Geet rushed out of the cab in a hurry. She couldn't bear to be away from her little Ami anymore. She hit the bell again and again.

Pinky opened the door, " uffo Geet aa rhi hu na. I'm not slim like you ki bhaag ke door khol du aur aisi kya tufaan he bahar?"

Geet : tufaan bahar nhi Pinky andar hi to he.

Pinky smiled and hugged Geet.

Pinky : sambhal jao so rhi he.

Geet : is waqt? Jet lag mujhe he ya usey?

Pinky : kuch mat puch yaar(yawns..) raat bhar na khudh soyi aur na hume soney diya. Tere bina bechari ko neend hi nhi aa rhi thi.

Geet : babaji!! Ro rhi thi kya? Tum logo ko bohat pareshan kiya?

Pinky : nhi re wo hume stories bata rhi thi aur hum usey. Lekin ha uskey stories humse better the.

Geet : acha. Kya stories?

Pinky : apney superdad ki stories.

Geet's face fell. Pinky smiled compassionately

Pinky : hats off Geet! Pata he Ami ki baato se lagta hi nhi ki.. I mean the way she talks no one can find out that her dad is not in her life. I'm a single child and I live with my dad even today. Lookin at Ami i feel like she lives with her dad! It's all because of you. You kept the image of her dad so clearly in her mind that she believes he exists. I mean yeha to kaafi logo ko nhi pata that you are single. They think your hubby is in India. Kal mall me Mrs. Sweety ne pucha to Ami ne yehi bola.

Geet : Ami misses her dad a lot. I try to cover up but Ican't manage. When she asked me about her dad I didn't know what to say. And then she herself made this story that her papa is busy in India.

Pinky : stories me itna interest. Badi hoke pakka script writer banegi.

Geet laughed, " script se yaad aya wo Alan ko inform kiya tha about the blue prints?"

Pinky : called him twice yaar. He s not picking up.the phone.

Geet : great!! Ramona wants to see the design today evening. She will kill me. Guess I would have to meet him in person. Lekin Ami? I promised her an outing today as a compensation. Kal se hi to join karna he.

Pinky : don't worry I will send Manisha. He will do that.

Geet : ok

She went to the bedroom to see her princess having a sound sleep. She lied next to her and caressed her face. Ami smiled in her sleep. Geet kept watching her. She felt she could sit like that for years.

Geet : how I wish you really meet your super dad. But fate has taken that away from you and me. I am sorry Ami..

She kissed her on her forehead.

KHURANA HAWELI :

Maan sat near dadima holding her for about an hour. He left her room only after he made sure that dadi is asleep.

The rest of the family had gathered in the living room. NT and Dev were sitting quietly. NT looked upset that dadi recovered so quickly. She still would have to be the obedient bahu, crap!!

Annie and Vicky looked genuinely happy at the turn of events. Pari joined them.

Vicky : dadima theek ho gayi he. We should celebrate this. Wat do you say guys?

Annie : I'm in. Bhabhi ap?

Pari : umm..yeah i would be happy but I don't know if that is possible.

Annie : kyu bhabhi?

Pari : dadima abhi just recover kar rhi he. I don't know how she will take if we say this

Vicky : don't worry about that. I will manage that.

Pari smiled. Annie hugged Vicky sideways.

Just then Maan came there.

Maan : Pari I need to talk to you. Upar ao

NT's eyes gleamed.

NT : kya baat he Maan Veerji..aj to apsey raha nhi ja rha apni biwi se dur. Lagta he ishq ka bhut utar gaya inke sir se.

Maan shouted, "Nain Tara!!! Agar apni had me rehna nhi janti to meri ankho ke samne aney ki galti bhi mat karna"

Maan left for upstairs. Pari followed him quietly as NT stood there, her face flushed with embarrassment.

Maan stood in his room lost in his thoughts. Pari stood at the entrance and knocked the door.

Maan : andar ao.

Pari : apko kuch baat karni thi.

Maan : hmm.. I was saying ki humare beech jo kuch bhi problems he...usey kuch din ke liye thoda side me rakhna. I mean..don't make it obvious in front of dadima. We can sort it out later when she gets well. Give her some time.

Pari : I know Maan. I can understand. She important for me too. Whatever happened between us remains with us. She should not suffer. I will take care of that.

Maan : Thank You

Maan left the room. Annie was hearing all this. She sighed feeling relieved that her bhai was atleast being sensible. She had came there in the fear that a fight might broke between Pari bhabi and bhai. She couldn't help but smile about the way Maan snapped at NT. That was the way with him. He would never tolerate anyone speaking anything against his relation with Geet. Annie remembered the very first day when she described Geet as a cheap doll sitting on her bhai's lap.

Maan : Geet! The girl who came with dadi just now?

Annie : ha bhai.

