for free transform, u select a pic and click ctrl+T and right click there you will see many options, usme warp option bhi hai check that and you can flip pics horizontally or vertically and many other things..have a look

ek toh on a background you can adjust the pics and the other way is on a pic you can use a background...in the second case, opacity and fill options can be useful
