wait what actually happened
am guessing it was their wedding anniversary or something
and dont think he remembers it
but there is something else that must have happened
no way would just him forgetting their anniversary would have caused this what ever this is

i love your descriptive writing a lot.!! they way describe whole surrounding..!! getting a reference from every damn thing present around him..!! it just leaves me in awe.!! :)