Maan : Annie ye galat baat he. You should not talk about any one like that. Aur wo tumse badi he na?

Annie : bohat badi dadima ne bataya wo 8th me he.

Maan : dekha to abse ap unka mazak nhi banogi ok?

Annie : ok bhai.

She promised. Dev laughed at Annie's plight.

Maan : aur Dev tum bhi

Dev imitated Annie, " ok bhai"

Annie : dekho na bhai

Maan : ye ladka kabhi nhi sudhrega. Waise apke teesrey bhai kaha he?

Annie (giggling): Vicky bhai? as always dinner ke baad DJ ( Pammy dai-jaan) se ladke kisi koney me pade hongey.

Maan : not again..

Annie : I'm telling you bhai ye sab nataunki he. He wants to sleep with you. Uskey bahane he. Darpok bhai!! Mujse bade he lekin akele nhi sotey.

Maan : acha ab ap jakey so jao. Me jakey apke bhai ko leke ata hu.

Next morning,

Geet woke up early in the morning and came to the mansion to help Pammy. She was surprised to see the preparations for the kids. There were different kinds of health drinks for each one of them and different kinds of breakfast for all, many of them she hadn't even heard before. None of them ate parathas while back in Hoshiarpur, they made the same kind of parathas for everyone. Geet and her family had to wait after all of them had finished their breakfast.

Pammy : Geet ye black coffee jakey Maan ko deke ana. Me inka lunch pack kar deti hu.

Geet : ji. Lekin mene to unhe kabhi dekha hi nhi he.

Pammy : arey upar daye taraf se dusra karma he. Jaldi jakey de do. Maan ko coffee bilkul garam chahiye.

Geet nodded and left the kitchen.

Geet (self-talk) : babaji yeha akey masi ne ye pehla kaam diya he. Please kuch galat mat hone dena. Aur jitna mene suna he ye Maan to ek dam dusht daanav lagte he. Apki bachi ki rakshna karna ap..theek he?

Geet reached Maan's room. She knocked at the door but there was no response. Maan was studying in the balcony with headphones on his ears. Geet opened the door and entered inside. She saw a little boy sleeping on the bed. Geet didn't expect this. The Maan Singh Khurana of whom she had heard so much about was actually a small kid almost of her age or even younger than her. She gained her confidence and tried to woke up 'Maan'. It was actually Vicky who slept with Maan the previous night. Pammy didn't knw about this. So she didn't tell Geet anything about it or as a matter of fact she didn't even talk aboutVicky to her. So Geet mistook Vicky for Maan. Vicky as the cry-baby he was woke up with confused eyes. However he smiled as he saw a pleasant Geet in front of him. Geet offered him the coffee. Vicky was used to having boost as soon as he woke up. So he took the cup and took the first sip. The next moment Vicky started crying loudly and threw the coffee away almost spilling a little hot coffe on Geet. Geet shivered and stepped back. Maan heard the noise and came inside. He saw Vicky crying and Geet next to him. He couldn't bear to see his brother like that and fumed with anger. Thats when Geet saw him. Without any further introductions, she understood that this was the MSK.

Geet tried to explain, " dekhiye wo..mujhe laga ki ye ap he to mene.."

Maan signalled her to stop, "chup"

Geet continued, "mene jaan puchke nhi kiya kuch bhi..wo "

Maan shouted at the top of his voice," Tumne suna nhi mene kya kaha! Chup bilkuk chup. Ek aur laphz tumhare muh se nikla to mujhse bura koi nhi hoga"

Geet stood there shocked. Her heartbeat raised. She was reminded of her daarji. The authority in his voice silenced her beyond any extend.

Maan turned to Vicky, "kya hua Vicky? Kyu ro rhe ho ap?"

Vicky : is didi ne mujhe garam pani pilaya bhai wo bhi kadwi...meri jeeb jal gayi..

Maan examined his tongue. It was slightly reddened. His anger shot seeing his brother in that condition.

Maan(to Geet) : sharam nhi ayi tumhe aisi gandi mazaak karte hue. Tumhe pata chala ki ye bacha thoda sensitive he to jaan puchke subah subah ise rulane chali ayi?pata nhi aisi zalil ladki ko dadima yeha layi kyu he? Kya tumhare gharwale bhi tumhari harkato se tang aa agye jo tumhe bhaga diya?

Geet couldn't bear all these accusations. Her eyes welled up and it met his eyes questioning him. Maan lost himself in her eyes once again. The depth in her eyes shook his conscience. He started feeling a pang of guilt in his heart.His eyes fell on her feet and saw that they were burnt too. His reason started working and it occured to him that it must have been an accident. Geet herself was only two years older than Vicky and it was Vicky who threw the cup at her. He could have simply looked and refused to have the.."coffee" crap!! Maan could guess what had happend now. But before he could say anything Geet left the room crying bitterly.
