Prologue

Maan Singh Khurana stared at the girl who sat on the floor beside his leg chatting gibberish at the speed of light. In her hand, she held his horoscope book and a magnifying glass perhaps looking for his perfect match again.

"Geet! I told you that I am not interested in getting married!" He began to type furiously again while she continued to ignore him. After another five minutes, he roared again. "Geet, leave all of this and go home! A good sleep will do you some good..."

"Do me some good?" Geet asked, horrified. She dropped the horoscope and the magnifying glass and stood up abruptly. "Here I am, looking for a good match for you and you tell me I need a good sleep? Who is going to do all of this hard work then?"

"Geet, you sitting here looking for a match for me is next to sitting idle staring at the wall ahead. Clearly, your hard work has failed miserably three times from last week to now."

She coughed and sat beside him on the sofa. "Don't you worry, Maan Singh Thurana, my work will bear it's fruit one day! But I'll be honest with you Maan..."

She knew she had his attention as he shut his laptop's lid and placed it on the table beside him. The file remained untouched on the table and he fixated himself so that he faced her fully. She smiled inwardly, and idly began twirling her hair from her braid.

"Well...?"

"Oh, where was I?"

"Geet..." he warned, dangerously. She smiled at him revealing her perfectly white and ordered teeth. He was dazed for a second before fixing his attention back to the topic.

"Well, I was just saying that perhaps I am just wasting my time. The problem is not with other sun signs, Maan."

"Geet, cut the astrological crap! Get straight to the point!"

She fumed at him in response and then strangely beamed. "I was thinking that for the lion king himself, we should find the lioness! Oh, I was so stupid! But of course..."

"Geet..." he sighed, exasperatedly running his hand through his hair. He couldn't believe what had made him be friends with Geet but since she had started coming to their home to do cleaning and running errands, he had found a best friend in her. She was the first one to make the bold move and then eventually as the years went by, she became one of the most trusted and important figures in his life.

"Well, how does the name Sasha sound to you?"

Note: I am aware that the story line I chose for this is very common but if anyone wants me to continue, I will do so. ;)

NO PM's, unfortunately.

Thanks,

Mary.

Part One

Geet hastily hurried inside the Khurana mansion while casting a quick glance at her watch. As always, she was half an hour late but today even after waking an hour early she still hadn't managed to achieve her target of arriving on time. There in the hall sat the graceful old lady, the matriarch of the mansion and with her sat a young but a more modern looking woman. Geet saw two different eras sat right in front of her and opted to prefer the more graceful era rather than the one which included small, skimpy clothes.

"Sasha beti, this is Geet," Dadi Maa said, rising to her feet while Sasha remained seated nonchalantly. She cared not who Geet was but her tired eyes were searching for the man she was to be wedded with. Upon this Geet creature and old lady's request, Sasha had turned up at the Khurana mansion praying that Maan would somehow miraculously be present at that time. But her wishes were not granted, nonetheless.

The woman more like girl came racing inside, her clothes blowing with the wind and her light brown hair flying madly. As Sasha eyed her, she noticed that everything she wore was completely passe. Her self confidence rose immensely when the girl folded her hands in traditional greeting.

"Namaste, I'm sorry for being so late! The bus was so packed today and then that stupid ticket conductor gave me a hearing just because I lost my fare! How incredibly ungentlemanly of him to ask me to jump off the moving bus! But I showed him too, Dadi Maa that being a man does not give him the right to boss over women!"

Sasha chuckled at her rambling and questioned her with mock disbelief. "You travel in bus? And yet you are related to the Khurana family? Who are you... a street broker?"

Geet frowned at the woman's word. She had misunderstood her very much and for her it seemed an utmost responsibility to remove every doubt if there were going to be relatives. "No ma'am. I'm the maid."

"What!?" Sasha had roared standing up and moving a good distance away from her. "How dare you call me and... and have the audacity to stand so shamefully close to me? And also come late and give fake excuses, hmm?"

Geet was very bemused. She had always come late but had never received a hearing from Maan or Dadi Maa. She had always addressed Maan by 'Maan' and had even slept in Dadi Maa and Maan's bed but neither had ever told her about her proximity. The lady was confused and she had to clear her doubts.

"But I have never been told about this. In fact, Maan personally invites me into his room and we share a good hearty long night sometimes dozing off or having fun." Geet still remembered when Maan had thought her to play chess and when he had taught her to speak French. She still remembered when she was 10 and he was 20, he would personally sneak trifle for her from the fridge because Dev had guarded the fridge as if his life had depended on it. Maan had been generous and had used his power over him to obtain the trifle. Bless him, she thought, her mouth watering at the memory.

Her innocent outburst shocked Sasha as she scampered away from her towards the door not before placing her hands together in traditional greeting to the old lady.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Khurana, but clearly you have given too much choot to your servants. And I can't believe that MK satisfies himself with such pathetic creatures. I truly cannot go further with this. Good day!" And with that she raced off leaving a relieved yet amused Dadi and an apologetic Geet.

In the evening Maan heard two perspectives of the events in the morning. Although Maan had adored Geet's innocence, he couldn't help but laugh madly with his Dadi Maa when she narrated word for word for what Geet had said.

***

"This is ridiculous!" grumbled Geet, after ending another futile phone call with Sasha. "I don't understand what ma'am is thinking. I simply stated the truth!"

Maan smirked at her naivety and wondered if 18 year old girls truly were this naive or was she simply an enigma. One minute she was so full of herself and the next minute she behaved as if she came from a different planet. He sighed and resumed his work, trying his best to ignore the sweet strawberry smell that always radiated from her.

The scribbling and soft mumbles distracted him several minutes later. He found her sitting on the floor, cross legged with a pencil and his notepad. Observing her closely made Maan realize that she still hadn't dropped the bad habit of sitting on the floor the minute she turned 16. According to her, it was not suitable for a master and servant to be seated on the same positions.

"So, she's a coward and ran off the pitch! We have to try our last bet on this last batsman and hope that he scores a six to beat Maan's oppositions!"

"Geet," he interrupted, with a raised eyebrow. He knew she was very much into cricket but not so much that she had somehow transformed his whole marriage business into a cricket match. "Why are you muttering like a mad man? And before you arrange another meeting with some other girl, I thought I should let you know that I am heading to France this weekend. So, let's postpone and forget this crap and live our merry lives, eh?"

"You're going to France? Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Arch de Triumph and ro-mance!" She sat up and clapped her hands in glee ignoring his confused expression. After a few minutes, she made a phone call and rushed out leaving him in silence. He felt the void immediately and a strange wondering thought made him question how things would change if he was to get married.

The stray notepad picked his attention and he jumped at it in fear that she would return. In Geet's chicken scrawl writing, he read her horrifying plan and how he had unknowingly contributed to it.

Geet Handa's perfectly perfect plan

1) Convince Tasha that Maan Singh Khurana is not having anger issues.
2) Give fake praises of Maan to her.
3) Blackmail Maan into co-operating. (See Dadi Maa for a head start on this.)
4) Bring Tasha to India or send Maan to France.
5) Talk to Adi Sir and somehow make Maan stay in France longer than usual.

He sighed dramatically and slammed his head on the table never feeling so helpless before. Here we go again...

Note: Thank you for all the likes and comments! It was very much appreciated by me and well... I intend to make parts longer as the story progresses further.

Amazing! A naive matchmaker Geet in full form. Loved everything about the prologue and the first chapter. I loved Geet's eccentric persona. Especially the cricket conversation. Ooh I am not surprised by the zor ka jhatka Sasha got. Poor her!😆
