weenie baby you know?"

Meera made a hand gesture with her thumb and index finger.

"And now look at you. Big boy!"

Rohan grinned, his extrovert nature making him the centre of attraction even in a group of strangers.

"And someone told me you love Superman. Who told me...hmmm?"

Dev pretended to think, playing the trump card. Geet's smile suddenly faded at the mention of that someone.'

"Mom"

Rohan declared airily.

"Naa"

Dev mused.

"Someone else...who? who??"

"Oh hoo"

Rohan slapped his head.

"Super Maan tell you. He likes superman"

"Oh! Yes Smartie! And he has sent you something"

Dev swooped Rohan up in a smooth motion.

"Uhh...Meera, Dev why don't you guys freshen up?"

Geet asked.

"Oh no Geet, we are all fresh. Come let's see your lehenga"

Meera pulled Geet towards the circle of friends and family while she saw Dev disappear with Rohan into the room where their luggage was taken.

His taste still bloomed in her mouth, the feel of his stubble still brushed her cheek; she could feel his warm hand wrapped around her waist and his fingers entangled in her hair. It was all so real, so continuous...A lingering reality that she had experienced since last night.

Like the perfect gallant gentleman he had dropped her home, making sure she reached her house and gave him a call before he sped his car from outside her gates. She had seen his car speed off into the gentle dark slopes of Pali Hill. Like a black hound into the dungeons; it had raced out of illumination. Geet had stood there, in her eerily silent house, disoriented out of the nightmare that looked like a dream.

And it indeed was a dream, she realized now. A beautiful miracle that had wiped off any humility of the assault which had led them here. Initially she had been scared, completely out of wits this morning and poured it all out to Naina. Her mother was out on a business tour which her father couldn't take. Her father was a busy man. Geet had prevented bothering him, especially after reading the day's newspaper which featured a front-page story on the massive raid. She had frantically searched for any mention of her name but then realized she wasn't in any way involved. Especially after getting the idea of exactly who was behind this raid, Geet was sure he would protect her honour. After all he was her honour.

She smiled to herself again and again this afternoon.

She had missed college, not out of fear or anxiety. No. She was a fighter. One groping hand, a stenched drunkard perpetrator could not dim her lights. But today she just wanted to stay home and ponder over her relationship with Maan. Retrospect and Introspect. He was the unattainable, she felt sometimes. At others she thought he was all hers. Only hers.

"Let's count his negatives"

She blabbered to herself playfully.

1. He is a Gallant tyrant...chalega

2. So damn stubborn...But then even I am equally intimidating...chalega

3. Extra mature...But that makes him hot!...chalega

4. Short tempered...But then it's fun to see him say Sorry...chalega

5. Devilishly good looking...He should be banned from public eye (those college senior bimbos who flirt and climb upon him like creepers)

6. Kisses like a dream...Such kisses can drive a woman to hell Oh!...But I am not complaining. Chalega!

7. Dances like a storm in confines...She recalled the exact moves they had sizzled to at Samar's party. Oh it was hot and sensuous...If those moves are only for me, then chalega!

Looks at me as if I am all that exists in his eye.

Her cheeks reddened and the grin which had widened with every previous point ticked vaporized into a serene smile. This was what had made her fall in love. The way he had looked at her.

Since that first day by the river when his eyes had bore into hers, as if she was her savior and not the other way round. As if she was his plank in a drowning river, as if the devastation would turn back into wholesomeness if they united! From those swirling waters of indifference to this consummate alley of love, they had indeed come a long way.

Whenever his head turned in a room full of people and his eyes collided with hers, there would inevitably be a flicker, one that would prove to her that she was the only one. Only one for him. That his eyes would only ever contain her.

That had made her love him.

Precap:

"Geet"

He said without turning and gulped.

She could clearly see him swallowing back the expression he would have otherwise abandoned. And that was the moment she understood she had to let go. That was the breeze which told her that he was but a fistful of storm that had swirled her world around for a period and was on the verge of extinguishing in its wake now. That was the precise moment when she accepted the selflessness that came with her realization of love...That was the look of his, a brown eyed strong man who had evolved with her down their way; who had to now take his own way.

"Geet I'm..."

"Shhh"

She hugged him.

He was taken aback.

Maan stumbled behind to support the backs of his knees on the black stone and then he wrapped his arms around her petite frame like she was the ultimate destination of the parched man he was. Sadly, he knew that the journey of thirst, of this parched man had only begun...

So that's that for now! A long, almost 3000 wordlings update it was😳

Now make me happy-happy and line up the thread with your yummy LIKES and COMMENTS please!

Until next update
