Part 76
Jagan watched Maan for a moment accompanied in disbelief. Maan was determined. No touch guilt like wouldn't have done anything wrong.
"Maan do you know what you said? It can't be possible" Jagan tried to keep voice in control.
Maan closed his eyes. He know what he was asking was hopeless yet he was like forced to demand it. He couldn't have accepted the extend of her suffering neither of his. He turned removing attention from Jagan. At front Maan saw Geet through slightly opened door. She was sleeping. So silent and comely like a child. He couldn't take his eyes off from her nor from the wish of watching her like this same for years. Geet was completing this home. His house. He couldn't let this place desolate once again.
"I'm sorry uncle. I know what I said is not so right but it's not wrong either' he turned toward Jagan. "You himself has said you agree of whatever relation we share then why can't we be together when she needs me and I her"
"And Mohan?' He replied silently. "Will you be happy to keep a father away from the wish he does for his daughter? Is his words are nothing for you Maan?" He waited for a moment. "Maan I know you care for her and so Mohan does. I already told you he's not against of you but the position you share in this society. You have to prove him son that you can remove this gap. I know it may take time but I know well.. You can do it as well"
Maan was soundless but it was visible that he was trying hard to control the torment. He knew what was right but he was helpless. He felt so weak that was unable to keep fear away of her losing. No one knew what he knew that his family wouldn't accept for this marriage and no way could he keep the dream away from his eyes which he sees for Geet. His incapacity had turned into fear and this fear which he couldn't show to anyone, gradually started shadowing into violence of emotions. The challenge to prove himself for everything, before everyone, hollowed his heart. "Why should I need to prove anyone haan!!!. It will be my choice only not of anyone else damn!! Why all want to see my ability to prove their wish only on their own term. Why can't they how much I need her and she needs me!!'' he mentally shouted.
His nerves were stressed and tight and his eyes were dark. Dark like a winter night with no moon on sky. No path was visible for a stranger to where to go and everywhere seemed, blank.
"Answer Maan. Do you think his words are nothing? His dream and wish for Geet is nothing. What he thinks is wrong and rubbish?" Jagan spoke anticipated and watching Maan's behavior.
"No" Maan turned to him. "I'm sorry. I was wrong. I just want her well-being and happiness" Maan controlled his condition.
"And she will find it Maan" Jagan touched his shoulder. "I know you'll make her life happy and peaceful. I know it may take time but then it'll stay for lifetime. My blessing are with you son"
Maan nodded but remained mute. "I go and bring her"
"I wait outside for you both" Jagan left. Maan went in to Geet, stared her laying steadily. She was seemed smiling in her dream which made his smile too. He sat next to her stroking her hairs.
"Geet" bending over her face Maan whispered. He caressed his lips over her forehead yet repeating his mild call but she was in deep slumber.
"Geet open eyes" he patted and rubbed thumb on her cheek. Her skin was warm and comely. He brushed lips on her cheek. "Geet.. wake up Angel"
Geet awoke. Blinked eyes for a moment then to understand where she was. Her eyes narrowed looking Maan over an inch away and then the surround. She remembered she was not in her room but it was Maan house and he was very near. His eyes appeared different. They were captive, intense and dark. But Why!
"Where is uncle?'' She tried to sit up rolling the cover over from her legs.
"He left" Maan answered.
"Left! Without taking me?" she wondered. She stirred to stand up. "I should also go now. Baba must be waiting. He is alone"
"And me Geet"
She stopped on half way of putting on her sleepers and looked him.
"Am I not alone? Do I not need you Geet?'' Maan decreased the distance. "Answer Geet, do I not need you to be here. Do I not alone? Do you not care about me?"
"Maan..'' Geet sensed he was different. His voice was altered. There was shake in it. His eyes were burning red. "Maan what are you saying. You know I care for you. I promise I'll take care of me. Will not be ill again, I swear. Please let me go" she thought her being unhealthy was the reason of his worry. She promised will be fine and hurried to door.
"You'll not leave from here!"
His sound hit the walls and came back to her with a gush of surprise. She turned back. He was at his place as before but his body was rigid. He was breathing hard and his nostrils were fluttering. "You're frightening me Maan" Geet spoke timidly. Her weak body felt chill.
Maan closed eyes. He increased pressure on his fist to decrease the turmoil. His knuckles turned white in term but he was scaring her. "I can't do this to her" his mind whispered. "Uncle is waiting you in taxi. Leave" He spoke and then silence enclosed them.
"Maan.. ' She walked toward him in concern. "No.. Just leave Geet otherwise I will fright you again. Just leave"
Yet she was stood on door, holding the knob and observing him. Her eyes glittered. "Will you be okay?"
"If I'm not will you stay here Geet" he sought her eyes, though knowing the answer he expected for a miracle. Geet was silent. She knew she can't. She had responsibilities even if it was killer. She shook head in helplessness.
"I knew. Now go, uncle must be afraid for you.. for your health' he smiled croakily. She had no choice. She left heartlessly.
"I hate you Geet!!!!" Maan had went mad at the next moment. He thrashed the flower pot with one hit of his hand and it broke into pieces falling on to floor. He crushed those innocent flowers under his shoes, hitting them, smashing them mercilessly. He was upset and downfallen. He picked up the paperweight and throw on to the mirror hanging at the front and it scattered everywhere on to ground. His reflection splatted into millions bits same like his destroyed dreams, his wishes, his hopes. They were nothing in this world. Like a unwanted dirt his wishes had been demolishing by everyone. They were none. None for Geet even.
"She doesn't like me, doesn't love me. She don't!!!" he yelled. He pushed hair back. His hand were sweating in the chill of air-conditioner. His cheekbones were flickering. His eyes were violent and his body was giving up. He felt powerless. He fell on his knee and crushed hairs into fists. He had aim to hurt himself but the pain felt less. Banging the fist on the wooden stool it even couldn't bring out much blood as he wished to feel. He watched the broken mirror. Glass appeared sharp and edgy. He smiled. His eyes gleamed like was found the best choice for hurting his body and aching heart. It will lessen the pain for sure. He lifted the broken-glass and crushed in fist. It was soothing. So relaxing that he felt blankness around. His mind felt vacuum and he fell on ground hoping for a peaceful sleep tonight.

A happy laugh sounded in air halting the words Ravi Singhania was bringing out of mouth. He was indeed very happy and satisfied. He had gotten his big share in the project Yash Khurana had promised him. He put down the phone a minute before, informing the grandfather that his grandson not only owned the bankrupt company but also agreed on the proposal of shutting down all its branches as he had advised him. That mean, the beginning of distortion has started. Mohan handa and his daughter should taste the dirt of road, he will keep it sure, he promised.
Today for the first time he had felt a satisfaction in Yash's voice and the charm he would try to keep it maintain for further also. He had gotten a hen with golden eggs and will keep her safe for ever until could take advantage and after, "she will be killed. Like before...". He lifted his wine glass and removed the thirst of dried throat and laughed again.
